I loved this season just like the first. C2C delivered again this season... I could even say they upped their game. Loved both the Openings, especially the second, it really gives final boss music. Watching SLF again made me remember how fun it is to play online and connect with other gamers, and reminded me how much I love gaming... I lost that feeling for a long while, but watching this made me want to feel like that again, even more than I did before. Now, it made me want to play RPG games again (Looking into trying League of Legends & Genshin Impact). I also want to try out MMO games, so if anyone has good recommendations, please let me know🙏. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this season, and I'm looking forward to Season 3!! W SEASON W ANIME!!🔥🔥🙌🐐✅️🤩💯

Binged two seasons and came away feeling conflicted about the series.

Not really looking forward to the continuation of the arc. The anime didn’t give me any reason to like Pencilgon or Oikatzo—most of the time, they just feel like Sunraku clones without much else to offer, and I found them increasingly annoying. On top of that, after watching The King's Avatar, I’ve grown to hate the whole "le epic gaming tournament" trope in anime.
@combi2015 You must've liked it if you binged both seasons.

So why ppl say this when they literally prove themselves wrong is weird.

So we get no ending. The night wolf isn't beat, nor is the octopus. The robot bit went nowhere, nor did we get anywhere with the competition arc. The team hasn't even met up once with mr MC... Nothing happened. Everything is ongoing.

I really don't like this chaos. Not only is everything all over the place, the timing is off, too. Couldn't they wrap up the octopus arc at the very least? Why leave all the fights for season 3? I get that they feel safe that they WILL get a season three - but I will not remember a single thing of this in two years. So annoying.

Also, why push mecha into a fantasy show? Man. What a letdown of a season. Hopefully the third will be better.
@AbsoluteOpulence M8, ppl were saying from the start that the CGC arc was going to be mostly in S3.

So you only have yourself to blame for not listening.

As for the mechs, its literally just another video game like they did with guns for the SAO series.

Thus why ppl are just finding reasons to "hate" this is mind-numbing.

I thought this show was called "Shangri-La Frontier" not "Weird masked guy plays a bunch of different games that are mostly crap, but sometimes plays one that's really good that has bunnies!"

Feels like they spent more time in other games than the one the show gets its title from, and is supposed to be about. People usually call this kind of crap FILLER.

If they were going to do filler, then things like meeting Rei outside the game and not knowing that she's Psyger-0 and other things that have to do with Shangri-La Frontier would have infinitely more interesting than sudden tangents to some crap mech game and then some stupid fighting game tournament that have nothing to do with Shangri-La Frontier.

Before someone says "It was like that in the manga," I do not care. I didn't read it, and if it truly is the case, then the manga is full of filler too.

It's like if in Demon Slayer, Tanjirou dropped everything to pick flowers to become a florist for no reason for a few episodes, then goes back to demon slaying, they set up this big fight with a strong demon, Tanjirou decides to enter some completely unrelated art contest, they finish the fight with the demon in the first 5 minutes of the last episode of the season, then the rest of the episode is about the stupid art contest, and the season ends on a cliffhanger.

Would be be going "ooooo I can't wait until next season to see how the art contest goes"? I doubt it. No one cares about the stupid art contest. I don't know why people care about this game tournament.
@Euthymia_Gerv What does Gun Gale Online have to do with Sword Art Online?

I thought the series was called Sword Art Online.

Nah, they are right. Don't call the show Shangri-La Frontier, and then have so many episodes that have nothing to do with it.

It's like watching Game of Thrones, and in the middle of the first season, Jon goes "I'm sick of this," leaves, and it's suddenly a rip-off of Scrubs for a bunch of episodes, then randomly goes back to being normal Game of Thrones.

Then the second season is a few episodes of Game of Thrones, a third of the season is Jon playing Quidditch, and the season ends with Jon playing in a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament, and ends on a cliffhanger.

Ooooo! Have to wait until season three to find out if Jon has the heart of the cards! Will he win the Yu-Gi-Oh tournament? No one gives a crap. It would be terrible, just like this show turned out to be.

What are you even talking about? No one's talking about SAO. Also, they completed one story before moving onto the Gun Gale stuff, which branched off into an alternate story.

Suppose they wanted to do all this crappy tournament crap. In that case, they should have waited for the season to be over and done a crappy Shangri-La Frontier Alternative that no one would watch all about the crappy tournament and/or the other crappy games they spent way too much time on.

@Euthymia_Gerv Love how you're saying how "bad" it is only after watching.

Its clear you like it otherwise you wouldve dropped it long ago.

Also, how they can hop from story to story like this yet remain popular as it is just proves how good the writing of the mangaka actually is.

So keep looking up reasons why you say you dont like this when you actually do.

Here i thought Tsunderes were a fictional concept.

Why would I have dropped it? I'm not some baby who can't handle things. I see things through to the end and form an opinion then. You know, people watch movies and things to the end before writing reviews and critiques about them, right?

Even with movies with the lowest Rotten Tomatoes scores, you don't see reviewers going "I walked out 30 minutes into the 2 and half hour movie because it was bad". That would beg the inevitable question, "How can you review the movie then? For all you know, the first 30 minutes were bad, but by the end everything makes sense and the movie is actually excellent?"

I liked the concept of the show, and didn't mind if he hopped into some other games once, maybe twice, for maybe an episode each time. They did it too many times, and for several episodes at a time. Shangri-La Frontier seemed like it was the filler in its own show. Especially in season 2.

Even hit shows have episodes that are misses. Or entire seasons. Great series like Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) didn't start getting good until season 3. The earlier seasons still have some gem episodes. If I had dropped it because of goofy episodes like Season 1 Episode 4: Code of Honor, I wouldn't have seen great episodes like Season 2 Episode 9: The Measure of a Man, as a quick example.

Shangri-La Frontier had a lot of miss episodes, especially in season 2. I'll still watch season 3 because, as I said, I finish what I start. Also, sunk cost. With how season 2 ended, though, I'm not very excited for it, and I don't have high expectations.

Season 2 of Shangri-La Frontier was like Season 8 of Game of Thrones. Disappointing.

Nice argumentum ad populum there.

You know, many, many very popular things turned out to be very bad, right? Being popular doesn't automatically mean something is good. It just means people like following what others do to fit in. That's how trends work. The Tide Pod challenge was very popular, wasn't it? How did that turn out? Try coming up with your own opinion instead of "This is popular, therefore good."

Also, I like many things that aren't popular, and I also dislike many things that are popular. I also like some popular things, and also dislike some unpopular things. I don't want to sound like a hipster, but I also sometimes like unpopular things that get popular later on. It's almost as if that's a thing that exists. I think they call it "Thinking for yourself" or something like that. Anyway, maybe you should try it sometime, or do you have to check to see if it's popular first?

@animefanftw123 Why would I be on forum pages, spoiling myself about the contents of the season...? That makes no sense.

Anyway - I wouldn't mind if there was some continuation from season to season. But opening four arcs at once and not finishing even one of them off? What's the point in that? I get that the author did that in their original work - but some rearrangement of the plot points would have made the story much more cohesive and easier to watch. Simply put, I don't care about this show enough to rewatch it in its entirety before the next season.

I don't think I'm 'finding reasons' for anything - I'm only expressing my opinion.

I understand that you're a big fan. That's good. I hope you enjoyed this season. I didn't. I didn't hate it - I was a bit bored and a bit annoyed by the direction they went in. Hating things is tiring and not worth my time. If I had hated it, I'd have stopped watching.

What are you even on about? This is just from ppl talking about how anime onlyes shouldnt get their hopes up and what to expect.

Plus from how late into S2 the CGC arc was, it was obvious the whole thing wasnt going to be covered. So whats there to "spoil" when it was being spelled out for you in the series itself.

It's a good anime to watch when you don't have anything more to watch, it's good, i don't have a bad thing to say about it.

Not as great as the first season which had me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how Sonraku got stronger.
This season was just ok.
I still dont like how the show over explains common gamer terms. Even for a new generation of gamers, dumbing down your show shows your trying to hold the viewers hand. Explaining things like VIT really made me lose faith that the current and next seasons will have no depth. Let the viewers put some things together themselves. Especially considering what your explaining isnt hard to get in the first place.
This definitely lowered my hype and expectations for the next season.

Noo, I was really excited about the Silvi and Sunraku match up.

What a cliffhanger, they left us with two unfinished arcs.

This season was fun overall, but the wethermon fight from the previous season still remains my number 1 pick. I'm now more excited for the Silvi and Sunraku match up than the Ctarnidd arc. Can't wait for next season, 8/10

Good season but definitely not better than S01.
But I'm quite interested in GGC arc.
So gonna jump into manga.
