You are over analyzing things. I just said Mob Psycho was childish because that is legit my biggest complaint with the series, and that poster took offense to it. The reasons I find the show to be childish are due to the reoccurring death fakeouts from both seasons which are bad due to being poor writing (bait and switch), not specifically because it is inherently childish, however it is childish none the less since it is done because it's a kids show that doesn't want to depict death in a serious manner.

Well, okay, but you know, calling things you don't like trash, pitful etc... you could see why other people like stuff without liking them yourself.
Especially, if quite a lot western / not-anime fiction is called trash by anime fans. Then, other people have no reason to respect their interests in return. That's one of the problems of the anime community, imo. Many die hard otakus want others to be open-minded, but they aren't in return.

My family equates anime, as a whole, with hentai, inherently belligerent cartoons, or a combination of the two, so I don't share my passion for anime with them anymore. They don't deserve to know how good anime is.
how do they know hentai kinda thing exist i don't think half of the people knows what a hentai is especially older ones its just you who is getting paranoid

My dad has heard the term hentai and overuses it, but aside from that, they just stereotype any japanese animation as being sexualized, incoherent garbage. Not gonna lie, a lot of the stuff I watch is probably not far off from that lol I've seen a lot of trash anime

its not your dad's fault that they consider japanese animation as being sexualized and why do you watched in front of them in the first place if i watch shows like games of thrones or spartacus in front of my parents they will do the same thing i mean anyone would stereotype

I don't feel any embarrassment when watching anime with my family. Sometimes, my younger siblings use to watch anime with me. My mom was not interested about anime, aside from Shingeki no Kyojin. But when we're living with my grandparents, I feel like I can't watch anime with them watching too.

Well I don't see why people should be embarrassed by their hobby or passion. For me anime is not different than watching TV shows, so I say no. Also in Italy a lot of people casually watch anime so I don't think here it's considered as something to be embarrassed about.

This message is for those who are saying certain shows are "trash."

Each of our opinions are subjective and highly bias. You are free to express your thoughts, but if you don't want people to criticize you back, just add "IMO" at the end of your sentence. Maybe you feel you don't have to because it is assumed, but it does help the community and yourself.

Recently, yes. I will never back down on my opinion on this fandom until somebody can actually convince me I am wrong.

Anime fans are absolutely terrible and this fanbase has gone to absolute shit in the last 5-8 years. Its so bad that I no longer post in anime chatrooms (except one I own) and no longer enjoy telling people I like anime. The fanbase is so bad that when people trash anime fans in the nfl chatrooms, I join in.

I also do the same as you. I love how many anime fans keep parroting "dOn'T jUDgE mE!!!" yet go so deep into slinging shit onto fandoms that never even bother them. I swear animation brings out the worst people (death threats to VAs/directors, doxxing, harrasing ppl in meet-ups, etc.)

That picture is so funny. I have "naruto is trash," in my bio but that's just for shits and giggles I actually really enjoyed it. minus the 900 fillers

Yo chill out lol you don't know my fam I'm just saying how they are.

And my dad generalizes all japanese animation as sexualized trash too. I don't watch in front of them, I just happened to make the past mistake of sharing my passion for a couple top-tier anime I thought they'd appreciate, but they don't have the patience to get into anime. If they did, I know they'd like it, but they are quick to judge. So, it's not worth my time or energy to share with them. That's all.

Most people that hate on anime are like that. If they could get past their misconceptions and cultural egocentrism, and if they invested time, they would probably enjoy and appreciate good quality anime.

Odd. For me, I watch anime a lot and read a lot of manga but it isn't my main focus to do with my time. I focus more on reading Classic literature since I find it much better than manga (not in a pretentious way just I find novels a better art form since the manga is limiting and art as an art form of expression is weak as AI art starts to show).
In conversations, I don't talk much about anime or manga since it's like saying you watch kid shows to people who have never seen it or just clips. And I can understand them since anime and manga ngl do be that way with its cringe unfunny Amy Schumer-level humor and generically over-the-top plot-points and plotholes and a lot else. But I still respect anime and manga it's weird, ya know.
Also, anime and manga are kinda weird to talk about also since it's so popular now, ya know.
And for a while, I was super pro manga and anime and against novels and live-action or American animated shows but after actually watching them, I prefer all of them much more above anime and manga. I feel there's one side of the anime and manga community saying anybody who dislikes anime and manga just has an issue with it and needs to grow up but I can blame anyone who hates it. To me, I'm starting to outgrow it as I find more media other than anime and manga that I prefer. Also, anime and manga are starting to get embarrassing to watch after seeing so many bad defenses for it.

I can be introverted and also shy when it comes to dealing with other people, but one thing I've never had a problem with is talking about anime, be it with my family or any strangers.

Animanga became a part of my life. The stories I watched or read influenced me in many different ways, taught me different concepts, made me rescue memories or even encouraged me to research and learn new things, mainly about psychology. Therefore, on the contrary, I generally feel very stimulated and eager to talk to other people about what I watch and put my theories and reflections on the table. Overall, I think it's the coolest thing I have to offer for conversation, since I'm always thinking about it. I can say that I have fun exposing the analyzes that I do and what I learned from anime, including from my family members.
