So beyond wano I would hope the amazing bridge being built for Yamato to join the crew would come to fruition, what do you think about the strength dynamic of adding her to the crew? I love Sanji as a left hand but I’m curious if he’ll get demoted

Luffy does love his food along with a fiercely strong sense of loyalty too

We start with this random nonsense from Momonosuke. BRO, WHY ARE YOU A DRAGON AND SCARED OF HEIGHTS BRO?! I guess this is the result of him permanently having the mind of an 8 year old. Luffy just pointed out how high they were and the fact that they’re flying, but no. Momonosuke has to be a little chicken (the irony in this is in the fact that chickens are birds that can’t fly) and fall down. NOW YOU’RE INCONVENIENCING THE FIFTH EMPEROR.

Yamato and Kaido are still fighting on the top of Onigashima. Kaido hits Yamato into a cliff and confronts him with his club. Yamato then thinks back to his past, shortly after Oden’s execution.

Yamato claps the cheeks of the Animal Kingdom Pirates with such ease, even as a little kid. He was known as the Ogre Princess back then. Yamato slips, and then gets grabbed by one of the nobodies. Yamato screams about being Oden and all of a sudden, everyone is knocked out due to his Color of the Supreme King, AKA Conqueror’s Haki, AKA Conqueror’s Spirit. Kaido has Yamato locked up in a cell. He’s giving Yamato one month to quote on quote “cool his head”.

It so happens there are three samurai also imprisoned here as well. The blue haired swordsman is obvious Shimotsuki Ryuma, the one that Hyogoro talked about two episodes ago. Kaido gives the four enough food for one person, trying to get the four to fight each other to the death for said food, as well as giving the samurai swords to use. These three samurai are known to be the most savage among the Daimyo who stood up after Oden’s death.

Ryuma walks up in front of Yamato, readies his sword, and swings down in Yamato’s direction. We see that instead of targeting Yamato, he cut up a fly.

THAT IS SOME PRECISE SWORDSMANSHIP RIGHT THERE.

The three samurai give their food to Yamato, telling him that samurai don’t get hungry. Yamato accepts the food with such happiness and he’s very grateful to them for this meal. Yamato asks if he can be a strong samurai, even though he gets hungry, and Ryuma responds by cutting her chains. Now he can move freely.

They highlight how Yamato referred to himself as Oden. Yamato asks for Ryuma’s name, but he chooses to refer to himself as So-and-So.

From that point, Yamato trains with the three samurai to get stronger. Yamato asks them to help him read Oden’s journal about his travels, and they gladly fulfill his request. We get to see Oden’s journeys in a completely different artstyle than we’re used to seeing.

It’s so simple in terms of how many colors, but it looks so beautiful. This is another example of the greatness and badassery that is One Piece. This is another reason why it’s the greatest fictional work in existence.

Yamato says when the big battle happens 20 years from now, he’ll fight alongside the Land of Wano. The samurai decide to believe in Yamato and they won’t let her die. The badass music plays as the three break out of the Sacred Cave, knowing that Kaido will have the three of them killed.

We get back to the present, where Yamato and Kaido continue to clash with each other. They move about and then attack with their Thunder Bagua. The animation here is amazing, and seeing this clash of colors next to Yamato as a child is an amazing symbolic representation of how long this conflict has been going down.

I AM EXCITED FOR MORE ONE PIECE BADASSERY!

I loved this episode!! You can see the relationship between Oden and Kaidou! The samurai protecting Yamato was just incredible! As usual for Wano, the animation is movie quality!!

this episode is GOD, it has this yamatos flashback that show us how yamato knew about the one piece and odens adventures, we can see how riuma was when he was alive an that final battle was amazing, not only the animation was god but they made us feel so excited about all happening there.
