I said that it's very biased to call such a situation you described, dumb and unbelievable etc...
Because that is how mental disorder works you know, it's kinda same like how some people have gender identity crisis, and it was accepted to occur as of trauma or bad parent figure/absense of parent figure, on the other hand homosexuality was started to be accepted in a mass when people just believed that it happens to be genetic and they were born so, hence hating them=dumb.
It really made things simple, a black and white, I won't lie, as of that reason, now that it is accepted, we can pull "genetic" bs off at somepoint in future when people will accept gay in every corner of world, but if you break this information to the public as how they ARE right NOW, chances are the Gay Burning of Africa will become everyday scene at third world countries.
It is simply because of fact tthat, no one really wishes their child to BE gay, even being born remotely different from normal, it is one thing that people can't choose if their kids are born albino, blind, etc on the other hand if homosexuality is just spectrum then it'll easily get to negative side of the world, that is called honesty.
It is as of this reason such you won't see your idea of it being actually in a scale of sexuality, told to people in general on internet or TV shows, or at any conference or political discussion, it is sort of an emotional empathy that someone considered a convenient lie is better than the harsh inconvenient truth regarding homosexuality
Because it takes away everything that is current generation's reason to accept gay people, that is "innocence" where they are simply considered to be born such, hence people of even strong homophobic tendency are often consider to not act on it, like they have stated in some cases (that is about rational person who was informed with the idea of homosexuality being just genetic and not a choice of individual).
On the other hand if you claim every one is homosexual, at same time it means that no one is homosexual if they don't decide to be so, that is same as saying that all / every person is rapist or pedo to some certain amount, and depending on situation they may act on it, I mean both are just biological responses, it's just cultural norms that decide what is right and what is not in such cases, hence I like to believe in the idea of "gene" it might be a convenient lie, but it's a kind lie.
Look at how incest is looked down upon for an instance, in pre-early human society their would not be much of an issue with a father mating with her daughter, I know it does has strong myths attached to it as well such as kids being born mutated, but it is not how it works (in reality, the chance kid inheriting a bad gene is very low, lower than 5% and even that depends on the case where gene happens to be just present in both family members, but that shaped our modern social structure so the idea that incest is sin, applies to this day even in homosexual couples where the chance she of inbreeding are simply null).
As of this, I also think you are lucky in case you have no offended any one, I do still suggest you to be on safe side by not saying every one is bisexual, it can be taken emotionally by actually bisexual and they tend to feel bad about it too.
