MyAnimeList is a community of anime fans that was built by fans, for fans. Our anime/manga databases, news articles, community discussion spaces, and social media pages have been moderated by volunteers since MAL was first created 20 years ago.

We strongly believe that anime fans know anime fans best: A community thrives most when it is led and managed by passionate and experienced members who want to stay involved. Together, we aim to enrich the experience of anime fans by maintaining comprehensive databases of shared knowledge, communication spaces open to diverse ideas, and a global neighborhood that fosters new friendships.

Why Become A Moderator?
By joining MAL's moderation team, you gain:

Free MAL Supporter
A deeper knowledge of the anime/manga industry and community (e.g. increased awareness of different anime/manga titles, industry trends, staff, up-to-date news, etc.)
A voice in discussions about upcoming MyAnimeList events, changes in moderation, potential site features, and other issues which affect the community.
Potential opportunity to attend conventions with a press pass (varies by convention and moderator position).
Reference letter after 1+ year of consistent contributions (upon request).
Access to a group of anime and manga fans who are passionate about the medium and the MyAnimeList community (read: new friends!)

Requirements

18+ years old.
Advanced to native understanding of English.
Have good communication skills.
Be a team player.

What Interests You?

1. Sharing Information With Others

News Moderator

Like to write simple, easy-to-understand texts.
Interested in knowing information about new anime announcements, staff/cast, manga series ending, etc.
Familiar with translation tools like Google Translate.

Social Media Moderator

Like to watch seasonal anime and share screenshots with others.
Interested in sharing a variety of non-seasonal anime titles with fans in the form of recommendations, questions, "did you know?" info, etc.
Familiar with Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter (images > video).

2. Interacting With Other Members

Community Moderator

Like to read a variety of ideas/opinions, and are capable of doing so with an impartial attitude.
Interested in building skills in people conflict management and resolving a diverse range of issues surrounding the community.
Familiar with the public MyAnimeList forums.

Review/Rec/Stack Moderator

Like to read reviews, recommendations, and/or stacks created by other members.
Interested in checking that the content meets community guidelines, and are capable of explaining why when it doesn't.
Familiar with the aforementioned sections and their guidelines.
