Ngl, the same thing had happened to me when I first watched Bleach. The first arc (Substitute Shinigami) was so boring that I was nearly sleeping through it the whole time.

But still you should definitely keep watching. If I am not wrong, the Soul Society arc starts at around episode 20 and that is where Bleach starts getting better.
I agree on the pacing part and also, the animation will improve much later on.

The story really picks up at episode 20 cause that’s when the Soul Society arc begins.

The arc you’re on now is more to introduce the characters and the world so it’s a bit slower.

The animation also gets better the further into the series you get cause it evolved as the author’s style got better in the manga.

So yeah, I think you should try and keep watching and see what you think when you get to where the story really gets good.

(And if you end up liking it, look up a filler list online cause the first one that begins at episode 64 is really boring and it almost made me quit the series cause I didn’t know it was filler)

Yeah it’s a really good battle shonen, same level as Naruto for me. First arc is good but nothing extraordinary, it becomes incredible with Soul Society Arc. The long Arrancar arc starts really slow but then it becomes really good. FullBringer Arc is good enough, not everyone likes it, but it’s a nice change of pace to take a breath after a fantastic fight and to prepare for the Thousand Year Blood War, which will be much better in the new anime, some plot holes and little things will be fixed by the author himself, which at the time of the manga had health problems but was still forced by Shueisha to continue week after week, ruining the finale. The new anime will be sort of a director cut of the last arc

Complete the soul society arc which starts around episode 20 if you don't like it considering dropping the show as it doesn't get better afterwards infact it drops in quality and picks up again around ep 300

Read the manga lol its least faithful as an adaptation of big 3, but if you want to watch the anime it gets actually really good at Episode 16. Episode 1-15 is good but the anime makes it pretty boring ig and overall not too special

Bleach is overall decent, had its ups and downs. If you don't already like the style of the show so far into the series then I don't think you'll be impressed by anything shown from here on.

Watch it on 1.50 or 1.75x, as whatever fits according to you and wait for the soul society arc, you gonna enjoy that for sure if nothing else. Most people skip fillers and it's upto you if you want to skip or not, as you have still time before October, usually i don't skip anything so i watched and liked some of them and it's been so long.

Just bear with it for the first few episodes, it will get better eventually, especially in the Soul Society Arc.

It was the same for me, it gets better after the 30th episode but it's nothing too amazing.

Try getting past episode 20 because that’s where the anime starts to get good, and if you’re still not hooked by then drop it.

It gets really good around episode 15 or 16, which ever one introduces Renji, and Byakuya. The Soul Society is one of the best Arcs, but nowhere near best. After Soul Society is the Arrancar Arc, and so far that's the best Arc. Then there's the Fullbring Arc which receives way too much hate, when that Arc isn't even bad. Then there's the TYBW Arc, but we have to wait for that to come before we can rank it.

As for pacing it starts not slow, but not fast. In the Soul Society Arc the pacing picks up in speed, and for the most part remains like that for the rest of the series.

For animation you have to remember this came out in 2004, but was always ahead of the other series.

The whole Anime is somewhat like this. If you can't watch it now and if it's so bad that you keep falling asleep, you likely won't be able to complete it. And yes, it's a really great Anime. It's a recommendation for many for a very good reason. It's also true that the first arc where soul society is introduced is a long one, but it's not that other arcs are short or anything like that.
Way past all the episodes which feel slow, filers and other things, it got a great and inspiring story. I watched it years ago and as far as I can remember, there is character development for most of the characters as well, might be the reason many felt the pacing slow, as it feels like that Ichigo grows stronger slowly. It only seems like that because each arc focuses on development for several characters. That's why it got so many good characters as well.

All of that development and proper build up from the beginning is what makes every character stand out so much in future arcs. You get to feel their motivation and resolve because you've seen them grow.

There are many good reasons why so many people are so hyped, excited and happy for the new season for Bleach. If you don't watch it, it's no one's loss but yours.

Also, it has a type on Animation Style which I'd like to call CLASSIC

Haven't read tybw but arrancar in no way was better than soul society it was inconsistent af it may have had more peaks but soul society was consistently great and I'm sure more than half the bleach fandom thinks the same way no need to be surprised

I have a lot of fun reading it, but I found Ichigo to be really relatable and I like Kubo's sense of humor. I really like it but I know it's a 6/10 with some 7/10 moments when I strip away my own personal fondness

it's top5. people can think what they want but bleach is critically incredible and the designs are second to none. Naruto simply over shadows it and even if bleach isnt as good its more about the design and cast of characters.

The beginning is ass. But it gets way better from the soul society arc, which is at like episode 20. Also the animation gets a lot better, Bleach’s animation was quite ahead of its time, you’ll understand at the later episodes. You should definitely continue it.

i dropped it diring the first arc, the Hollows are just such boring enemies that pose no threat whatsoever, the second arc is really good an after that it has its ups an downs, unfortunatelly some of its best moments are ruined by a certain annoying character who just wont shut up
