Hmm last I bought anime item some where around 20 years ago when I was 20 I got collection box of 3 Slayers seasons. I have not bought anime items sense then today I work my ass of but can barely stay alive. But man when I was 20 year old shit was cheaper, I had better income and no kids and no rent as finding an apartment was hard as hell still is.

Man I miss being 20 life was 100 times better.

After over 2 decades later, finally satisfied enough to say my "Rune Soldier" ADV DVD volume collection is complete. Where before I have only owned the Thinpak collection. The reason why it has taken so long is due to wanting to complete the post card set and have the tattoo stickers that came with them as extras (Think I am missing one sticker, but will live with that as long as I have the post card set complete). One of the huge problems was finding New unopened copies because some collectors wouldn't keep the post cards uniform. I would order a used copy, only to return it, because a seller would do shit like just throwing in volume 5 and volume 6 post cards in a volume 3 dvd case, etc... lol

Also ended up returning used copies that I have ordered before due to not being in very good condition in the 1st place (Disc scratched up, or case messed up, etc...)

This Image Album from the 1990's classic "Tenchi Muyo!" i fell in love with several songs from it...
back when i had found them off of "Napster" in the very-early-2000's.

Now, i have the original CD Album once and for all...
and; through a good old-fashioned, high-performance Stereo System, it ought to sound nothing short of AWESOME;

Got a short fun story to tell about this...

A few months ago, one of my friends came over to shoot a few games of pool in my man cave. I usually just let an anime DVD play in the background for ambiance, so randomly I popped in "Ikkitousen".

Ironically, while my friend had obviously heard of "Ikkitousen", they had never actually watched it before. Well, they ended up enjoying it way more than they expected. Since we only had time for a few games, we didn’t even get through more than four episodes together. So I let my friend borrow my entire Geneon set.

Fast forward to today... I just got my season 1 "Ikkitousen" collection back. Though the funny shit is... it’s not the exact set I originally lent them. My friend actually returned the Geneon collector’s edition, complete with the collector’s box and art to hold all four volumes. lol.

The story behind this is pretty fucking wild... Apparently, my friend’s new puppy used my "Ikkitousen" DVD volumes as chew toys, along with a bunch of other random shit. My friend told me, the inserts and cases were completely destroyed. The discs, ironically, could still play, but they were scratched the shit up and have bite marks all over them. lol

Feeling really bad about what happened, my friend didn’t just hand me back a ruined collection. Instead, they waited until they could replace it and went above and beyond by getting me a whole new volume set with the collector’s box and art collection. lol.

Yes, the new collection is technically used, but the shit is still in better condition than the set I originally lent out.

Always great to have friends like him. Thanks and kudos again, my friend... if you ever get around to reading this, since you still refuse to make an account on this site. lol.

(I also own the Funimation [S.A.V.E.] edition, but the quality is slightly downgraded because they crammed the entire season onto just two discs).

Anime merch no, Tokusatsu merch I should receive a Kamen Rider Zeztz figure (right in time for EternalSleeper to drop the scrub of the new episode) together with a bunch of Kamen Rider lego minifigures and a Kamen Rider Faiz hoodie tomorrow, and then a Kamen Rider Geat IX sound and action figure. I also have a very good priced (official, this time around) Geats IX Rifle in the cart of Aliexpress, if I manage to get enough money I'll buy it.
Edit: I'm also waiting for a Balalaika poster from Black Lagoon, from the same site. No idea when I'll get it though

Almost forgot, earlier today I replaced my "Princess Nine" Complete DVD Collection by some distributor called "Lucky Penny Entertainment" (released in 2014) with the original "ADV Films" Western individual volume releases from 2001.

Looks like I know what I’ll start watching tonight, snacking on a can of "Hapi Mixed Crackers", "Edamame with Soy and Sesame Sauce", slurping instant "Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black Premium Beef Broth" with manually added thinly sliced prime ribeye and adding actual quality dried shiitake mushrooms, and washing it all down with a few bottles of "Soju". lol

Managed to snag all three original DVD volumes of Bandai Entertainment’s "Silent Möbius" in perfect condition, complete with the original mini art poster and the special mini-manga books. After quickly viewing the 1st volume today, it's basically identical in audio and video quality to the 2005 "Complete Collection" and the 2008 "Anime Legends" release. It's just nice to have all the extra shit the other two releases never came with.

Back in early 2006, I missed out on getting Volume 1 of "Desert Punk" , when it included the limited-edition Artbox. Well, that finally changed last weekend when I stumbled across some local dude selling off his entire DVD collection on Craigslist, along with a bunch of other random shit like old collectible toys and games.

Oddly enough, he only had Volume 1... but that shit didn’t matter to me, because all I wanted was the Artbox to fully complete my original FUNimation Desert Punk DVD volume collection. Even crazier, the guy lives less than a mile away from me, so we met up at the local park this afternoon to make the exchange, which is within walking distance for me.

I was mildly expecting to meet someone closer to my age, but the dude turned out to be in his late 50s. Still, we ended up having a surprisingly interesting conversation. So not only did I finally score the Artbox and complete my collection, but I also made a new local friend in the process. lol

Sadly, he no longer had the extra swag that originally came with it... the beige Desert Punk cap... but honestly, I’m just happy I got the Artbox without having to re-buy the entire DVD set. It’s shockingly in perfect condition too... no fading, no scuffs. I swear, it’s like some collectors buy this shit and then toss it into an isekai item-box void, only to sell the shit off 20 years later. lol

I guess I know what I’ll be watching tonight. :)

I made a horrible fucking mistake back in 2022 when I bought the Media Blasters Blu-ray release of "Grenadier", assuming it would look better and have improved audio. Based on that assumption, I traded in my original DVD volume set at a used DVD/book store for store credit. It was a spur-of-the-moment decision during some spring cleaning, thinking I could make a bit more room in my “favorites” section. That shit turned out to be a fucking terrible call.

The Blu-ray wasn’t a real upgrade at all, imo. It was just a lazy upscale... it didn’t look any better than the DVDs, the upscaling actually introduced its own problems. In certain scenes, the animation panning looked slightly janky to me with commonly loss of grain/detail due to trying to clean the shit up to look more modern. Nothing that completely ruined the show, but if you’ve watched it enough on DVD, like I have, it’s absolutely fucking noticeable.

The worst part is that I didn’t fully catch all of this shit until it was way too late to undo the decision. So I was stuck with what I consider an inferior product... an SD show just ported to Blu-ray, where the upscaling made certain things look worse instead of better.

Thankfully, that shit finally got corrected.

Before Media Blasters reissued the series as a box set, "Grenadier" was originally released by AnimeWorks in individual volumes in the West (effectively the same company). I managed to track down all three original DVD volumes that I used to own, still sealed in their original shrink wrap, along with the limited-edition artbox and the limited-edition figure that came with volume one. Even the figure’s packaging was untouched, and still sealed. So i got two copies of the 1st volume now. Sadly there was a volume 2 limited-edition release that got canceled that was suppose to come with a body pillowcase. Not sure what happened with that shit. lol

I generally don’t collect figurines anymore, but this one’s an exception since it’s part of the original DVD release. Geeking out over this recently has honestly shifted my mindset. It’s got me thinking I might start hunting down more limited-edition shit that I either passed or missed out on getting back in the 2000s... regrets I didn’t realize I still had till this year.

Look like I might order a white pizza tonight and binge this shit while drinking a few bottles of Sapporo.

Managed to snag this shit recently and only just now getting around to sharing it... The BANDAI Entertainment™ Western release of "Scrapped Princess" (Pacifica's Destiny) with its Limited Edition figures, complete with the original packaging (which is still in pretty decent condition).

While the box was opened by the previous owner, the figures themselves are still sealed inside the original plastic mold casing. I would try to take the Zephiris and Natalie figures out, but I honestly have no fucking clue how to do that without breaking out box cutters... which would just destroy the mold. So yeah, not attempting that shit until I find some kind of tutorial on how to open these properly while preserving the casing (if that shit is even possible). lol

I have a feeling the other Limited Edition volumes are going to have the exact same issue, whenever I manage to hunt the rest down. lol

As for the actual DVD that came with this shit, it barely even looks like it was ever used, which is a huge plus. The video and audio quality on the original BANDAI Entertainment™ Western DVD volume releases, is the fucking bomb.

Quality-wise, it’s equivalent to the BANDAI Entertainment™ “Anime Legends” 6 disc DVD release from 2007... it’s just way fucking cooler actually owning the original Western individual volumes and even better owning the figures that came with these type of limited releases.

Now on the hunt to complete the entire DVD Limited Edition Figure set by tracking down the other volumes.

Getting closer to my fucking goal to complete the BANDAI Entertainment™ Limited Edition releases of "Scrapped Princess" DVD volumes. Two thirds away to completing the entire set.

Found these being sold as "brand new", but I could already tell the shit had been opened at one point in time. It's because the tape was broken on each box and this type of packaging always show signs when the tuck flaps have been handled with in any way. Creases will always show up on the cardboard of the tuck flaps when the shit has been opened, no matter how careful one is in trying to open the shit up. lol

Re-wrapping the shit in shrink wrap only make the shit look worse too. Because over time these type of boxes will almost always warp if the shit isn't shrink wrapped on a factory line. That is unless one is extremely careful, leaving some way for air to still flow inside the box effectively. Thankfully I could already tell the boxes weren't too warped. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought the shit being advertise as "brand new". Of course after getting this shit, I quickly ripped that fucking faux shrink wrap off them all. lol

The good news is the DVDs look like they have never been used at all, so that is the huge plus from this recent purchase. The figures are also still sealed inside the original plastic mold casings. I haven't fucking found a way to open them up without destroying the plastic molds, so I guess the shit will forever be sealed till the end of time... or at least as long as they stay part of my physical collection of Anime merch shit. lol

That is pretty cool I just got the complete collection for 15 bucks and the case is pretty ruff looking but the discs look unused.

And for the topic I finally got the Tales of Phantasia ova that I like to watch every christmas and also to go with my arche figure.
Also I figured this would be a great time to play through the ps1 remake.

That is really all that matters when it comes to the DVDs, unless one is really anal about wanting the shit to always look like it's in mint condition, it's pretty unavoidable for DVD cases to wear over time. The “Anime Legends” release from 2007 is surprisingly equivalent in quality as the audio and video quality of the original DVD volumes from 2005. It's probably because all they did was take masters from the original DVDs volumes and just re-issued the shit without trying to "improve" the quality like upscaling, filtering, or even messing with the audio mixing. So the "Anime Legends” release is fucking solid imo too. :)

The problem I have now, is it's going to be pretty fucking difficult to find someone willing to sell me the last two Limited Edition volumes that I need to complete my collection. lol

I don't mind the packaging being a bit "ruff", if the shit still over all looks nice. But I am still on the hunt to find them in as decent condition as possible and not have to pay extremely inflated price for the shit. As an example there is a local used book store, close to where I live, that sells collectable shit like this. I saw they were trying to sell the Japanese import of "Scrapped Princess" Limited Edition vol.1 with the Pacifica figure in a bikini as well as a figure of her in her normal outfit and the shit looked factory sealed, the problem was they were trying to sell that shit for $300 individually each. lol

I would be shocked if anyone would actually pay that much for that shit where I live and that shit has been sitting on a shelf behind the register desk for almost 5 years now. lol

I originally offered the owner $85 a few years back for the Pacifica figure in a bikini, but he told me that he pay way more for that shit. I didn't say it out loud, but the fucker got ripped off. lol

@MasterTasuke no doubt you fucking own this thread. lol

I couldn't imagine owning as many collectable figures as you do without my Wife getting on my ass when I was still collecting shit like that back in the early 2000s. Like back when I was still living in an apartment in the early 2000s, my wife gave me a choice, either store all the half naked figures I owned in storage boxes or she would throw the shit away. lol

I had the shit almost flooding the living room at the time. Like I had all the 1/8 Ikkitousen limited edition figures, The entire Epoch gashapon Najica Blitz Tactics figure set with the bonus Lila figure, The Najica Blitz Tactics capsule collection mini figure full set, and basically every Agent Aika garage kit that existed back then too, etc...

But since we live in a house now, and obviously more room to display and collect shit, she generally doesn't care about what I collect these days as I long as I keep that shit in my mancave or the garage where I work on fixing up Arcade cabinets. Just not displaying the shit all over the house like in the living room, dinning room, bedroom, etc... lol

Sadly back in the early 2010s I already sold off most of my collectable Anime figures, because I ended up prioritizing owning Anime on physical media more than any other collectable merch... Almost every Wall scroll and poster I had back in the 90s and 2000s are all faded to shit, any Anime T-shirt I bought also faded to shit. Where my wife even wears one of the Aika t-shirts I bought once as a pajama top because the printed graphic image is basically half missing, even Aika's head is complete faded away and gone on it. lol

But as one who appreciates the fucking passion you have, even seeing you going to the extreme of making home crafted panties for these figures you got, I will admit you got a bomb collection going dude. lol

True as long as the discs work that is really all that matters.
Good luck on finding the last volumes. :)

I did pay around 300 bucks for blood+ part one and two dvd box set together which was a pretty good price (still overpriced) considering that part two usually goes for close to that and part one is hard to find at all.

Blood+ part 2 is one of the rarest series to find on DVD anymore, or at least it was at one point (people these days might have started trying to sell off their shit). If you have part 2, that shit is likely worth $300 alone. I suspect they didn't issue out even half as many as part one.

It reminds me of Pioneer releasing "Lupin the 3rd part 2" on DVDs back in 2003. Where they only released 15 volumes over time then discontinued the shit in the West by 2006. It's because they just weren't selling very good. By the time they released volume 15, they likely didn't even print out 1/8th of the amount of DVDs as the previous volume. Where even owning any of the Pioneer volumes after volume 10 is likely still worth more money than owning the 1st three volumes combined today... Those Pioneer releases are just that fucking rare. They have been that way even by the early 2010s.
