Not often do I shed tears whilst watching anime, but this episode sure did it. Also, did I hear Swedish singing in this episode? If so, definitely a little odd for a Japanese anime, but it definitely fit in well.

The reveal of Rifana's skeleton was done pretty well, I think. Quite a touching episode in general. At least Keel and two other demihumans survived, so I assume they were being fed enough to at least keep them alive beforehand.

Also had to laugh a bit at the evil guy summoning tyrannosaurus demon and getting crushed by it within a few seconds. Giant uncontrollable monsters aren't known for being all that friendly.

We get Raphtalia's backstory and how she is who she is. She is strong willed despite the sadness.

That stupid heartless evil Lord deserved all he got.

The story of this episode is so brutal, before we only knew that Raphtalia was enslaved, I thought she had reached the beach and been found, but it never crossed my mind that she had to go through enormous pain right after regaining her hope, torture endlessly, the sound of her friend going through the same thing was distressing, and with all of this she still kept a smile on her face... and lost it some time later, fortunately she faced all of this, she stood up and with Naofumi she Can smile again.

Hey we get to see more in depth of Raphtalia's past and does it feel saddening to see her backstory and fudge that fat slave owner guy who tormented her. Cliffhangers are fun to say the least.

Damn that was tragic, Rifana's corpse being left just like that until there was nothing.

This is probably my favorite episode in an Isekai anime because it gave me the kind of feels that you normally wouldn't get from the genre.

Also they actually had the guts to kill off a character and show that not everything works out in the end. This would never happen in a more mainstream anime.

The next time someone tells me that Isekai is just wish fulfillment and fanservice. I point to this episode.

We got the backstory on Raphtalia, kind of disappointed that they willingly spared the noble, with that backstory to boot. Well he got killed by his own sommoning - some "karma" at least, but nowhere enough

So this was a really emotional and good episode.... up until seeing the CGI T-Rex. Like, wtf?!
I was slightly leaking from the eyes and the random dinosaur fucking made me pretty angry now. WTF?!

The Rising of the Shield Hero, episode 15.

For fuck's sake, Naofumi Iwatani is making a big mistake by stopping Raphtalia from killing the noble. Lucky for him, the bastard fell out a window.

Raphtalia finds the dungeon where she was kept. She discovers some demihumans there, including two of her old friends—one alive (Keel) and one dead (Rifana). Melty is there to witness it and is forced to confront how rotten her country really is.

They pay the price for not killing the noble when they had the chance. He survived the fall and releases a powerful monster as revenge.

Naofumi doesn’t have any moral right to tell others not to kill when in previous episodes he’s been shown willing to kill people who oppose him.

Very, very touching episode. It's not often that an anime can touch on a subject like racism without getting preachy and ridiculous.

Ok I want this capital to be destroyed Overlord-style, it deserves it. I want this entire city burnt to the ground after seeing what happened here. If that happened, no matter what the rest of the series entails, I'm giving it a 10/10

Again what a disappointment of an episode. Yea sure spare him because.... reasons. Let him keep living and torture more Demi-Humans cause you don't actually give a shit what happens to them.

Just give these characters some flaws. Watching perfectly behaving people is so god damn boring. What a garbage series!

There was no point in trying to let that dude live anyway - Raphtalia should have cut him down immediately. It'd have been much more satisfying.

On that note, she should have killed the soldiers too, considering they're obviously fine with all that dungeon shit.
