how do you rate an ecchi/hentai show?

I don't rate hentai. As for ecchi I just look at the actual plot and rate based off that.

The genre shouldn't really make a difference in how you rate the show. If you think it was good give it a goo rating but if it was trash give it a bad one.

I rate ecchi just like I rate other anime, from the story, animation, character, soundtrack, and enjoyment. Most of the ecchi show I watch, I give them 4-6 rating. The exception is only Highschool DxD (I rate DxD with 7 because the story is good too)

I don't rate hentai because I rarely watch that and most of them are trash (in hentai, manga are better)

Because these shows have an erotic purpose, I usually take into account the design of characters, the dubbing and if the animation has a decent number of frames.

My scores are based primarily on characters, relationships, and how they develop over the course of the story; plot, art and visuals, world building, etc... basically the same things that apply to all genres. The ecchi/fanservice content is just icing on the cake.

plastic little has the best fanservice i've ever seen in a regular anime.
the anime is really shit though, which is the only problem.

the bath scene in it, however, is the best bath scene, best fanservice, best drawn, best bounced, best animated ecchi i've ever seen.

think of it like this.

without the fanservice, the anime would be a 1 or a 3 at most.
with the fanservice, it is a 6 or possibly even an 8.

if you watch it, do yourself a favor and skip to 9:00 minutes.

if I'm not hunting for ecchi, and it appears too much in something this actually drops my rating for something. otherwise, I rate it as I rate everything, which is mostly average. however sometimes some of those stories turn out pretty good, but I tend to stick with average overall.

If the main goal of the show is just fanservice something like Keijo, then I rate them based on how good the fan service was.
If their goal is comedy along with fanservice like Prison School or Konosuba, then I rate them based on how good both the comedy and fanservice were.
Basically I just rate them on what the show is trying to be.
Like I wouldn't compare something like FMAB to a hentai while rating. FMAB's goal is to deliver a good story, so I would rate it on how good the story was. A hentai's main goal is to be a fap material so I would rate it on how good of a fap material it is. Because of which in some cases I might give them the same score.

I don't rate hentai, unless it is on Emergence level.:(

Ecchi or not, I rate it from the story line. Fanservice is fine but I might lower the score if the fanservice gets annoying and disruptive the actual story line.
I enjoy Blood Lad and Shokugeki no Soma. You get your fanservice and you get your story, a win win scenario.

Quality i guess?
Most ecchi shows focus on panty shots and boobs *cough*Rosario to Vampire*cough*
While there are some which focus on everything like legs, butts , lips etc. For example - Monogatari Series, Saekano

I score latter one more.
