| Damn, so Gabimaru might not even have a wife? That's a plot twist I didn't see coming. Senta dying was to be expected, I expected Sagiri to be mad at Yuzuriha though. Shion survived and played a big role in their survival, I thought it would be Gabimaru to be the first one to kill a Tengen. This show was surprisingly good, even though I feel like people learned Tao a bit too fast on that island. But the characters are cool, the story is interesting and the production value is also good enough. Very solid action-packed show, looking forward to season 2. Gabimaru and Yuzuriha best guy and girl. 8/10 |
| Here we are with the end of season one of Hells Paradise and what a season with epic highs and lows. Throughout this season ive disliked Sagiri but she has grown on me. Shion is defiantly my favourite character in this show. He really wants to avenge his pupil and im here for it. Its also nice seeing Nurugai again she has gotten strong aswell. Yuzuhira is also a really likeable character along with being really beautiful. One thing i dont get about this show is how much hate the animation gets when its pretty solid. overall 7/10 i will be here for season 2.   RIP Tenza. |

| wow what a simply beautiful and heartwrenching and awesome and beautiful all over again all the while anime. the simplicity is the strength of it. i will now anxiously await the rest of the adaptation while not spoiling myself with the manga. my only regret i mean only regret about the whole thing is in that final episode we didn't get to see Yuzuriha changing her clothes |
| Man who the fuck is Gabimaru really? That ending made my read his details and turns out he's only 16 and stand only at 4'11" Anyway, there's a sequel coming so that's good, and the manga is already completed that's good also. 8 |

| That was such an epic final battle for season 1. Now we got another problem, as it seems like someone has been playing with Gabimaru's memory all the time. Looking forward for the next season. |
| While on the whole I consider the series to still be good and solid I can't say there aren't things to critique. The pacing of this season was definitely more on the slower side. Having at least half of the season pretty much solely dedicated to introducing the characters put the main story quite a bit on the back burner. Which wasn't helped by what felt like an overuse of flashbacks with pretty much every character getting at least one - some of them also being rather long. Plus some long info dumps like on the background of the isle and the usage of Tao. Which all in all led to not much progess being made in terms of the main plot. If you think about it what actually happened can be summarized in just couple of sentences. Another thing that first only slightly bothered me but especially with the development at the end annoyed me was the character development for Gabimaru. Contrary to Sagiri who went through a steady and continous development accepting her weakness and gaining strength out of it, Gabimaru was constantly flip-flopping between him getting in touch with his softer side and then straight up regressing right back to his edgy loner "the mission is all that matters" ninja personality. So when he lost his memory at the end I was litterally groaning. Meanwhile Sagiri turned out the most interesting character for me. Probably because she overcame what I intially feared was her turning a damsel-in-distress. The other characters were mostly fine. Though Yuzuriha took some time getting used to. I didn't like her at the start but she grew on me. All in all solid first season that has me still interested in where the story will go and how the characters will develop from here on out. |
