I feel like Maia is being played by mind games this episode while also physically exhausted.

Somewhat interesting that they playing around with the chaos words gimmick again. While all this is happening, we get Maia's thoughts about Akira. It looks like the episode builds up for the final battle of this series. Exciting. Akira coming to the recuse~

This build reminds of the last Aquarion series. How the heroine was taken by antagonists for a evil purpose and now it's on the male protagonist as he is on his way to rescue her. This will obviously most likely (or something similar) end with the heroine being saved and she and the male protagonist will combine again to defeat the bad guy with their combine power. Plus, they'll most likely even have the guy who kinda still wants Maia to officially give up (just like the last series on how the "other" guy gave up on the main heroine).

Wait, if Akira is Kiryuu, then who the *beep* is Subete? I thought Subete claimed to be Kiryuu? And if Nesta didn't believe in Kiryuu in the end and thought he hated her, then why would she ally herself with the self-proclaimed reincarnation of Kiryuu?

Lastly, how did they transform into Aquarion Logos? Why didn't they do so earlier? And I bet this isn't the real Aquarion Logos.

Well, its pretty likely that Kiryu was split. Akira has a ton of Verbalism power, while Subete has the book which is Kiryu's powers, and books are written.
Kiryu is split between his verbalism and writing aspect.

Though, its pretty amusing that the protagonist is using the evil machine and the antagonist is using the "good" machine.

Okay.....what the hell..I started this episode and after about 10 minutes of it I had to go rewatch the last 5 minutes of episode 23 to make sure I didn't miss something somewhere.

Right after then end of an epic, much needed, battle and overall good episode, they abruptly end it...then the beginning of 24 is explaining the story of 12,000 years ago. This would have more appropriate oh...I don't know...20 episodes ago!

This episode was overall a disappointment. Half of it used to explain something that should have been explained several episodes ago.

Side note, at this point it is excessively apparent that the last 2 aquarions have literally nothing to do with this one. I hope they don't base another ark off this.

The story about what had happened 12,000 years ago was nice.

I'm looking forward to the final battle!

This franchise has nary a strand of originality to spare, does it? Constantly recycling the same tired narratives during the latter half of each entry just kills any remaining sense of intrigue this anime might've otherwise managed to scrounge up.
