Why can MC attend a magic school and pass without the help of magic, what's the point? MC gets points for dungeons and no one thought to check how he does it even though he can't use the simplest spell?

Harry potter always goes around breaking rules, why didn't he get expelled and instead be praised for everything he does? If you start asking questions like this, a whole story falls apart, so rather, just enjoy it for what it is

@Piromysl I guess it's a good thing about me that I don't take shit without thinking xD Honestly, I haven't watched too many anime with the theme "a guy with no magic skills, he studies in a magic school", maybe Black Clover, but there MC actually had magic thanks to the demon, Mashle.. .I haven't watched it, but from what I know, the MC was strong enough to imitate magic..maybe stupid, but there's something, and there's nothing here

You’re complaining about the most basic ass tropes found in every shounen anime lol it’s not supposed to make sense other it won’t be a generic power fantasy.

This is not a well known fact, but if you're struggling to get enough credits at uni in Australia, you can earn them by going into the university dungeon and slaying a couple monsters.

@Uruichi so tell me these shounen anime, I don't remember Naruto being able to pass the chunin exam without chakra, I know that not everything always has to make sense, but this most important part of building the plot should be justified imo

Yeah, you have clearly not watched many anime, because "trying to be the strongest, despite not having the fundamental skill or talent and others telling me to quit" is very common and beloved trope. It teaches viewers that hard work and effort pays off despite all odds. Your take kinda puts you on the same spot as those bullies.

@epyon4light how explained? so that in a prestigious MC school he is able to pass the 6th grade using only theory and going to the dungeons? it's like knowing all the formulas in mathematics and not being able to solve any problem and still passing the subject or getting grades in mathematics in physical education xD

@Ba-Cii10 the grey hair professor, wakner says there are three ways to earn credits Dungeon, theory and then magic, these credits determine whether you graduate the school and even get a chance to be selected to go up the tower, MC does average in theory and very well in dungeon, so he survives expulsion from a hair's breadth, magic is important, but other two is equally important, and MC does other 2 to the point he barely hangs on, the professor said it when he said he need 4 more credits the week to not get expelled since he didnt get enough points from theory that week

Focusing on the first question:

I believe it states the only way to get to the top of the tower to stand next to his bae and be a cool kid is through the magic academy is the why. And it’s EPISODE ONE, expect further plot development. Does more need to be said?

Focusing on the second question:

I mean, the kiddos that all went into the dungeon following Mr. Bully didn’t think that the dungeon would be so difficult/deadly obviously. So even if someone had payed attention to MC enough to check how many points he had, it wouldn’t matter if they were a student since the students are obviously unaware of how challenging the dungeon can be + he’s failing regardless.

Additionally the professor in class makes some comment about him being a theorist or something like that, whilst using magic obviously obtains the most points, knowledge of magic alone can provide points. So professors that feel the need to check his points may chalk up his points to that and assume that he just fights lots of easy monsters in the dungeons if they even know that he does that.

Possibly most importantly, it sounds like he might constantly be in danger of failing. So logically there’s no reason to check how someone is obtaining points if they are failing regardless.

Lastly let’s not forget it’s the FIRST EPISODE. Many plot holes can be poked into practically every first episode for every anime in existence that, many of which, are explained (albeit poorly sometimes) later.

@kamane12 ok, theory is important, but it is needed to be better at magic because, after all, it is a SCHOOL OF MAGIC, you can understand that it has some points for theory, but it should not determine anything because the ultimate goal is to use it in practice. Dungeons are there to test magic in battle and any way to complete the dungeon other than magic should not be counted if it is a magic school that is supposed to teach you magic, the MC after 6 years is not able to perform the simplest spell and still completes the dungeon, doesn't it occur to anyone that he doesn't do it with magic? If in a magic school that is supposed to teach you magic, the final condition for passing is not the use of at least basic magic, then it makes no sense, it would be better if the MC went to a warrior school and his goal was to surpass magicians, or it could be that magic is the most important thing, but it is not a school of magicians and you can graduate as a warrior, not "I have no magic and I want to be the best magician" it is as if "I have no legs and I will be the best football player, they will put me on the pitch and I will just sit there despite that it makes no sense and I will pass the tests using theory, plus I will throw the ball into the goal with my hand when no one was watching, and no one will think how I did it without using my legs even though I literally have NO LEGS" XDD

@Ba-Cii10 You're not really saying much of anything. Becoming a mage is the only way to advance toward his goal. He excels in areas other than practical magic. Normally, he would simply fail because of his lack of magical ability, but he supplements that by earning extra credit from the dungeon, something that is supposedly in the rules, but that would never ordinarily be possible to accomplish by a poor ranking student. Given how paramount magic is in that world, it makes sense we would be ridiculed and looked down upon for lacking in ability, many want to see him forced out, and others are probably wondering how he hasn't flunked out yet. There's nothing illogical about these circumstances, given everything that we know.

@nhkam Already did. EVen ignoring that the plot makes no sense, Im sick of MC that helps everyone no matter how awfull those people were towards him. If the dude just waited for the monster in dungeon to rip his bully to shreds before jumping in I would most likely give this anime few more episodes. But I guess thats just another shounen anime for kids to teach them that "you should work hard and you should be good".

@Ba-Cii10 you should already know that magic school is the only thing that world could have with how MC was despised by most for not having magic, and its already stated in the rules of the school, as for why MC even got accepted, explaining that is spoilers from the manga, I'd say just wait for them to release the other episodes first(if they actually even decide to adapt that chapter), and, you are already comparing real world logic to a fantasy anime, which is stupid, I can go the same way as you, take physics or chemistry for example, you don't need practical to pass if you have a good grasp on theory, your marks from theory alone will let you pass. which is the case with MC here, as for the dungeon, what you said is headcanon you just made up, Dungeon is literally a different subject in school which gives you points as much as magic if not more as long as you kill monsters, and as the characters already said, its in the rules of the school that, graduation and being able to go to the tower is about having points all from these subjects

so, this is just the school having 3 different subjects, and MC just hanging there without failing by doing 2 of the 3 subjects, which somewhat is a thing in real world too(like medicine students getting passing and getting engineering with physics and chemistry alone when Math isnt even a subject that they know much about compared to other engineering students)

The whole point is that the school teaches magic to students who don’t know how to use it yet. How is the school supposed to know someone will never learn it? People who go to law school aren’t lawyers yet, so why would you expect a kid going to magic school to be a mage/wizard already?

I mean... the foundation of the show is designed in a way that he *can* become a magic student without using magic. I think the whole setup with the dungeon is at the same time ludicrous and boring. It's one of those shows where the entire universe in it is constructed in order for the MC to achieve their goals. Or, in other words: Contrived.

But hey, at least it looks stunning!

The dungeon is one way to earn credits, the how of it doesn't matter.

It was probably done this way because everyone assumed it would be done with magic.

Imagine in our world that to pass a sniper's course you needed 95/100 points to pass by hitting the mark from 600m+... but someone did so by blasting actual magic at it.

It would be unheard of, the rules aren't meant for that, we can't imagine hitting the mark that precisely without a high-powered rifle. That's why there isn't a specific rule against using physical force. If anyone tried they assumed those people would fail.
