Neither liked nor hated it.
Not much new content imo. I liked watching this right before season 2 as a refresher for the story. But i dialed the speed up to 1.25 since it was lots of known content.
I'm not reading any replies or comments directed at me at all. I know my truth and if you disagree: that's fine but i couldn't give a damn about :)

One of the greatest parts of BLUE LOCK is the showing of how to be independent as a player, to be the best and how fucking scary it is when a player is so confident that they will score. This movie shows one of the players as they grew through the trials from not really caring about the game and just doing it for someone else until they learn how to want to play and enjoy the game for what it is, striving to be the best.

Psychological warfare aside, this is one of the best ways to recap a story, showing someone else's side of the whole series up to the next season but also showing us why and how they end up there. The match with team z vs team v could have been shorter so that we could have seen more of Nagi's individuality but it is still a great scene. Nagi learning to be independent was such a good scene, really showed how much his friendship meant but also that he wants to pursue their dream more.

Some animation felt lazy and the montage on such a critical part of his story was annoying but other than that this is a great film. Especially for those who enjoyed the series, gives a whole new perspective on the trials.

Blue Lock: Episode Nagi is, as the name suggests, the retelling of Nagi's journey all the way up to the end of the 1st season with a massive emphasis on Nagi's own point of view. And it all starts from an accidental bump on a staircase between Nagi and Reo. Thus the dawn of their gay- bromance begins.

Out of the many peculiar players in Blue Lock, Nagi is one of the most unique, gifted with great physical prowess and overwhelming latent potential talent, yet... Unbothered. He is the very image of a diamond in the rough, and diamonds are one tough thing to perfect. Had Nagi never met Reo, or had Reo never dragged him to Blue Lock or had Nagi never encountered the internsity that is the clashing of egos during a match within Blue Lock, the Nagi Seishiro that we know now would have never been born. His defeat sparked a fire within himself that he had never realised existed...

It's only thanks to Blue Lock that we got a spectacular genius showcasing his talents for the world to see.

As a standalone movie, it's pretty average, but as a semi-recap-based movie, this is quite a well-done spin-off! A great transition from S1 to S2, considering Nagi's plays in the Blue Lock vs Japan U20 match!

this was pretty good, loved watching Reo bond with Nagi and Reo working to help get Nagi all excited about soccer. Funny to watch Nagi talk to his own cactus and just being a laid back emotionless dude who doesn't like dealing with situations that seem like a hassle. Nagi laying back in the soccer net was funny too, dude just wants to play some battle royale on his phone, which he is obsessed with. With Nagi realizing he can get his phone back if he makes goals, he awakens and makes a great bicycle kick goal. It was also cool to see Zantetsu motivated and fired up thanks to Nagi, who found Zantetsu's dreams of using his fast running skills despite being made fun of in the classroom very cool. The match between Team Z (Isagi's team) and Team V (Reo's team) was pretty interesting to watch from the perspective of Nagi and Reo, experiencing their first loss and how Team Z was able to improvise to make a comeback victory while Nagi began to recognize his ego. It was sad to see Reo get separated from Nagi for the 2nd stage, joining Isagi and Bachira in hopes of growing and changing since Isagi's team was stronger than them. Yet, Nagi lost against Rin's team in the 3v3 and saw Isagi in shambles when Bachira was chosen to move on with Rin's team. Bachira was hoping to stick with Isagi until the end, reminding Nagi of the promise he wanted Reo to keep, which is staying with him until the end. Solid 8/10
