| For this episode the Devil Hunters are trapped on a looping 8th floor and obviously there’s going to be moments where a couple of them started losing it in the form of Arai and Kobeni. While at the same time it also led to the others having different approaches to the situation, Aki obviously the serious one, is scouting about for any possible exits and where the Devil is, Denji is choosing to sleep, Himeno is surprisingly chill about this and is just smoking while Power is just…well just being Power basically. You’d think with this kind of episode where the cast are trapped in one location and have to figure what to do next can lead to a boring watch but surprisingly they balanced the tone with comedy and very intense moments to keep me watching throughout this. Kobeni is definitely a highlight for me, her just basically freaking out over everything was worth a lot of laughs for me, I can see where she can get annoying for others but I didn’t see any problems with her because she’s meant to be one of the more normal members of the group, and she is inexperienced but she also doesn’t want to be there and wants to be anywhere but where she is currently. I also got the idea of Aki and Himeno being partners and we do indeed get flashbacks confirming this. Apparently the latter introduced Aki to smoking in general which is pretty interesting that he doesn’t want to smoke any cigarettes in the flashback but as soon as he finds Himeno in the present he wants one. This is probably my favourite arc of Chainsaw Man at the moment, it’s overall an amazing episode and I really wasn’t expecting the head devil from earlier to turn out to be the Eternity Devil and just get real massive and have Denji just jump in with his chainsaws into the pit at the end there. Honestly the episode in question just made me think of Inception at times cuz it definitely had that feel to it for me. And the Eternity Devil overall was pretty creepy if I do say so myself. Again amazing episode next episode is gonna be pretty sick, ‘nuff said. |
