Yeah, she did say it in a good way anyway.

Anecdotes.

Too many OSes

I had divided my hard drive into three partitions to dual boot Windows 7, a backup partition(20G), one for Vista(240G), and one for Windows 7(30G). I decided the other day to split another 10GB from the Vista partition to add Ubuntu, because, you know, dual-booting wasn't enough I guess, and I wanted to try Linux. So when I went to boot from the CD, turns out I wasn't really paying attention to the setup I guess, because it has a utility to split off its own partition, but after I had it running from the disc I couldn't open Windows anymore without BSOD after a minute outside of Safe Mode. Had to get a backup drive, took 3 hours to backup everything, 22 to entirely wipe the hard drive, and another 4 or so to get me back to my original Vista state (first I tried running Ubuntu to see if I liked it but it was too restricting, then I installed Windows 7 RC1, before I running the most recent BETA as I hadn't installed the RC yet, but ended up going back to where it was). I guess I'll wait for the Windows 7 release, because I'm lame like that. :-)

Sighs* I wish I knew how to do what you just said...GOSH!!
...I wanna have windows 7 too...or at least see if its better than vista...im not really interested in Ubuntu tho...Im a simple guy and Ubuntu seems like MORE work! :P
...That kinda sux that you messed it up but just the thought of having 3 OSes is AWESOME! :)

...Hey GUY! where you getting all this stuff...Im referring to windows 7! :P

Ubuntu is probably as bare-bones as it comes, and highly manipulable. Well, having three OSes may sound cool, but I guess I should have stuck with two.

RC1 is still available, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx

But you should get an MSN account, and download the 32 bit version if you have a 32 bit system.

You can only download them until Aug. 20. It will work until March-June 2010.

If you have a 64 bit system, you can get the 64 bit or the 32 bit version. But I would get the 64 bit version.

You don't have to wipe it. In fact, I recommend against it. Depending on how much hard drive space you have, I would partition the hard drive and install it on a separate section for dual-booting. Having two Windows OSes is no problem. If you have Vista, partitioning is really easy, too.

You can download it, burn it to a disc, and decide later. You can find a site that will can you how to partition your hard drive if you want to.

I don't even like windows vista so I'm a bit afraid of windows 7 lol

story from today ~_~:

I was on the way to work and crossed a road. I honestly don't know if it was me not paying attention or the driver's fault but I got hit by a car that was coming around the corner. mysteriously.... I didn't break anything and the car wasn't damaged, even though I got lifted off, slid across the hood and then up the windscreen. The left side of my hip is purple and my shoulder also hurts like a b*** but apart from that, all good o_O
since that is the second time that I got hit by a car though I would say it was prolly my fault... I don't pay enough attention :/

so a "thank you" goes to my busy guardian angel, I guess.

My god. I saw someone get hit by a pickup while I was riding the bus a few months ago. The person flew several feet, was on the ground, but ended up just getting up, a little disoriented, and was okay. I'm really glad nothing happened to you today, it's frightening.

Yeah, it's weird how some people are lucky in situations like that and others break their necks falling off a chair or something "trivial" as that :/
I really need to pay more attention.

Whether you pay attention or not (which always one should), sometimes it's just those unexpected occurrences. You can control yourself, for the most part, put you can't control the actions of others.

yeah, true that. but I know that the first time I got hit by a car was my fault and could have been avoided if I had actually payed attention and since I cannot control other people's actions I should be even more careful. I guess. I will have forgotten about that in two months anyway, I'm afraid but oh well

two times. and once I nearly got run over by a car when someone tripped me and I fell onto a busy street. but that wasn't my fault really D: and that was far more scary than being hit by cars because both times I wasn't really hurt. but when I fell on the road I thought I was dead for sure. the driver who was coming towards me was quick enough to hit the brakes hard thankfully but I could already see the underside of the car when it had stopped.

It's because you live in the city, right? Does that sort of thing happen a lot to people then? I've never really had close calls with getting hit by cars that I can recall, but the streets aren't that crowded.

hm... of course the chances of getting hit by a car are bigger in a city than in a one-horse town :D
I know lots of people who also grew up in my hometown or bigger cities that have never been hit by a car and others who had many close calls like me. I guess it always depends on the person. like, on how careful they are, if they're clumsy or not and of course on luck.

You could get hit by a horse in this town.
I guess it would be clumsiness compounded with your situational circumstances then.

nothing compared to this sneaky giraffe.

.......

which reminds me of a story from school. my philosophy teacher was sick so they had our crazy drama teacher take over the class for a week. don't know what the hell this woman was talking about the whole time but it sure wasn't philosopohy.
one lesson she had us read a text about the female fear of spiders and insects. our teacher then said something like "blah blah blah... because of this blah blah... women are always more scared of small things that could attack them unseen. men on the other hand are usually afraid of bigger things."
a (male) friend of mine then shouted "like giraffes!"
the whole class laughed and she was just like
"yeah, for example or a horse.".... she was serious of course.

I really doubt that woman knows what a tautology is. she is also a teacher for german literature and doesn't know anything about "The Sorrows of Young Werther", for example, which is a book most students here have read at least once after 11th grade D:
