Once again, the series gives out another strong and intense scene with the introduction of L. The episode does a good job of showcasing both Light and L as geniuses going into a war of wits with each other, Light via the demonstration of his technique in hiding the Death Note and his wiliness to destroy it if need be and L via showcasing his wiliness to sacrifice human lives and put himself in danger to find the information he wants. The ending of the episode sent chills down my spine.

My favorite scene was Ryuk whining about being bored in Light's class.

Wow. Light is really smart. Not only in academics but also in time management and how he keeps the Death Note. I didn't expect him to be that detailed at all. I like that one of his reasons for keeping the book was because if he was careless then he would kill his family. I wonder if he will indeed not kill his family until the end?

But! L is already here! And he's smarter than Light! Hahahah. It was obviously a trap, but it was still satisfying to see Light's shocked expression. Let's see who gets caught first~

I forgot why I used to love this show as a kid but now that I'm rewatching it... I unironically got chills for the first time in years. The soundtrack is amazing, the tension and mindgames are amazing. I'm so glad this was one of my first anime.

Really liked this episode, I like how it shows how Light isnt as high and mighty as he believes himself to be. He claims to be doing this for justice by only killing bad people but still kills who he believes to be a detective who simply called him evil. I like how this shows that although Light is very smart, it still gets the better of him and his ego leads to a rather big mistake. Also it was just a smart play in general on L's part.
