I like Just Because, but I didnt love it.

Positives:

- I do appreciate how the anime took itself serious in the romance department without being overdramatic, meaning, in how the anime handled the romance with maturity and no soap opera/hollywoood overacting.

- This anime was at its best when it dealt with the transfer student and Komiya in terms of romance.

Negatives:

- The biggest problem with Just Because is that I NEVER SHIPPED NOR ENJOYED ANY OF THE SCENES between the trumpet girl and Souma. It just bored me seeing them together, which really brought down the anime for me. Even the two of them as individual characters bored me. The anime should have gotten rid of the trumpet girl, and just focus on the two male MC, the photographer chick, and the red-hair female MC.

- Episodes 7, 10, 11, and 12 were really good. But the other episodes were meh.

- Komiya didnt win in the romance department nor did she at least get to kiss the transfer student, so thats another negative. Like, come on transfer student, Komiya was the best girl with amazing melons

i like these sort of shows but this was just lacking too much. took me awhile to even get used to the characters and although i developeds favorites that i rooted for, i didn't really care what happened to them. Boring show that couldnt get me really emotionally involved and it had nothing else going for it. all that said it was still pleasant till the end so 6/10 for now

This anime was on my plan to watch for centuries

I think it was quite good. Maybe the plot could have been better yes.. maybe it lacks a bit of something, some moments/events to feel really special.

But at the same time, this is a good point of this show. This sort of aura if normality, you know? Maybe it's a little boring at times. But I think it's a good boring. Like a mixture of the boredom of everyday life and the anxieties that comes with relationships, future plans and etc.

Maybe the anime was not exactly "special", but it was good and overall a nice romance. The general atmosphere of the whole show is, for me, really the best aspect of this anime.

The characters, honestly, felt real students at that age, with that sort of worries and, also, I'd say their overall behavior seemed nice to me, like, it's like everyone one of them is anxious, but at the same time, they don't really do much about it. At least in my mind, this sort of resignation seems a good depiction of the average Japanese person/student I guess(?)

Of course, Komiya was the most charismatic character. Probably because she was the only one more energetic / spontaneous, so she really stands out. Her interactions with Eita the MC were really good. Honestly I did not know who to root for at the end

Guess they just need to stop creating this characters that the purpose is just to become
A losing heroine, it's too sad.

Not bad, but also not great. I liked mid part of the story the most. It is kinda crazy that she passed exam to better school and he failed to worse school while being smarter and getting recommendation :D
I guess they match each other with lame characters ;d Not sure what Ena seen in him..

Nothing new about the other pair :(

Anime was fun to watch.

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;)

This really should've been a movie of about an hour and a half of length, because it clearly had an issue of padding most of its duration with pointless, repetitive SoL and arbitrary dating clauses no one is going to realistically bother with. Additionally, every single one of the characters has about as much psychological depth as a plastic bottle, which doesn't help sustain interest.

This anime was pointless and boring. The characters were likeable enough, particularly Komiya, and the atmosphere and composition were great. There was just way too much time running around in circles. I get that their flaws were indecision and making excuses, but Jesus did they flounder and flail.

The relationships don't really make sense at all. Why does Haruto like Morikawa? Because she's cute I guess. But you'd think with him being hung up on her for so long, the talks with Eita would be full of everything great about her. Morikawa apparently wasn't interested in anyone, let alone Haruto. Why did she change her mind? Why did Haruto dislike it when she changed her appearance? I get being worried it might signify other changes, but you'd think a part of him would be thrilled.

Why does Komiya like Eita? Because he helped her out once, and she found him interesting. What did Eita like about Komiya? The same things. What did Eita like about Natsume? That she was cute I guess. Again, you've been hung up on this girl for years and years. Why don't we know this?

Finally. Why in the hell did Natsume like anyone? She liked Haruto because he picked her eraser up off the floor. Eita was always around supporting her. Every time she was unlucky in big moments, he was there OFFSCREEN to bail her out. But apparently when he shows up to emotionally support her for the millionth time... this time it's different because another girl is interested.

The wallpaper bit is stupid. Him failing the entrance exam makes sense for his lazy half-hearted character but is also stupid. How can he make it into a great university and not know how to google "how does I change my [phone's] wallpaper?" It would have been more interesting if he didn't want to change it.

But that's what this show really is: "It would be more interesting if..." Why didn't Komiya push Eita to join the photography club? Why isn't Eita actually crushing on Natsume's older sister? (She's serious because she's not interested in me.) Why isn't Eita using his college admission as a pretense to study with Natsume? Why isn't he attending her cram school? He doesn't have to take classes anymore. Why did they both wait so damn long to tell each other anything? "I don't like Haruto anymore." "Komiya was detained by police officers." "I changed schools." Why did we barely get any scenes of Natsume and Eita interacting in middle school? Where's the slow realization, "Oh, he's always been there for me."? I am upset that Eita didn't confess during the shrine visit. He all but said it anyway. But instead we have to hit home runs or pass exams that are weeks or months from now to do anything in this show.

You can be indecisive and beat around the bush with all of these things, but the writers were indecisive as well. They put little hints here and there, abandoned them on the floor, and magicked the plot into going the way they wanted. And to top it all off, the final confession was so lame and undunderwhelming. The real lesson of this show (as it is), should have been all of these people NOT getting what they wanted because they let it slip away.

I'm honestly struggling to give it a score. The things it did well, it did really well. The things it did poorly, it did really poorly. Am I just wistful over the OP and ED? The longer the show went, the more fed up I was with these people. And the more I wondered what they even saw in each other... 5.5/10
