I have some loose change hanging around in my PayPal with nothing to spend it on, so I have decided to buy a dakimakura. (body pillow for anyone who is unfamiliar) I was just about to buy one when I noticed there were all these different kinds of materials you can get and I really have no idea what any of it means. Here's a picture. Is there any noticeable difference between the materials, or should I just forget it and get peach skin which costs nothing extra? I'm aware that a lot of people on MAL hate this kind of thing and wouldn't be caught dead having one, but I figured I should ask anyway just because there's a chance I could get a serious answer. P.S. No hate posts telling I'm a weeb or something, please. |

I don't know what difference would be, to be honest. Maybe just go for peachskin and with the money saved, buy another one? |

Depends if you're getting more than one. If not, I'd shell out for the most expensive one (I forgot the name of it). If yes, buy one expensive one and one cheap one and see for yourself. Google around and look for testimony on the material texture. If people seem generally satisfied with the texture, then go for the economical option, or compromise for the inbetweener. ======= On a side note, I'd suggest saving the money and investing in an onahole instead. NLS has some interesting stuff. Pm me for details you dirty animal. |

You must be buying a custom dakimakura, I tend to avoid those as the quality of them isn't as good as the ones that are official (either standalone or as BD and magazine bonuses). |

P.S. No hate posts telling I'm a weeb or something, please. An official daki cover can cost anywhere from $80 to $250 (closer to the latter, most often). If that's "loose change" then just man up and buy the most expensive option for whatever this is you're buying. Custom ones are cheaper - but they are also cheaper quality and not worth spending a dime on. Seriously, custom ones are shit. Even the free giveaway ones that sometimes come with volumes of dengeki are better - let alone the real merchandise ones. I hope you realize the actual pillow is a separate purchase as well - and body pillows (especially ones the perfect size, as the covers the Japanese make don't fit our usual body pillow size by about a few inches, pillow being too short) are actually pretty pricey, so another 80 or so dollars on top of the rest. |

I had no idea that there were official and custom ones. I do want to get what a pay for, so maybe a custom one is a bad idea. And Tallon I do know that the pillow is a separate purchase and I could always just add more money to my PayPal later on. So no problem there. |

And Tallon I do know that the pillow is a separate purchase and I could always just add more money to my PayPal later on. So no problem there. If you are picking "skins" it's not official. If you are picking images, it's not official. If you are not buying it from a site like amiami or another reputable place that only sells official goods, it is not official. If you find it on ebay it has like a 90% chance of being unofficial. If you find a site that is in English and does these on a per-order basis, they are incredibly likely to be not official. Official daki are very obvious but also hard to get due to selling out from preorders, not being overly mass produced, and being expensive. Some of the lower end ones are easier to find, like those K-ON ones with two different characters, some promotional ones, or something like this biribiri one I got from a Dengeki that I just have folded up because I don't like the design and have no big pillows. The nice ass ones are not cheap and are not the easiest to find - let alone find and be sure they are the real deal before having it in your hands. You don't have to worry too much about official I suppose, if you don't care too much and can find something that is at least "alright" quality for a reasonable price, and that won't fade in a week (another issue with customs). |

Bought mine in an Anime Convention, so I have no idea but I think it's probably Preach Skin (No additional cost) 'cause the fabric is gradually having this rough texture when I don't even sleep/use it. Think it's better to just buy the most expensive one. |

Well, I have an official anime cushion (figured it's close enough) and I don't have either of those problems lol Official pillow covers (including the small ones!) won't have these issues because they are printed professionally. Most custom sites/people don't have the same fabrics nor the same high-cost devices needed to print it and give it a long life span. |
