First half with Mendou having tako problems kinda ruined the overall tone of the episode in retrospective.
Yeah, they paired a pretty silly episode with a very serious one. Two stories that couldn't be more different. But at least "Last Date" came as the second episode - so they sent us into the night on a more melancholy note. The other way around would probably be a bit strange.๐Ÿ˜…

The problem with this approach is that Rumiko's manga lacks the fancy animation of David Production. I've tried reading it after enjoying both the old and new anime, but it feels like too much of a downgrade. ๐Ÿ™
This is partly why I like to read the manga first before watching the anime. You can first enjoy the drawings and imagine in your head what the whole thing would look like animated before you can then experience the colored and animated version.

Especially with “Last Date” it was e.g. nice to read the fireworks in color. In the manga everything was just black and white and I was really surprised at how beautifully David Production conjured up a really beautiful dark purple sky.๐ŸŽ†

Of course, you don't have the same effect the other way around - if you've first seen David Productions' beautiful fireworks scene, the corresponding manga scene seems sobering. That's why I often try to get my hands on the manga before watching an anime.

But I also have to say that I really like Rumiko Takahashi's drawings. At first glance they seem a bit unusual because they are very different from the drawings from today's manga, but they definitely have their charm.

Her designs are what first attracted me to Inuyasha, even though I usually have little interest in battle shounen.

Akamaru means "red circle"
11:06 ๅคขๆ—ฅ่จ˜ (yume nikki) - dream diary

Nozomi means "wish; desire; hope". A nice name.
What did she say at 20:12? The lip movements don't match "thank you" (arigatou) or "I love you" (suki). Must be something else.

The second half was actually so wholesome and bittersweet T_T
@Embient I read her lips as Sayonara, its unlikely it was arigatou or suki variation

This time it's a relaunch of the 166 and 157 episodes of the original anime or the 274 and 247 chapters of the manga. The main problem of all the episodes is the shortened timekeeping compressed to 10 minutes, it turns out extremely messy and there is a feeling, but why did you watch it at all, the highlight that was in the original was gone. The second part was solved because this is one of the unique series of the entire anime, Ataru is the most human in it, in fact this is one of those series where there is no comedy, it is lamp-like, but 10 minutes is not enough, the main topic is not disclosed in my opinion.

late review but very good episode! first it was Mendo wath his octo problems. One night mendo goes to sleep then woke up with an Octopus spirt on top his head lol but that causes him to miss school for a week. Lum. Ataru, and Shinobu visit him and figure out the problem was trying to find his body. After a while trying to find the octo. They find him after Mendo splits the pillow in half when trying to attack Ataru. They find unconscious but alive and they resolve the problem ๐Ÿ˜„

Now for the main course, Sakura calls in Ataru after she gets a diary from a passed patient that so happened to really like Ataru. So Ataru comes in with Lum and Ataru hesitantly accepted the date with the patient. Turns out she is a ghost still on earth who just wants to experience life since she was bedridden in the hospital. Ataru and Nozomi go out for the whole day and it really shows Ataru’s character. In the beginning Ataru was being how he usually is all goofy and not really serious but as he spends more time with Nozomi, Ataru shows he can really be a kind gentleman. After spending tge whole day with Nozomi, she still hasn’t passed on and the gang finds out the last thing they need is to be under a “sky of white snow” so they just accept they have to wait till winter. Suddenly white fireworks happen right above Ataru and Nozomi and they share a very heartwarming and tender moment before she finally passes on. They congratulate Ataru for the whole day he put up with and told him he can finally take of the warm winter clothes Nozomi gifted him. He thinks about it and just says “i’ll keep it on a while longer” before finally the episode ends.
Definitely did not expect episode 10 to be like this but im glad it was. This is why we love Urusei Yatsura :)

The first part, about the missing octopus, was somewhat absurd.
The second part, the date with the ghost, was very cute!

That 2nd part of episode really hit hard. So sad that sweet girl is dead. Glad to see Atary has a good side as well. Really good episode

I cried at the end. Damn... Wasn't expecting to get emotional because of some random girl falling in love with our Ataru and so was him being such a sweet guy. He's a good guy for fulfilling her all wishes. She really loved our Ataru and he respected her feelings for him. :')

First half was a total waste of time, when you see what they did with the second one. Could've easily dedicated an entire episode over that, but yeah, no.

As far as treating Lum as that ghost girl goes, she should first start treating him the way ghost girl did.

Ngl the first half of the episode was kind of boring. But I LOVED the second half. Port-mortem ghost stories are almost always sad. To me this is the saddest moment in the series so far, especially since death isn't prominent in Urusei Yatsura. Seeing Ataru be so kind to the ghost was super wholesome for a character who's usually so lustful with girls. The ending was beautiful too! One of my favorite segments in the series for sure.

aw, hell. this episode was actually kind of nice, without the usual dumb shit ataru gets himself into. maybe he just needs a distraction from his usual antics and he'll improve a tiny bit as a character. first half was pretty filler though.
