| Wow I came in not expecting much but I really enjoyed this first episode. Having the main character "give up" on the first episode is a nice change of the usual for sure. The music wasn't anything memorable yet but that could change, and so far the characters introduced seem interesting. Time to watch and see how it all unfolds :) |
| I don't know what the anime tried to accomplish with this first episode. Maybe it was a pacing issue, omitting material from the LN, or a hole in the adaptation, but not a great first episode. Almost everything feels off. First, from the premise, I thought it would be about a guy who became a "realist", gives up, and moved on to someone else. Then, it felt like another girl would use him as a fake boyfriend, but that was not it either. After this, I thought it would be about him somehow "supporting her" on whatever he hinted at when he mentioned supporting Natsukawa from afar. Lastly, it turns out it is a convoluted way of showing us that Natsukawa might have feelings for Sajou and that she has no friends because of him. I'll give it a few more episodes and see if this goes somewhere. |
