Glad I took a breather from the main show instead of skipping this to continue the binge. It was definitely refreshing to go back to a critical moment in OP and see it from the lens of ordinary folk. The artistic style & direction of this special was really delightful. My favorite part in particular was how the puzzle pieces kept clicking together, representing the emotions of mini-Nami on her own little adventure. It also affirms something I've felt ever since Alabasta - that I'm glad Nami & Usopp remain (mostly) normal humans. It was what particularly won me over about Usopp's development during Water Seven & Enies Lobby.

The story of the Marine brothers was really moving too. Tying Luffy & Ace to the two marine brothers was a remarkable moment that really added a more human layer to support characters that are usually fodder to throw around when the power players are showing off. It also makes me even more appreciative of Coby's desperate plea to end the battle.

If ever there was a time to self-insert into One Piece, it would definitely be as an ordinary person, watching these incredible adventures from afar and drawing on them for inspiration in everyday life.

8/10

there is nothing new that I have to mention, the use of colorful art, the ability to show each and every character in such a real way is impeccable, the direction and soundtrack are beautiful and the silences are used in scenes where the characters technically don’t have it. a work that for me is a 10/10
