Master of Saber: Rintarou Okabe
Emiya Residence

"What is this organization you are talking about?"

The question stunned Okabe. He gawked at her for a moment before thoughts began entering his head once more.
"You mean you have not heard?? The Organization is behind the most diabolical of diabolicalness! If you are ignorant of their workings and of their hidden agenda, then you live in a happier world than I."

Okabe puffed out his chest, and looked into the distance almost solemnly. "But I cannot falter. If the organization wishes to destroy me for refusing to submit to their will, I shall take them on head first! That is the the scale of the threat we are dealing with, my dear. They wish to rule our bodies and control our minds. Hououin Kyouma refuses to give in to such tyrannical demands!"

With his long-winded rant over, Okabe fell into one of his unhinged fits of laughter.

"Well, I wouldn't say that my life is all that great..." She started as she looked down at her feet. Bringing her hand up to rub the back of her head softly. Before she then looked back up at him to continue listening to him. Watching the strange man as he continued to talk about this mysterious new threat. She raised an eyebrow and gave Okabe a firm head nod. "Woah master of Saber...That is so cool! Very well then. When this is all over, I will also help you fight this evil that tries to harm the innocent! can't allow these brainwashing schemes to continue without my knowledge!" She said taking him pretty seriously as she stood up and took a heroic stance.

But as she was about to continue her statement, she turned and watched Shirou as he walked out with the food. Despite how much she thought that Okabe was fighting for a good cause, her stomachs need came first. She instantly sprinted to Shirou, and snatched a bowl for herself before sitting down at the table and started to gulp down her food. Making loud, almost annoying sounds as she quickly cleaned her bowl like a vacum. She probably wasn't even breathing between breaths as she ate. Then when she finished, she let out a small burp, and then held her hand to her mouth. "Excuse me.." She then turned to Shirou. "Hey! Can I have seconds pretty please?"

Overseer: Caren
Location: Shinto, Fuyuki Church

Once the others had finally made their leave, Caren let out a sigh. That Emperor Shrimpy in particular had been surprisingly irritating, since it was like he was reading Gilgamesh's mind and relaying his thoughts out for him. And had she just been called 'Caren Kotomine'?

In any case, to settle the matter, she had decided to give out some information by telling Gilgamesh that - "I don't know his exact identity, but Lancer is perhaps one of the most powerful demigods out there."

So that was that, and now here she was, free to continue her duty. Observing Raviel and looking over the war's events, it seemed that Elizabeth had made a contract with Caster, and that, surprisingly enough, she'd teamed up with both Team Archer and Team Saber...not to mention they were both having breakfast with Team Rider. Seriously, what was this all about? If the four of them made an alliance, then that could-

No, actually that could be very convenient.

Thus far, she had already talked to Team Gilgamesh (assuming Kirei was a part of them now), but she still had plans to question the remaining teams. If she went there, she could handle four at once, leaving only Team Caster and whatever Team Assassin turned out to be.

...that wasn't the real reason why she wanted to go there, was it?

"Berserker."

"Yes, milady? What is it?" In response to his being called, the gigantic man materialized in front of her.

"Follow my movements from a hundred-meter radius, but see to it that you are not discovered. Even if you're a Berserker, you are still Heracles, correct? The Raviel Scripture shall provide minor support, but that is all that can be offered. If you are indeed found, then do not let our contract be found out."

"Understood." Berserker nodded, before disappearing again.

Afterwards, Caren turned towards the entrance of the Church and walked out, having only one destination in mind. Even though she was still fairly far away, even from this distance, they must've been feeling a chill.

Servant: Archer
Master of Archer: Emiya Shirou ((Temporarily controlling with player's permission))

Tohsaka residence, half hour earlier

"We're heading to my house; I can't let them see Rin's, especially not Caster", Shirou told him telepathically.
"Smart choice", Archer muses with sardonic voice, then continues more seriously: "I'll join you later. It's not good idea to have you alone with Caster."
"Doesn't certain someone needs to recover from his idiocy?", Shirou asks with sardonic voice as well, referring to wounds Archer got during his fight with Lancer.
"About a hour of being away won't hurt; I'll be at full power until the night. Besides, someone needs to secure that you don't poison the guests with you cooking", Archer calmly responds and ends the conversation.
'But still... both Saber and Caster, eh? Rider also did...', Archer thinks as he resumes cleaning he started. Before he heads there, he could at least finish things here.

On the way to Emiya Residence, half hour earlier

"He really goes on my nerves", Shirou mutters with expression of extreme irritation.

-----------------------------------

Emiya residence, around 8:40 AM

The dining room was livelier than ever.
That made Shirou happy, as he remembered those blissful days he spent here.

"Hey! Can I have seconds, pretty please?", Elizabeth asks him.
"Right, right", Shirou responds and brings out 2nd round; what he's already been prepared has already been devoured, mostly by Elizabeth... and Saber. Especially Saber.

As he brings out the food, he carefully observes his guests.
Saber has been silently eating food like she always did.
Her Master, Okabe, has still been spouting random nonsense, while suspiciously examining the food in front of him. Shirou felt slightly irritated because of that.
Elizabeth has also been eating food, almost as fast as Saber, while still somewhat conversing with Okabe, seemingly interested in his ramblings.
Bazett was quietly eating her food.
Rider and Caster... ehh...

Looking at the scene so serene it was almost surreal, Shirou couldn't help but smile. His hair was partially silver in places, he got few centimeters taller and his skin was tanning like the scars - the result of the overusage of his only ability - but other than that, he was still the same Shirou he was from when the 5th war ended. He almost radiated happiness, but in that smile was also sadness; sadness that the person he'd like to see most here is missing.

"Here, eat as much as you like. I'm going to prepare more", Shirou says as he puts new food to the table before retreating back into the kitchen, humming happily.

Tohsaka residence

"So, this is what happens when you leave him alone with the bunch of women", Archer sighs in defeat. "But, on the other hand... Until I come there...", Archer mutters as he smirks and opens a telepathic link to Shirou.
"Master, I'm apologize for saying this", he starts, trying to sound as innocent as possible and failing, "but what would Rin say if she saw you right now?"

Emiya residence

Shirou drops a plastic bowl as image on the furious Rin passes through his eyes.
The content spills on the floor.

"Ah, sorry, I'll clean this in a moment", Shirou weakly apologizes to the group in the dining room and starts cleaning, trying to remain quiet and spectacularly failing: "Archer, you triple-damned mood-breaker."
Once he's cleaned, he resumes working on the food.

Finally bringing the last batch of dishes, he sits with his guests and quietly eats. While he eats, he senses that Archer has finally come as well, but chose to remain in spirit form.

As his guests finished up their meal, Shirou turned around to raise an eyebrow at Archer, who seemed to be deep in thought.

"Well, Archer?" Shirou asked. "What's the plan?"

Archer finally dematerializes, leaning on the wall in standing position with his hands fold and eyes closed.
He remains few moments silent, as if he's ignored Shirou. Shirou starts tapping the table lightly with his fingers... and then Archer finally responds.

"Quite an unusual group gathered here", he speaks up mockingly. "And by some sheer coincidence, majority of the group are women... and quite a troublemakers. Rin won't be happy that you left her out of this little gathering, you know."
"Oh, shut up already", Shirou grumbles quietly as he looks downward with his face red from embarrasement.

After taking few seconds to enjoy the humiliation he gave to Shirou, Archer finally responds to the question his Master asked him: "Assuming that everyone here wants to end this War, otherwise so many teams wouldn't gather here. But before that...", he glances suspiciously at Caster: "What are your plans, Caster? I doubt that Witch of Betrayal would've quietly come here without already scheming something."

Hahaha. This fake priest never ceases to amuse me. Just what could he possibly be intending to do, I wonder? I glance at the Emperor of Shrimps as I analyze the various possibilities, naturally lending weight to those that would give the most Yuetsu. The witch will certainly find her way to the other masters.

"Tell me now, Kirei, what is it that you have in mind? Certainly that twisted mind of yours is ever-scheming. What information do you have on this demigod that your daughter speaks of? We may be obligated to eliminate such a detestable being from this world. And as for you, the 'Emperor' of Shrimps, what do you intend to do?"

Location: Emiya Residence

All of a sudden, the sliding door was slammed open as though hit with a sledgehammer - although, considering how the Bounded Field hadn't been activated, despite her impolite manners, the intruder in question must've not had any malicious intent. At least, not blatantly.

"Yes, I would like to hear an answer to that question as well." Caren says with a smile.

At the entrance of this war's Overseer, the dining room had gone completely silent.

"Oh my, what a rude welcome. Isn't this a Holy Grail feast? After all, there's Team Archer, Team Saber, Team Rider...and of course, the new Team Caster." She regards everyone currently present, as well as the food they're eating, before turning to Shirou and, for just a moment, her smile adopts a hint of sadism. "Or is this an attempt to form your very own harem, Emiya Shirou? Pretty much every female in the war is currently in this room, save Lancer's Master. Were you hoping to woo them all over with Archer or something?"

...

"In any case, I'm sure there's no problem with my presence, yes? It seems that you're all almost done, but that's fine - I only came to talk anyway."

Casually ignoring the complete change in atmosphere, she sits down at the back end of the table, and turns her attention to Team Rider first.

"Bazett, an Enforcer, eating peacefully with others? Pfffttt. I don't believe it, but when you and Rider launch your surprise attack, please do it once I'm already out of the vacancy."

Afterwards, Caren turns towards Team Saber. "Saber, you've certainly done well replacing your previous Master with an even more eccentric man, so congratulations." *claps dryly* "And as for you, mad scientist... Delusional as you are, perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to accept this bizarre reality."

Then she glances at Team Archer for a moment, as if thinking about something regarding the odd but ridiculously appropriate duo, before shrugging and turning straight to the newest team.

"So! It seems that you're doing extremely well right now, Elizabeth. And it's only been a night. My, trauma these days is so easy to get over, isn't it?" She says with a smile. "And as for you Caster, as I was saying earlier, I'd like to hear an answer too... Well, I don't really care about your actual plans. Go ahead and betray everyone if that's what you want. I really came only to ask a single question. Hmm. May as well ask everyone else while I'm at it."

Then, after having disrupted everyone's thought processes with her carefully-chosen words, the priestess stood up and crossed her arms, intending to address all four teams currently present.

"Team Archer, Team Saber, Team Rider, and especially Team Caster. Tell me, one by one. What is the reason you participate in the Holy Grail War... Or, to be more exact, what are you fighting for?"

For everyone else, it was a mere question, but one girl in particular would be especially affected by it - that is to say, Elizabeth, who was under the geas of 'obeying Caren's every order'. Without a doubt, she must've been intentionally planning for this to happen...

After all, even if she was the one who helped her, she couldn't stand the sight of happy people.

Kirei took a third glass poured to him by the King of Heroes. He leaned back in his seat, comfortable to be in the presence of both gentlemen.
"This is not the first time this demigod has appeared in the Holy Grail War. As soon you're ready to hear it, I'll tell you everything that I have been taught. Additionally, Caster was good enough to observe the incident with Lancer in the park while I was being held up at the church. This means I was able to see through her what other masters would see his rankings to be, even though they are false. He uses an ability to distort them."
He took another sip before continuing. "It is also just as well for us to be prepared for every possible scenario. The other masters - Caren included - are probably very confused over why I left, so they might potentially act very erratically. We should make sure we're prepared."

"What do you mean? Are we in trouble?" The former student turned master asked.
"Honestly, I have no idea if we are or not." He put the empty glass on the table. "However, it is not too much of a stretch to imagine Caren or one of the other servants killing Caster; either out of suspicion, or just to eliminate a wandering servant. Other alliances might also group up and try to eliminate you soon, Gilgamesh. You're one of the strongest servants in this war, and if they learn from Caster that I have left her and I'm with you now, it becomes even more likely that they will attack here at some point soon."

Elizabeth nodded in thanks as she took the bowl and as Caren walked in, she simply didn't bother at fisrt. But as soon as Caren brought up her trauma, she instantly began chocking on her fppd as she inhaled it, before she spit it back out in her bowl and took a deep breath. Looking into her bowl. About to comment. Before she realized..Caren was right...It had only been a day sense the death of Ashikaga..yet she already was moving on and willing to forgive...what kind of person was she? If Ashikaga would be looking down on her right now...What would he think? Would he be proud? Sad? Feel betrayed?...She had been worrying about food, and all sorts of things to get her mind off of her sorrow...She decided that it was best to push it off for the moment...For the future....

But no, that was wrong? Or was it not wrong? About Ashikaga...His family...How does he feel about her going against his goals? But surely it was for the better..She didn't want anyone to suffer the same way she did...What was so wrong about that..The pain she felt..The pain she still harbors inside....The memories, the pranks, the laughs, the arguments, the training, teasing, the light hearted conversation and side talk, the way he always worked so hard to keep things positive for her...She would never forget...That man...And the man who masterfully executed his demise...But Ashikaga trusted her to allow "Him to win." Not only did she turn her back on his goal for the grail...But she had continued on as if everything was normal..Even accepted Caster as her master..

She bit her lip as a tear came from her eye before she blinked it away and let out a large exhale as she turned to glance at Caren, clenching her fists. But she didn't speak. Elizabeth had made the geas with Caren. Despite the fact that she was obligated to follow Caren's orders. Thye had a very confused relation ship. Even though Caren had saved her life, she couldn't help there being something very off about her. She didn't like it. She would probably have to ask her about it later...And Berseker... Should she had considered Caren a full fledge master in the grail war? But she was an overseer? Why would she want to be in the war? Or was there another reason for owning a sevrant? Protection? She seemed more than capable to protect herself....What was she after by becoming a master? Maybe Caren would give her some insight later on..

But what about the geas? Should she tell hose with in her own alliance about it? Or keep it a secret? Would they dis trust her if they found out about it? Or would i be beneficial if they knew? She would definatly have to sleep on that one. But perhaps she would consult Caster about it...There were many many things she needed to discuss with Caster privately. Speaking off, Caren had only made the situation worse for Elizabeth trying to figure out a way to bring some light to Caster's name. Her hand trembled a little bit. However she tried her best to keep calm and keep the rest of her body composed. To many thoughts ran through her head all at once to concentrate... But she sighed deciding she would be the first one to answer such a question. Sense Elizabeth obviosuly couldn't repel the geas.

"If that was really all you wanted to ask you should have just started from the beginning...Why I fight Caren? I wanted to continue? I fight because I want to end this vicious cycle of tragedy. I want to prevent another holly grail war from ever happening. To end all holy grail wars is why I fight now. And it will be my goal up until the very end..." She said trying to make sure it looked she was just really open about her motives..Which she was..But still.

Master of Saber: Rintarou Okabe
Emiya Residence

Okabe was just on the cusp of recruiting a new lab member in Elizabeth, when a stranger entered.

Right from the moment she had entered the room, Okabe got a chill. The young girl introduced as Caren was beautiful, but one look at her eyes set off all of the mad scientist’s internal alarm bells. Her smooth, sarcastic way of speaking; her passive gestures; and her cunning eyes all told him she was an enemy. He wasn’t sure if she was working for the organization, but she could not be trusted. The impression he got from her was similar to when he met Caster’s previous master just prior to the first battle. Quickly glancing to his side, Okabe noticed that his servant felt the same way he did. Saber glared at Caren and was gritting her teeth the entire time the visitor spoke. She had dealt with many untrustworthy people in her time, so her instincts knew when to sense a deceitful person.

The difference between master and servant in this case was that Okabe had a fascination for her that Saber lacked. His brow was knitted for a long time while he studied this mysterious person and her movements. When it finally came time for his team to answer the question of why they were in the war, Okabe stood up and began in a very predictable way.

“Even if we were foolish enough to tell you our motives, do you really think we would do so in the presence of competing masters?” He held his arms out and slowly waved them around the room at the others - like he was performing a grand reveal to an audience. “I’ve been dealing with shrewder forces than you, young lady. Don’t imagine that you can get the upper hand on Hououin Kyouma. We shall not say a word to you. This extends to my servant as well - you are bonded to complete secrecy, Your Highn . . .”

Saber scowled at her master with such a look of disapproval that he stopped before finishing.
If you reveal that I’m a king in front of them, I will kill you.

Okabe was not so thick that he missed the murderous intention in her eyes. “ Your . . . uhhh . . . well . . . Highn---dquarters, yes! That’s it! Your hindquarters! Yours have been looking a little broad - must be all that food you've been eating lately. Just thought I’d let you know that while I instructed you to keep quiet, my trusty companion. Carry on everyone, I have made our team's position clear.”

Okabe sat back down with his back straightened and his arms folded, trying not to notice the visible fumes of rage and embarrassment that his partner was emitting.

Location: Emiya Residence

Bazett sat munching her food quietly, while her professional eyes scanned her surroundings.

Coming to this meeting in the way she did is proving to be very beneficial, for she was able get a better grasp on the situation the war was in at the moment.

Right now the entire thing is being stalled, and not in a positive and advantageous way.

Berserker still lives with the status of his master still unknown. His old master is sitting in this very place sharing her food with one of his... "murderers".

'Well, the living bait aside..." She thought to herself as she switched her eyes to the stunningly blonde servant. This is their second meeting but she's still just as amazed.

The servant radiated elegance as she sat... eying Archer's master?

Her eyes immediately caught what the servant was trying, quite poorly, to hide. Does she have an interest in him, or... did the interest reignite?... The gesture was stored in her mind regardless.

Her eyes skipped Saber's master as she focused on Archer. He seems very similar to his master, yet still differs so greatly. He's smug, cynical, childishly cocky, and hangs a big 'I'm hiding something' sign on his chest.

Even as he blatantly interrogates Caster, he still-

All of a sudden, the sliding door was slammed open as though hit with a sledgehammer as the overseer Caren Hortensia barged in in an all too convenient timing.

"In any case, I'm sure there's no problem with my presence, yes? It seems that you're all almost done, but that's fine - I only came to talk anyway." The overseer reassured.

Casually ignoring the complete change in atmosphere, she sits down at the back end of the table, and turns her attention to me.

"Bazett, an Enforcer, eating peacefully with others? Pfffttt. I don't believe it, but when you and Rider launch your surprise attack, please do it once I'm already out of the vacancy."

An unintentional twitch made itself visible on my face.

Is she really the overseer?

What was The Church thinking?

After Caren Hortensia finished antagonizing the rest, and visibly enjoying it too, she asked.

"Team Archer, Team Saber, Team Rider, and especially Team Caster. Tell me, one by one. What is the reason you participate in the Holy Grail War... Or, to be more exact, what are you fighting for?"

...

What kind of question is that?

Or rather, why would the overseer be even remotely interested in the answer?

...She doesn't like it. This situation just screams fishy.

After Saber's master... did his thing, she remained silent.

Sharing information with others wasn't, at any time, a part of her common sense, and she doesn't owe the overseer an answer either way.

Ahh, dear Elizabeth, how nobly foolish you are. There is no such thing as "ending the cycle of tragedy". Even if there was no Grail War, people would find something else. Humans are beasts, after all. And those like you tend to be the ones doing most harm. But you will learn.

Saber's master was expectedly idiotic. Chuunibyou... was it? Caster almost feels pity for Saber. Almost.

Woman called Bazett (apparently Rider's master) remained silent.

Caster's turn. Time to nudge back.

Food. Saber had so much of food. Shirou's cooking was back in her life and all she could do at that moment, despite the gathering of a handful of unfriendly Servants and Masters, was follow her insatiable instinct to eat.

As she chewed her way through the little get-together, she tried to keep a small part of her brain dedicated to monitoring her surroundings.
Archer had materialized and he stood near Shirou, possibly trying to make life harder for him (although it did not escape Saber's eye that the two seemed to be getting along together more than she might expect).
Rider and her Master did not appear to be of any threat value currently.
Elizabeth was holding an inquiry with Okabe--Saber had started to wish that she'd never brought him along.
Caster was still around, and presented as the greatest discomfort to Saber's peace at the moment.

It was then that another uninvited guest made an appearance at the Emiya Residence. At first, Saber was caught off guard, half her noodle slipping off her lips and falling back into the bowl.
The Overseer was here. Caren Hortensia, as everyone seem to be referring to her. The King of Knights was surprised at the extreme youth and beauty of the Church's Priestess. Not that she was one to talk when it came to a deceitful image, but the Overseer was far beyond what Saber had expected when she thought of the last one. Speaking of which, Saber was unable to shake off the feeling of a striking resemblance between the two: while the white-haired girl carried no physical attributions of Kotomine Kirei, her mannerism, her eloquence and her seemingly calm words wrought with underlying threats made it difficult to not place her next to the vile ex-Master of Caster.
Were they related?

"...Or, to be more exact, what are you fighting for?" She asked.

Before Saber, whose mouth was stuffed, could answer, her Master stood up to take the question in his own hands. Okabe almost gave away her identity, but he managed to deflect the query. While the entire thing could have been handled in a much more... less idiotic manner, Saber was glad he'd spoken.

She was starting to feel uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. She did not like the current popularity that befell Shirou and Archer in their very own house. One can also say that she felt a tad bit... envious. She had hoped to be able to talk to Shirou, to ask him about his plans, to ask him about everything. There was so much she wanted to talk about, so much that she wanted to know. And with so many others here--so many women here--Saber felt dwarfed and ignored.
More than that, she was afraid that Okabe might ruin things for them.

"Master", Saber called out. "Let us return to the FGL."

''I intend to do something to make this War more enjoyable for us, King of Heroes. We are gonna drown in Yuetsu''
But for now, i need to plan first how to start the small flame that will burn the whole City.

Overseer: Caren Hortensia
Location: Emiya Residence

Caren gave an appreciative grin towards Elizabeth, before turning towards her Servant with a more solemn look.

"Hmmm? Caster, I simply wish to know whether or not you Masters and Servants have the required will to fight in a battle. How can this not be part of my job as an Overseer?" Caren asks, tilting her head innocently. "If there was anyone participating who felt dragged in or didn't wish to involve themselves, then it would be unfair to leave them to their deaths, now wouldn't it?"

Then afterwards, the Overseer stood up. "Bazett Fraga McRemitz. Hououin Kyouma. You and your Servants haven't given me adequate responses yet, but considering how so many people are present right now, that's understandable. Thus, I'll leave it on this note for now, but do think about it, since I will be visiting you again sometime in th- ugh...! In the future."

As the words are coming out of her mouth, she suddenly winces in pain a bit near the end, shutting her eyes tightly for a moment before taking a glance at the complacent Rider with eyes that were redder than when she first came in.

---it's only natural. Though everyone else is perfectly normal, the presence of Rider alone is enough to trigger her Masochistic Pneumatic Automatism Diathesis. A psychic, hereditary illness triggered by the presence of demons, attempting to simulate their traits. Probably, if she stood here for another ten minutes, she'd go blind trying to imitate the Mystic Eyes lay behind that blindfold.

Ever since entering the dining room, her eyes have been in pain as a result of that, but has been enduring it all this time with a smile. Really, minor pain like this means nothing. Rather, what it does is enhance the feeling of satisfaction of her current actions.

Finally, she turns to the last remaining team, the only ones who haven't given any sort of indication of whether they would answer or not.

"So that leaves only you, Emiya Shirou doesn't it?" Caren asks with a snide smile, regardless of her own pain. "And of course, Archer too. Apart from Elizabeth, the others have been uncooperative but... Surely, pacifists like yourselves would see no problem in revealing your intentions?"

Servant: Berserker
Location: Miyama, Fuyuki City

Berserker observes from a distance whilst in spirit form, over a hundred meters away. As he is not actually of the Archer class and his mind isn't exactly the clearest, his connection to his new Master is what assures him to lay low.

It seems that she is in pain - however, this is not as a result of an attack, as she does not appear to be calling for him to help. Should something actually happen, it would take only a few seconds to smash through the Bounded Field and into the residence to recover her.

Laying low, the Berserker remains uncharacteristically silent. Even if he was now a Berserker, he originally had qualifications for six of the Servants save Caster, and that includes the stealthy Assassin. His mind may be partially lost to madness, but his instincts were more than enough to properly guide him.

Thus, he continues to observe from afar.

"Master", Saber called out. "Let us return to the FGL."

"Of course." Okabe was bit startled at the request - but the situation had changed with the addition of the overseer, so he didn't mind.
"Since we have no more to say to you, we shall make our leave. You may ask us what you wish at a later time in private, but don't think us defenceless in the absence of allies. I assure you, we a more than formidable on our own."

The idea of the overseer visiting them again for questioning made Okabe a bit nervous. As stated before, his instincts told him not to trust her or even to speak with her. She may play innocent, but there is a scheming villain behind that unassuming face - a femme fatale if he had ever sensed one.

Once they exchanged their farewells, they began slowly walking back to the Future Gadget Lab in silence. A spiritless atmosphere settled on the two which made Okabe uneasy. Turning to his servant as they walked, he caught a glimpse of Saber looking somewhat depressed - which surprised him.

He shifted his gaze forward once more, but his brow was drawn down again as he began worrying over what was troubling her.
She's sad? Why? I suppose I was a little crude back there with the others, but she wouldn't be this injured by what I said, would she? She wanted to leave very hastily, is it because she's embarrassed?

He continued spinning these questions in his head for a few minutes longer. Unable to reach any satisfying answer, he resolved himself to asking her why she was in such low spirits, and apologizing if it was due to his own foolishness.

"Saber," He couldn't believe for a second that he had used that name. "Are you feeling okay? Is something bothering you?"

Okabe's voice entered her mind, breaking through her reverie. She didn't remember hearing her Master's current tone before in any prior conversation. It appeared that the Mad Scientist was serious for a change.

Saber's mind was a bit numb. Her alliances were on the wrong side of the battlefield. Without thinking of the consequences or of the situation of the person she was talking to, she told Okabe everything--the 4th Holy Grail War, the 5th Holy Grail War... and the boy she had loved.

...What am I fighting for?

The question the overseer had posed him was too easy to answer. After all, he had already found his path, withstanding pain to create the many weapons that spearheaded his ideals. Rin, Saber, the Fifth War, and even the red idiot had all helped to guide him to where he was, and his mind was clear as to what he wanted.

I want to save everyone from evil, particularly this War. But most importantly, I want to protect those important to me from harm.

That was what he was fighting for. That was what gave Emiya Shirou meaning when his life needed none.

But he couldn't let the overseer know this. Not her. She was suspiciously powerful, with her ability to seemingly alter reality after the battle with Berserker, and she had not revealed her own motives yet. He let his thoughts drift over to Archer, and felt approval from his Servant.

He agrees then, that she's suspicious...

Shirou turned to face Caren, and said, "I fight to save people from this war. That is all."

He was never a good liar, of course (unlike some dumb guy he knew), and he could see that the overseer was not even close to being fooled.

So. Plan B then.

Taking a leaf from Rin's book, he turned the question straight back at Caren. "So how about you? What do you want, overseer-san? Why did you come all the way here?"

And mentally, he told Archer, Enter spiritual form and scout the area. She might be buying time for an ambush.

At this point, Saber had decided to leave with her Master. While he would've stopped her, most of his attention was still focused on the white-haired girl in front of him, her aloofness unimpeded by his intense glare. He could only give a half-hearted reply before turning back to the overseer.

He hadn't turned on his magic circuits yet, for fear of others noticing such an act, but he had the hammer in his head ready and the blueprints of Kanshou and Bakuya at the edge of his consciousness, ready to spring into existence if they needed to.

Some might wonder why Shirou would be so suspicious, and some would question his sanity, wondering why he would be so wary of a young girl.

But he saw something in her. He recognised an old foe. There was something more to her that unnerved him, and he could not help but be ready to fight for his life.

Shirou knew that this girl, Caren, could very well be more dangerous than Kotomine Kirei himself.

Elizabeth just sighed and and shrugged when she caught the appreciative glance from Caren. She supposed that some interest had been taken in her, sense Caren stuck her neck out as far as she did to save her. There conversation when Caren had saved her still flashed in her mind like a never ending knightmare Even despite the fact of that geas, she couldn't understand why Caren cared about her, or the answers on why everyone wanted to fight. To be honest, the only reason she still wanted to fight was the hope that her dream could be realized. Turning to glance at Caster as she finally decided to speak up. Then turned back to look at Caren for her response.

Man..Why did Caren have to come and make things so tense...To her Caren just seemed to be a trouble maker. Which might have been the only reason she helped Elizabeth, in order to spit everyone around her for her own amusement. But it could be more then that. But Elizabeth had stopped trying to think about it at this point. It really wouldn't help her that much to know, and she had a lot of other things that she wanted to be answered. When she continued to watch Caren, raising an eye brow when she noticed her wince in pain. Following Carens glance to rider...

What was she doing? How could she affect Caren in such a manor? Who could say really. The more she thought, the more she realized she didn't know. And it really started to upset her. Then turned to watch Shirou as he got up and spoke. Even though he didn't really reveal much as far as what his goal was. At least she new that Archer had not lied about his master and her sharing the same goals. Or at least, they were very very similar. She narrowed her eyes as she observed his posture, and the way he glared at Caren.

It seemed like everyone had to have about the same thoughts about this mysterious overseer. Despite the fact that Elizabeth felt very wary and strange about Caren and her presence. But at that moment, as she observed everything going on around her. She felt something very strange considering this situation she was in. Very calm. She decided the best option for her was to find a way to get a moment with Caren at some point and try to figure everything out from there. Until then, she would just observe as everyone else spoke.

Just as he asked Caster a question.

SLAM!

He looks at the newcomer, who chose the best possible timing to enter.
"Oh, if that isn't little miss priestess? How strange for you to leave the protection of your own sanctuary", Archer asks with his usual smug voice.

As Caren interrogates others, Archer remains silent, closing his eyes during the whole process.
When it finally came time for Shirou to respond, Archer opens his eyes and looks at Shirou. Sensing Shirou's thoughts, Archer doesn't nod but instead says to him telepathically: "You can't be too careful around her."

. . .
"Enter spiritual form and scout the area. She might be preparing an ambush."
That, surprisingly well-timed and well-thought, order came from Emiya Shirou. Archer finally moves away from the wall and heads towards the door and speaks: "Well, I've wasted more than enough time here. Unlike most of you here, I'm busy dealing with this insanity called Holy Grail War."

As he passes Caren, he stops for the moment and speaks quietly but clearly audible to everyone, including Team Saber who started to leave as well: "You want to know why I'm fighting? Well, I'll have to disappoint you, and my reason isn't anything I have to hide; I'm not seeking the Grail. What I'm seeking is an answer to my question, and I hope that I'll be able to obtain it if I help my idiotic Master. That is all", he finishes and dematerializes.

Exiting out, he first leaps on the Emiya Residence itself and looks around, checking for enemies. Then, he leaps away from it and starts scouting in the wide area around the residence, somewhat hoping that he won't find anything and will be able to return to Tohsaka residence to recover completely.

"My, Emiya Shirou, such unprecedented hostility, and I haven't even done anything. Or do you think that I'm suspicious, due to your past experience as the Fifth War's victor?" Caren remarked casually. "Don't you have a detecting Bounded Field though? It didn't activate when I came in, and thus, I am perfectly innocent."

Caren starts to take small, periodic steps, gradually circling around the table with her arms behind her back and a smile on her face, passing by everyone one by one (though she kept her distance from Rider). Even with the odds far, far against her, there is a definite dark aura she's emitting that didn't seem to cease. Her demeanor shows no signs of being bothered by Shirou's antagonistic behaviour, and rather, it's like she's reveling in it.

When Archer tells her about how he only wishes for an answer to a certain question, her smile only grew even more as she continued on.

"Well, I see no reason for a fight. Even with the Holy Scripture Raviel, there's only so much I can do on my own against three Servants, a Conjurer, an Enforcer, and of course, a superhero like yourself. I don't start fights I have no chance of winning. How about you, Emiya Shirou? Do you start impossible fights?"

By the time Caren is done speaking, she is standing directly in front of Shirou, with less than a meter of distance between the two of them. Staring coldly into the eyes of the boy, her smile - lacking any emotion - does not cease.

"That's right. You cannot save everyone in the world... But you can at least try to save the people close to you." She says as matter-of-fact, looking completely through him before he can even answer. "The nameless many, whose cries are heard by none, have no impact on your life. But so long as you prioritize protecting the ones who would impact your life, you can feel satisfied about your existence. How cute - even now, you are still worthy of the title Avenger."

Then the priestess nonchalantly walks past him, making her way over to the exit. "Well, this has been a rather pleasant morning, I must admit, but I'm afraid that we'll be parting here. Should you seek information, advice, or sanctuary in the absence of a Servant, come to the Fuyuki Church and I will be happy to cooperate."

Caren opens the nearby door, but just as she's about to walk out, she looks over her shoulder as if to say something.

"Rejoice, Emiya Shirou. This time, your wish might actually come true."

And on that note, she leaves.

"How about you, Emiya Shirou? Do you start impossible fights?"

Shirou tightened his fists, his anger barely in control. The way she paced around the table, the dark aura around her as she paced...it was just like him, the priest that he hated more than anything in the world.

And then the girl was no longer in sight, replaced by a tall man with a mullet.

You.

Subconsciously, his magic circuits had flared as he heard the question. zzmit-zzt-zadzzt-ztt-ks had, without Shirou's conscious volition, targeted the enemy in front of him, and Kanshou and Bakuya were ready to move at his command. He was less than a metre away from him, dark priest cloak billowing and his eyes ever taunting, and Shirou began his mantra.

I am th-

"That's right. You cannot save everyone in the world... But you can at least try to save the people close to you."

And the next thing Caren said forced all processes to a stop in Shirou's head. He blinked. Kotomine was gone, and he was staring back at the overseer, his mind still in a frenzy.

She had hit so close to heart, almost quoting his compromise with his childish ideal word for word. She was scarily correct, and that still unnerved him, but he wasn't facing his mortal enemy, and he could control himself that much.

He dismissed the falchions in his head, as he half-listened, half-wondered exactly what made him mistake Caren for the fake priest. Sure, she paced around like him and had this dark aura, but hadn't she said she wasn't here to fight?

Shirou barely heard whatever she said before she made her way to the exit, as he reflected on how close he was to actually attacking her.

She's not Kotomine. She's Caren Ortensia, not Kotomine Caren. They aren't related. They shouldn't be. It's a hallucination, something I made up. I must've been too stressed these few days...

He was about to follow Caren to the door when she looked over her shoulder.

"Rejoice, Emiya Shirou. This time, your wish might actually come true."

Rejoice.
Rejoice.
Rejoice.

And as the door closed and his guests wondered what just happened, Shirou continued to stare at where Caren stood, the word she uttered leaving him completely paralysed.

Master of Caster: Elizabeth Reed
Location: Emiya Residence

Elizabeth observed the two as they spoke. Her eyes shortly following Archer as she watched him leave, and describe what goal is. Which kind of made her frown from the cliff hanger he left them with. Her interest in Archer's question made her sigh. She will probably forget about it soon anyways. Before she silently listened to the conversation between Caren and Shirou as Caren started to pass by everyone. Which made her shift awkwardly when Caren got to her and lowered her head a little bit. She looked at Caren as she spoke once more. Her tone was cold and stale.

"That's right. You cannot save everyone in the world... But you can at least try to save the people close to you."

Elizabeth slumped her shoulders and lowered her head when she heard that. While it was not directed at her, she still thought about it quite a bit...People close...She didn't have anyone like that any more. All she could do was hide behind the false hope of a hero. So that maybe one day it would pay off for her and she could end all future grail wars...If it couldn't save everyone, it could at least save a few. She shook her head, shooting those thoughts into the back of her head, and once Caren left. Elizabeth's excitement came crawling back into her face. Then put her hands together making a loud clap sound.

"Well I would have loved to stay and chat! About alliances and what not, but! I know we will have more time for that later!" And spend the night, not out in the cold, wet grass and stiff park benches, she thought sense she would rather not cause trouble. "But er, me and Caster need to catch up a little bit, a bit of bonding gal to gal chit chat." She said getting up and turning to wave to rider, and her master. "Well it was a pleasure to meet you, hope we can meet again before anything gets to serious!" She then turned to look over at Shirou and dipped her head respectfully. "Thank you for feeding me! I really appreciate it I owe you one. I hope we can also talk again fairly soon. Just gotta get some answers of my own." She waved to all of them as she walked out

Waiting for Caster to follow, and once she did, Elizabeth had a lot of questions for Caster actually. One of the first things she wanted to do though, was to let Caster get what she wanted to talk about out of the way first. Besides, she always really enjoyed talking about her magecraft. "So Caster, I don't really have a place of my own where we can converse, so we are just gonna take a little stroll...No one important should be able to interfere with our eavesdrop. If that's to uncomfortable for you though, I know a few places around we can hang out. But anyways, what did you want to talk about as far as our magecraft?"

Ending the conversation with Shirou, he heads back towards Tohsaka residence.
And then he spots Caren leaving the residence completely.
After quickly considering something, he lands in spiritual form down on the street and, as she starts walking down the street, he materializes as she starts passing him, leaned on the wall of the Emiya residence.
"Leaving already? You should've tasted some of the meals, maybe you'd join his harem as well. Or at least save some of your money, as that was his intention when he invited Caster's Master."

"Don't worry, I'm not seeking trouble. We're in the city in the broad daylight after all", he says with a smirk on the face, then adds, suddenly becoming serious: "I just have one question for the Overseer. Has the Assassin been summoned?"

Once Elizabeth and Caster has left, Shirou turns to the remaining guests: Bazett and Rider.
"Erm, I don't think we've introduced each other. I'm Emiya Shirou... as you figured out, I'm Archer's Master", he says, trying to sound perfectly normal as he pushes his emotions and thoughts back.

Just as the white-haired girl has left the superhero's home, his Servant, Archer, just so happened to be there to greet her. Sensing no hostility from him, she frowns at first, but then relaxes her expression once he's asked her what he wants to know - "Has the Assassin been summoned?"

"Intriguingly enough, no. No one has stepped forth to claim the Assassin class, even though the Holy Grail War may as well be considered underway by now. No magus has stepped forth to summon that particular Servant, and honestly... It's a little troublesome. If nobody summons Assassin, then this Holy Grail War might as well be considered a failure."

Caren lets out a sigh, showing her exasperation at the situation.

"You know, I was actually hoping that Elizabeth would go and summon Assassin for my convenience, but since Caster became available, I have no right to complain about that. Still though..."

She crosses her arms, as if in thought, before turning straight to Archer himself.

"Well, I suppose giving out information like this should be fine once in a while, though it's unbefiting of my duty." Caren spoke seriously. "Right now, the most likely possibility is that the damned priest Kotomine will summon Assassin, since he's the only Servantless magus in this whole city capable of doing so... But I really don't want that to happen. He already has the King of Heroes on his side, and with a Servant of his own like that, it would endanger this war too much. A Servant that will crush you if you fight, and a Servant that will find you if you hide - that combination is far too ridiculous!"

Her voice becomes a little fast-paced, and it sounds like all she's doing is venting, complaining about these inconvenient circumstances, though her tone lightens a bit afterwards.

"So rather than him, I would prefer Assassin to fall into the hands of someone, or really anyone else. Even a Servant would be preferable at this rate. Caster did it once during the 5th War, so she could probably do it again, being a magus and all..."

Then, as though realizing something, Caren focuses on Archer's face. "Hmm. Come to think of it, are you not a magus too, what with your projection? I don't know your identity, but it's easy to tell that your nature is very different from that of the other Servants... More, modern somehow? Perhaps, if you actually got a Command Seal, then..." But she quickly shakes her head afterwards, chiding herself for even considering it.

"Ah, forget it. It was but a silly fantasy of mine. Casters are advanced magi so they could probably do it, but an Archer? Ha ha, that's laughable."

She chuckles slightly at the very concept before proceeding to resume walking down the streets, in order to return back to the church.

"My apologies for that rant. In any case, that's the situation regarding the Assassin class. Use this information as you will, Archer, for it's all free of charge."

"Second, you seem to be specializing in the school of conjuration, I have noticed. What I was wondering is... Do you have the knowledge about summoning Phantasmal Beasts? Archer has been looking at Caren with serious look as he asked a question, but upon hearing Caren's response, he smirks in satisfaction.
"Well, well, that works in my favor...", Archer speaks up intentionally, having noticed Caren's hatred towards Kotomine. "Out of 8 Servants, excluding me, 6 are present. And of them, 3 are conveniently around Emiya Shirou. That leaves Lancer, whose identity is still unknown... Gilgamesh, who I'd be able to deal with if not for one... problem... and Heracles, who either disappeared... or conveniently found a new Master", he then looks at Caren as he says that last bit with pure speculation.

"At least I don't have to worry that my Master will get backstabbed. But who knows, maybe Assassin wasn't summoned because Gilgamesh was summoned as 7th Servant, eh? Based on what Emiya Shirou told me, this whole Grail War is one huge irregularity...", Archer thinks aloud in front of an Overseer. "Anyway, even though it's not in my nature to say it, thank you for information. You've removed one worry from my shoulders", Archer surprisingly thanks Caren.

Once Caren resumes her travel to the church, Archer dematerializes and heads towards Tohsaka Residence, to use its ley line to recover completely. 'Today's night will be exhausting for everyone...', he thinks as he goes back.

Elizabeth thought about it for a moment as she bit on her lip, to her that sounded like a great idea. But she had already set up operation there..That had to mean Kotomine and perhaps even Gilgamesh, who she assumed were still partners, also knew where this base of operations was. So it would be a pretty risky move if they actually decided to head there instead..Buts he let Caster finish as she spoke about summoning a beast..She grinned, however at first it looked of more of a bitter sweet one....The summoning of phantasmal beasts...That was the same type of stuff she was planning on teaching Ashikaga that day..

She nodded as her grin changed to a quick second of a mournful quivering expression to a sharp grin. "Ahh yes, phantasmal beasts...They do not have the same constraints as summoning servants, legends or items. However it is a lot harder to keep such powerful beasts under control. Yet there brute force has been known to be truly intimidating by people all across dues ex machina... How ever. Everything that has happened in this war is fair game. I could give it a few shots with what I know about current modern conjuration summons....However, I notice many different things about conjuration magic in this grail war compared to regular conjuration, which makes me worry."

"For starters, when observing the Berseker circle, I noticed that these summoning circles still hold up to conjuration I am used too. However they are very, very ancient. More like from the very begging and seemed very outdated and dangerous...I was spectacle at first because these were the kinds that could suck people into duex ex machina, cause hallucination, death, mental instability and many other horrible things. However, none of these things resented in myself or any other master. Secondly, you all have no time limit constraint's and are able to fade in and out and are able to do as you please. You also seem to have much more power than anything a normal conjurer can summon, even for a top dog like myself...And lastly you seem to have no connection to the alternate universe of dues ex machina, nor do you seem to actually be human. As far as I an tell."

She paused simply ranting on at this point. "I think we can do it if we put our heads together, it should be pretty simple once I get used to it all again...But that being said, first I want some questions answered. The first being do you really think it is safe at this temple? And does kotomine know about it? And does this said beast have a name? Can it break the laws of conjuration like you people can? Such as exceeding amounts of strength, will, unlimited time length, what kind of things can it do? Will it be complicated to control? Does it need a object to summon it like you servants did?"

Servant: Caster

"He does and any mage from around here should be aware of the great potential that place has, however... There are a few things in our favor. My bounded field covers that entire temple and any enemy servant entering would find itself weakened. Further more, huge amount of collected mana would allow me to use my magic much more liberally and in worst case I would be able to sense anything going on in near vicinity of it so even if anyone tries to attack us in group, we'd know well in advance. It is the best defensive location in town.

"As for the nature of the beast... Well, it is a dragon, so you can guess it's strength yourself. But the summoning should be simple, as long as one knows proper spells. The only thing needed is this."

Caster carefully shows Elizabeth her Golden Fleece.

She nodded and shrugged. "Well your right, it is better than sitting out in the open I guess. The more mana would defiantly be better." She said as she looked down at the golden fleece that Caster pulled out as her eyes widened and gleamed with intrigue as she looked at it. "Wooow, that is quite the object Caster! That is frigging beautiful, absolutely amazing!" She praised as she continued to look at it with a wide grin. I wonder what kind of great creature can come from this beautiful thing. She paused though, before returning her calm posture as she glance up at Caster, re adjusting herself

I don't mean to disrespect you, But you did say that I could ask you any question I wanted earlier, and as my partner, I really don't want to doubt you in the slightest, nor do I want to judge you. But I just wanted to know..The Witch of Betrayal....That's what Archer called you. What does that mean? How did you get that name? And why does everyone act so stiff around you? Especially Saber, what is your relation ship with her? How do you two know each other?"

Caster ponders for a few seconds and answers.

"We... don't. I don't know how they know of me or my identity, but I don't remember any of them. We haven't interacted in this war almost at all. It does trouble me slightly. As for my past..."

Caster pauses again. After some more pondering and considering her options Caster decides to tell Elizabeth her story.

((Yea, I'm not writing up all that lol. I hope you know her backstory. Or should I quote it from tmwiki?))

Master of Saber: Rintarou Okabe
Fuyuki City Bridge

Okabe was expecting a detailed answer, but he would've never guessed that the depressed expression he'd seen on Saber could be so tied to so many other mysteries he'd noticed. So this young king had fallen in love with her master in a previous war. That means that this isn't even the second time she was summoned! She's appeared in a couple of these fights to the death in recent years.

How could I have not known that these battles were taking place? Have I been so blind that these spiritual beings can engage in wholesale warfare inside the city without my knowing?

They both stopped as they were crossing the Fuyuki City Bridge. The two stared out over the river, thinking things over as evening began to dawn.

"So, it's because to these feeling you have for this Shirou fellow that made you want to leave before, wasn't it?" Okabe asked, leaning the railing.

"It is." She replied, somewhat weakly. "I understand that we were supposed to chart out a plan, but just seeing everyone there vying for Shirou's attention." She trailed off momentarily. "It made me realize that I was just there as an ally - someone he just needed to win the war, and nothing else."

The appealing tone in her voice had become increasingly low and more uneven. Her last remark caused a wave of emotion to sweep over Okabe. While he did not realize it at the time, he was lamenting his servant's loneliness.

He turned to her from the river, determined to say something to alleviate the oppressing mood that had set over both of them. However, the sight which met his eyes almost made him lose heart.

He quickly looked away and his face tightened for a brief second.
Damn it Okabe, don't lose your cool now. Both of you can't fall to pieces here.

He turned back to her. "You haven't to worry about our present course of action, King Woman. Our path is clear, and our victory is assured!" He straightened his posture as he spoke, trying to inject some of his old confidence into both of them. "You have but to continue fighting by my side, and the ultimate trophy can't but be at the end of the road!"

Saber continued staring over the metal railing, down into the river below.

"Which is why we're going to fix your situation with Archer's master." This line from the mad scientist caused his servant to glance up at him, slightly bewildered. "We shall mend this relationship, and put your mind at ease before this war is over. You clearly have a personal problem, and we will make sure it is resolved."

"But master, this issue will not affect my fighting ability in the slightest. I only told you since I feel you should know the whole story, but it isn't necessary for us to try and fix this."

"That matters not!" Okabe put his hands in his lab coat pockets and closed his eyes - mostly so he wouldn't have to see her face while he spoke. "Even if it's true that this won't take away from your performance, then accept that we are fixing this so it won't affect my performance. I will not change my mind on this."

Master of Caster: Elizabeth Reed

She started to walk on as she listened to what Caster had said and her eyes glanced at her as she spoke. She didn't know? What did she mean she didn't know? How could she possibly have not known anything?! She had to know something! But she didn't really want to push it down her throat that much. She had already doubted her enough. Elizabeth also found it strange how Shirou, Archer and Saber seemed to know a lot about some of the people in this war, almost as if she had known them long before this war had started. Which was very strange, but it didn't bother her that much. The only thing that really bothered her was how everyone remember Caster in such a negative way. To her, Caster was just a victim and she didn't really appreciate it.

However, she stopped thinking about it as she continued to wonder. But it could be noticed soon that she didn't actually seem like she was wandering, she might have actually had a place in mind that she wanted to go to before heading to the temple. She then listened to her story as Caster was generously willing to explain. Giving occasional shocked glances, or frowns a certain parts of the story. Up until the point she finished which made her bite her lip and turn to look up at Caster. She felt really bad for he girl..She had been through so much for the sake of pleasing one man...And in the end, still betrayed.

Elizabeth started to realize more and more that the pain that they shared was increasingly similar...She herself had lost a loved one, and also had been betrayed by a love one...She could really understand Caster from that point. A massive emotional scar that would never leave. Elizabeth could still remember Ashikaga's death clearly and vividly, just as she was sure all the horrible even'ts of Casters past were also still engraved into her mind. But at the same time, as bad as she felt. She also was very grateful. That Caster seemed to trust her enough to share such deep moments of her entire life...What it must have felt like...She slumped her shoulders and sighed. Bringing up a hand through her greasy hair as she scratched the back of her head softly, and then began.

"Well, listen Caster..I am sorry..For bringing back up those scars...I know we won't have time for it in the near future. But if you ever want to talk about it, any of it...I will happily listen to what you gotta say. It is the least I can do for letting me know." She said giving Caster a weak grin and a thumbs up. As they continued to walk she coughed once before speaking up. "Well, I also got a few things you should know about me, nothing personal though. Just about the war. First thing, you are probably wondering where berseker is right? Well, he made a contract with that overseer Caren. And now she is his master...And secondly, in order to return to the war and grab a command seal, I had to form a geas with Caren. geas that compel's me to her will when ever she so desires...I figured these would be good things for you to know in the future. Just make sure nobody else does." Not like she believed Caster would anyway, but just encase.

She paused before she continued. "I am sorry I have been dragging you all over where you probably don't want to go. But before we go back to your temple and start getting to business. I want to make sure I have a understanding of what Caren is at, and what exactly I should make of our relation ship. It won't be long, I am just gonna ask a few questions and we will be out of there. Promise." She figured Caren might not give her any clarification. But even the tiniest bit of insight was better than none at all.

Location: Shinto, Fuyuki Church
Time: 11 AM

A mechanical, yet enchanting sound resonates throughout the whole interior of the church. The sound of a large pipe organ at the end being played by a suspicious priestess.

It is a beautiful and complex piece being enacted as though intended for a church orchestra - however, despite this, it lacks even a single note of emotion. Loyally following the sheet to the very end, without a single key out of place. It ought to be a masterpiece, and yet, this lack of variation could prove to be maddening.

Rather than it being the 'organ' of a human being as it ought to be, a natural extension of their will and emotions, it's more artificial, like the 'component' of a robot that fails to understand how human emotion factors into music.

And yet, this itself is not bad, for the piece with its mechanical motions and its multi-layered complexity, sounds as though it's attempting to tear into the hearts of all those who happen to hear it, to revert them back to the natural order of immaterial components. Killing their minds with its intensity, and tricking them with false emotion when there is none beneath it all. Never too high, never too low, and unchanging towards the very end, making one feel like they want to relax but too wary to actually do so. Her fingers moving not on impulse, but on principle.

In a way, it is haunting. It may hurt, but there is meaning to be gained from that pain. It may be boring and unpleasant, but that does not change the fact that it is complex and meaningful in its own way.

The opposite also holds true; no matter how deep the original song was or how much emotion the composer put into it, it means nothing if the current player is a dull and unpleasant woman. She has clearly mastered every note, yet it still sounds off from the spectacle that it ought to be.

It was impossible to tell how much time had passed whilst such distracting music was playing, be it just a couple of minutes or a whole hour, but it would certainly feel like it lasted forever. Timeless.

And thus, when it finally came to a close, any listener would be left in a daze.

...Perhaps that is simply the nature of Caren Hortensia.

...

Once the Overseer is finished, she gets up from the bench and turns around to greet the newcomer. Berserker is nowhere in sight.

"Why hello there, Elizabeth." Caren greets her. "It has only been a little while since my visit, and I can quite vividly sense Caster on my grounds, so clearly you haven't come here to seek sanctuary... In which case, you must have come to seek some sort of information or aid from me."

As usual her voice sounds heavier than it should - signifying that the geas won't go away anytime soon.

"Thus, I'll ask. What brings you here?"

Elizabeth came in a few moments earlier, enough to hear the end of Caren's performance. Elizabeth slowly clapped a few times as Caren finished and Elizabeth begun with a single head node as Caren approached her. “Well, personally, I think you need to spice up your performance. But what would I know? I don’t play music.” She shrugged and then listened to Caren’s response as she greeted her. Elizabeth nodded in response. “Yes, well you are right about that. There are a few questions that I have been thinking about sense the end of our first encounter the other day...And I would like to get some answers, maybe a bit of insight on what you are thinking?” She started as she paused for a moment, she was sure Caren wouldn’t give her any definite answers. But even a hint was better than nothing. “But anyways, why did you save me and berseker that night have possibly benefit you to save the both of us? I know it wasn’t out of sympathy. That isn’t like you. You had to have had some sort of purpose for it all. And why did you make that contract with berseker? Should I consider you a master now? Despite the fact that you are also an overseer? What do you want out of all this? And what role do I have to play? Why did you use this geas on me to compell me to your will? What could my loyalty possibly serve to you?”

She started to ask Caren all of these questions as they came to her head at that moment. She was annoyed, not from the questions themselves, but how she felt. Hearing Caren’s voice, simply answering her question about Elizabeth’s business in her church. It made her feel very heavy. But yet, it also made her feel good, a false sense of euphoria. It made her feel relieved and satisfied with herself, which she assumed could only be contributed to the geas Caren had put one her. She absolutely hated these false emotions that struck her.

~ Church on the Hill ~
(highly recommended since this is going to be a fairly long infodump)

Caren lets out a sigh at the sudden barrage of questions, but then again, perhaps that itself was as a result of the Self-Geas Scroll, in which case she had only herself to blame for such a wide array of responses.

"Very well then. It may take a while to answer all your questions, so please, take a seat." She gestures towards the pews of the church, and whether Elizabeth liked it or not, a force weighed down upon her, forcing her to do exactly that.

Although even after having said that, Caren herself remains standing with a quiet expression on her face.

"So, first of all, you wish to know why I saved you and Berserker. But before then, perhaps you should know exactly what it meant when I went out of my way to do such an uncharacteristic act. This may take a while."

The priestess glances over her shoulder, back towards the pipe organ- No, rather, towards the glass chandelier floating on its own above it, with a total of eight ordinary mirror-like panels hanging down. At least, they would appear ordinary to anyone who wasn't the Overseer.

"Do you know about archangels, dear Elizabeth? No, don't bother answering, of course you don't. In particular, there is one known as the 'Angel of Mysteries', who is said to contain all the secrets of the world, and whose nature is such that he may very well be more of a powerful magus than an actual Divine Spirit... That nature of his is what is embodied within this artifact, the Holy Scripture Raviel, granted to me by the Church for the sake of monitoring this Holy Grail War. "

As though to demonstrate, she waved her hand and one of the eight panels disappeared from the chandelier, reappearing right above her head at will.

"In the Fourth War, the Overseer was abruptly assassinated by a gunshot from the then-Master of Saber. In the Fifth War, the Overseer disappeared after the church grounds got invaded by Caster. And in the Sixth War, held outside Fuyuki, the chosen Overseer was ambushed and killed before it had even begun. As you can imagine, this job has proven to be a tough one."

Caren casually shrugs in a manner, as if to say 'how troublesome'.

"Hence, the reason why I am currently in the possession of this Holy Scripture. Normally it would be extremely difficult, as well as impractical to operate, but...

"But conveniently, we have an unlimited power source right beneath us. The Holy Grail. By establishing a direct link to that power, it is fully operational to the point of being able to project a form of Bounded Field all throughout Fuyuki City-

"No, it's even more than that. You could say that, right now, we are all within the gigantic reality marble called 'Raviel'. As a result of that, I hold minor reign over all of time and space everywhere within its range. I can accelerate and deaccelerate, forward and rewind this reality at will. With its support, theoretically, I could even take on a Servant single-handedly. Of course, as with all great things, this is all too convenient to be true.

"So naturally, there is a cost. When I alter time and space so that it fits my own conveniences, where do you think all that energy comes from?...That's right. The Holy Grail. I'm draining the prize itself, and if it becomes empty, then that will defeat the point of victory."

All of a sudden, the reflection of the mirror-like panel floating above them changed to show what seemed to be the interior of a castle, focusing on one man in particular. Kotomine Kirei. The one ultimately responsible for Ashikaga's death, and for everything after.

"Due to this danger, I am not meant to utilize the altering function of Raviel unless it is explicitly required. Either for self-defense purposes, or for the purpose of maintaining the order of the war. By saving you, I probably drained a quarter of the energy that should've been used for Assassin... And now we've finally gotten to the part where I answer your first question.

---It's simple. Since I'm the Overseer and have a direct link to Raviel, much like a contract, I am free to do as I wish. Hence, I did it, hoping I could get some use out of you and Berserker. It may not have been out of sympathy, but believe me - I felt like it would be a waste to see you two die so pointlessly."

Caren puts her arms around her back in satisfaction.

"I simply followed a whim, and indeed, it turned out conveniently. Because of that, I not only obtain one of the best Servants, but also I get one Master under my absolute control Though, I'll be honest with you, I truly was hoping that you would summon Assassin since no one has done so yet. At this rate, Kotomine, your lover's killer, will more than likely do so instead. That could be troublesome for everyone since they're strong enough already, but there's nothing we can do about that. Alas, there's no other available magus..."

The last few lines were sighed out dramatically, more like she was complaining about an inconvenience rather than actually being worried about the dynamic of the Holy Grail War being messed up.

"In any case, about Berserker. 'Should I be considered a Master'? Well, yes and no. While I have Command Seals of my own and have established a contract with him, for me, a Servant is but a convenience to help me do my job as Overseer better, especially since I have no personal interest in the Holy Grail. And, might I remind you, it was of his own free will to join me, rather than you." A temporary pause, something only just occurring to her. "By the way, if you want to know where he is, he's on top of the church observing your Servant so she doesn't try to do anything suspicious. I wouldn't advise meeting him. You'd just be developing pointless sentimentality you'll have to throw away later."

Then, at the question 'What do you want from all this?', Caren smiled sadistically, taking a step forward towards Elizabeth.

"What do I want? Funny, last night, moments after you left in fact, I was asked exactly the same question by another, less welcome visitor. So I'll give you the same answer I did him - I don't think it really matters to give 'what I want' a tangible form. If I want something, I will try to do it so long as it is within my power. There's really no point thinking about it because, to begin with, human beings are horrible at labeling themselves."

Then she takes another nonchalant step forward, to the point that she's standing directly in font of Elizabeth herself, and she goes on to nonchalantly place a hand on her shoulder with a growing smile. "And as for the role you have to play... What the geas could do, and how useful your loyalty could prove to be... That remains to be seen. It all depends on what you choose to do, and whether I can see any use in it. If you're lucky, we may not even have to meet each other again after today."

With that, Caren takes a step back and turns around, proceeding to walk back towards the altar.

"Speaking of which, there is something I should have done last time. You told Caster, didn't you? Even if you're under my control, I'm not wholly eager to have this system undermined by her, so." Once she reaches it, she takes a deep breath and starts to speak with a much heavier voice than before.

"Elizabeth, from now on, you must not reveal any details regarding either Caren Hortensia or Berserker, which includes the contract forged between the two of us.

Also, you must not under any circumstances act in direct opposition against me. If there is anyone who plans on doing so, you must try your best to stop them, with or without your Servant.

And finally,"
she stops to think for a moment, somewhat unsure, before shrugging as she decides to go with something random. "Kill all dogs and cats on sight."

Each sentence drop down like a hammer, absolute commands being placed onto Elizabeth that she cannot resist no matter what she tries to do. Perhaps only now, the true consequences of having accepted that geas were sinking in to her - this situation was equivalent to Caren having an unlimited amount of Command Seals over her. A puppet to be used at her convenience.

Though, the last command was a bit uncalled for.

"Does that satisfy you, Elizabeth?" Caren asks cheerfully, clearly in a good mood now. "You are free to go. Go ahead and do as you wish. If you can do something about that Assassin situation, I would sincerely appreciate it. Go forth, and continue to fight in the Seventh Holy Grail War for your dreams."

That euphoric feeling that she got from hearing Caren's voice had compelled her to sit down as she then went over to do so. Once sitting down, she turned to look up at Caren. She was about to speak up she first began about Arch Angels, but as soon as she told her not to answer, it ws almost as if a blank was drawn in her mind, and slowly started to close her mouth. This forced feeling of pleasure, seemed to constantly compel her body to comply with these said orders and made her go silent as she listened to Caren. Looking down at her hands as she baled them tightly as she continued to speak....

"In the Fifth War, the Overseer disappeared after the church grounds got invaded by Caster."

Caster? Invading the church? As in Elizabeth's Caster? Medea?

"But conveniently, we have an unlimited power source right beneath us. The Holy Grail. By establishing a direct link to that power, it is fully operational to the point of being able to project a form of Bounded Field all throughout Fuyuki City-"

She then looked up at her. The grail? Here already? And she was taking power from the grail to perform these feats? Elizabeth looked up at Caren shocked at all the information that had been put onto her...And what was worse is that she couldn't really do anything with most of the information given to her, as she sat there and bit her bottom lip. All of this information being dumped on her in a way was almost painful. Including the fact that The Holy Grail, the all powerful wish granting device was being depleted by Caren for her own gain. A grail that people had died for before and will continue to die for unless she ended it...The grail that Ashikaga died for...

She then glanced up at one of the panels as they revealed the face of that man...Kotomine. She only glared at that man with looks of malice as the whole event flashed through her head again. Kirei....Kotomine..That damned bastard. She couldn't wait for the moment she could crush his skull beneath her foot...But then when Caren spoke again, her words impaled her heart with a pang of sorrow and disappointment.

"And, might I remind you, it was of his own free will to join me, rather than you."

Elizabeth knew this already...Berserker had betrayed Elizabeth..However she could very easily understand the mad dogs perspective...To him, she was a broken shell of a woman who had lost the only thing left in her life. Her will to live was next to 0. He always did seem annoyed about how little Elizabeth knew about the grail. And about how she always teased an poked fun at him..Perhaps he didn't think she was worthy as a master to participate in the grail...To prove him wrong and to avenge Ashikaga. She herself accepted Caren's offer to take the command seal, and submit herself to Caren's geas. Because Elizabeth felt hopeless, she felt as if she was no longer worthy to lead or be a master. But she was different now. And she would prove it to berseker...

Despite the fact that Berseker betrayed her. She alluded herself into believing they had some sort of bond before hand. Which was why she choose to forgive and understand him rather then resent him. However, what he was doing or where he was was certainly the last of her concerns at the moment. She had nothing to say to him.

"Speaking of which, there is something I should have done last time. You told Caster, didn't you? Even if you're under my control, I'm not wholly eager to have this system undermined by her, so."

Elizabeth thought about that for a moment. Medea? Undermined the system? How could she possibly...

"...be sure to ask her about Rule Breaker."

She her eyes widened in schok as she came to the realization, damn it! She didn't ask about rule breaker! Rule breaker. That alone easily sounded like something that could have helped her out. It could probably have even broken her geas. It still could in fact. Elizabeth then leaned back slightly before Caren had put her hand on her shoulder. Elizabeth was about to scoot away and get up, but when Caren put her hand on her shoulder, for some reason Elizabeth instantly stopped. And a spine tingling sensation shot up her spine, and rippled through out her entire body. And when Caren started, this pleasing sensation was enough to completely numb her body as Caren's words slammed down ontop of her, crushing her very own will in a single blow as she looked up at her, giving her a look of malice. As that was all she could do at this point..

And finally," she stops to think for a moment, somewhat unsure, before shrugging as she decides to go with something random. "Kill all dogs and cats on sight."

She raised an eyebrow at the last one, it was clear to her now more than ever that she was just a toy for her to play with. She had gotten all of the answers she had needed from Caren. And now wanted more than anything to leave as she shuttered, feeling uncomfortable as her head slowly forced a nod against her will. "I understand." In contrast to Caren's mood. Elizabeth's mood only seemed to be far worse then when she had came in. "So, what you said earlie about a overseer being captured by Caster or something along those lines. Does that mean Medea? And if it does, does that also mean that servants can be summoned into more than one war and still retain there memories?" She asked in a much deeper voice, reflecting her mood. She had calmed down, but she still gave Caren a rather stern look.

"I don't know, I wasn't there. But what I can tell you is this; each Holy Grail War normally has its own set of Servants, due to the massive amount of legends that could potentially be summoned. While it is possible, it is extremely unlikely, considering how many legends of magicians there are out there. Not merely her, but Merlin, Gwydion, Vainamoinen, Scathach, amongst others are equally likely to be summoned. Really, summoning an antihero like Medea is a bit of an...odd choice to begin with." Caren answered in full, though she didn't bother turning around to face Elizabeth again, preferring to stare at the back wall while she was talking.

"Besides, even if a Servant were to be summoned into another war, they would not under any circumstances retain their memories. After all, none of them are the real thing, but merely replicas drawn from the Throne of Heroes. If they are defeated in one war and resummoned in the next, then that would be a new copy."

It seemed that she was done at first, but only a few seconds later,

"Although, if you really wish to know whether or not it was Medea..."

Caren moves her hand, and the glass pane tilts so that the image of Kirei Kotomine is shown directly in front of Elizabeth.

"This is just a suggestion mind you, but perhaps you should go and ask the former Overseer of the Fifth War yourself?"

Why?

Why did Caren Hortensia come here and almost blatantly challenge them?

This is getting tricky.

Once the overseer finished her speech, she was guaranteed a place in Bazett's enemy list. But...

She's the overseer and an enemy. How to deal with a situation like this?

What a dilemma.

As Elizabeth and Caster has left, Archer's master turned to us.

"Erm, I don't think we've introduced each other. I'm Emiya Shirou... as you figured out, I'm Archer's Master", he says with a smile.

"Now that we're alone, I guess you have questions for me... but before that, would you want some tea?" He asks as he starts cleaning the table awaiting for my response.

...

Bazett remained silent for a couple of seconds, before sighing...

"...?" The boy looked at me questionably.

Of course he would react that way, but what did he expect?

A master is offering tea with a smile to another enemy master...

Yet another case she can't deal with, albeit confusion for completely different reasons.

"Archer's master, could you elaborate on what you said to the overseer?" She said while scanning his facial expression.

She'll detect a lie instantly, and depending on his answer she'll leave quietly or make it so there're less obstacles for her in this war.

Elizabeth thought about that for a moment..They were only replicas huh? Elizabeth found that extremely hard to believe. They functioned and acted just like the real thing, they had there own, thoughts emotions and will..But despite the fact of what she thought of Caren. She only seemed to speak the truth so she could easily take whatever she said seriously. But still..As servants Archer and Saber couldn't have possibly both won...And they both to seem to know a lot more than they should have from encounters in the war...But she supposed it didn't really matter that much. But she nodded, and let out a heavy sigh. "Well, thanks for the information, I appreciated it."

She decided she would believe in Medea. If no one else could, it should defiantly be her own master. And she would defiantly make sure that she served as a much better master to Medea now than before...As she started t leave she turned to listen to what Caren had finished telling her. With a quick look of disgust she shook her head. "No thanks. It's not that important to me. The only time I plan on seeing that man is when I finally end his disgusting life. But thanks for the suggestion." She added as she waved Caren off as she left. And sighed as she started to walk away from the church, and then turned to where caster was waiting.

"Sorry for the wait Medea...I definitely had my questions answered..Unfortunately they came at quite a cost I would say. But it is all fine and dandy now!" She said giving Caster a thumbs up with a friendly grin, however her smile now seemed a lot more forced. "Oh, is it okay if I call you Medea?" she then conjured some some small, Metallic ear plugs and then closed her eyes. Hoping that that way she would avoid having to murder any dogs or cats on the way back. "Yeah, this might look weird but...Lets just say it is for the better if we keep it like this until we get back to your temple alright?" She asked holding out her hand to Caster so that she could guide Elizabeth.

Master of Archer: Emiya Shirou

Emiya residence, around 9:15 AM

"Archer's Master, please elaborate what you've said to the Overseer", she said to him.

Shirou, hearing that, almost immediately looks away, looking... disturbed? Sad? In any case, whatever his expression was, it was a difficult one. In order to buy some time, Shirou went to prepare a tea.

'What should I tell her?', Shirou thinks as he prepares a tea for three. 'I can't tell her about the ideal that I dream about. However... what did the Oversee say, she's an Enforcer? Rin mentioned something about them... didn't she?'

"Sorry to break your rare moment of deep thinking, but I got a valuable information: Assassin isn't yet summoned, and that little girl is concerned about it", suddenly an alien though invades his mind. Of course, that was Archer contacting him telepathically.
"Got it, thanks. I guess you'd want to talk about our actions once I return, right?", Shirou responds to Archer, choosing to ignore his insult this time. Feeling confirmation from Archer, Shirou ends the conversation... and returns to the two woman with a three cups of tea.

"Here, sorry for the wait", Shirou says as he puts the plate on the clean dining table. Once he sits, takes a cup for himself and drinks a little, he takes a deep breath and finally responds to Bazett's question. 'The more allies I gather, the better. If I can end this war as fast as possible, I'll be able to prevent additional deaths', Shirou thinks as he prepares for the lengthy talk with Bazett.

"To start with... this is the first time participating in the Grail War, right?", Shirou asks, looking away, and immediately continues without waiting for response: "It isn't for me. I participated in the 5th Holy Grail War... and have seen what horrors it brings. I'd like to say that I saw the Grail itself... but sadly, I was too busy with one particular servant, so I didn't manage to get a good look at it."

Shirou then looks Bazett directly in the eyes and continues: "Have you been to Fuyuki Central Park? It's the place where catastrophe of the 4th Holy Grail War happened. You probably heard about a great fire that happened more than 10 years ago. Do you want me to tell you a story?"

If HF ended up being a single movie, what would it need to do so it can get a high score from all of you?

Not air.

Archer's master looked Bazett directly in the eyes and continued: "Have you been to Fuyuki Central Park? It's the place where catastrophe of the 4th Holy Grail War happened. You probably heard about a great fire that happened more than 10 years ago. Do you want me to tell you a story?"

Bazett couldn't help but feel a chill. He definitely wasn't lying.

She listened to his story to the end.

...

When Bazett left the Emiya residence, she only had one goal.

End this Grail war as fast as possible.

This "facade" of a war can't be let to continue.

Archer's master told her that Assassin wasn't summoned yet. It's her chance to take out the rest, while she still can.

No use pulling any punches now. Time for the final stage to start.

...

Location: Fuyuki Hotel

... She pushed the room's furniture away.

Exactly 10 days have passed. Now her plan can finally be put in motion.

Bazett made sure that Rider's "Blood Fort Andromeda" was set as soon as she was summoned, and it's finally the time to harvest the ripe fruit.

... She drew the magic circle on the floor.

With the Blood Fort now Rider can supply herself with more than enough mana, leaving a huge chunk for Bazett to use freely.

... She stood upon the circle, extended her hand, and began to chant.

"Let silver and steel be the essence. For the foundation, gems and the archduke of contracts."

"Let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall."

Rider stood there watching closely.

"Let the four cardinal gates close."

"Let the three-forked road from the crown reaching unto the Kingdom rotate."

She channeled her mana through the circle...

"Heed my words."

"My will creates your body, and your sword creates my destiny."

"If you heed the Grail's call and obey my will and reason..."

"Then answer me!"

She doesn't need a catalyst. The grail will summon the servant with the most compatibility with her...

"I hereby swear, That i shall be all the good in the world."

"That i shall defeat all evil in the world."

"Thous Seventh Heaven, clad in the three words of power, come forth from the circle of binding, Guardian of scales!"

With her final word the circle shone with almost blinding light.

And when the light subsided, there he stood.

Her newly summoned servant.

Assassin.

"-and then I was saved by Emiya Kiritsugu. I won't let anyone win this Grail War, because there is no Grail to win. If you want to help me protect this city - no, this world, we have to stop Gilgamesh and Kirei."

Emiya Shirou had said his piece, and Bazett had chosen her side in this fake war. Now that he had a new ally (and potentially Assassin if Bazett did manage to summon him/her), he could take on the King of Heroes with more than just empty bravado.

He had to get things done fast. Gilgamesh, his Master and Kirei were still at large (though he knew of an easy way of luring the former out), Caren was definitely planning something and Caster...the least said about her the better.

Archer, let's get ready. I'll go make some final preparations at Rin's. After that...

He slipped a hand into his pocket, where he kept the slip of paper Bazett had given him. It was the room number of the hotel room she was staying in. He would have to visit her to make sure that the summoning went smoothly, but for now he had other priorities.

Shirou strode out of his house and sprinted towards Rin's. Trace on, he thought as he poured a trickle of prana into his legs, his bones creaking with the pressure put into them but his speed nearly doubling.

Archer, find Saber. Remember Okabe-san saying something about a laboratory during the meal? I remember seeing some sign about some research lab or something. I'll give you the details now. If you see her, call me immediately. I'll be done with my preparations as fast as I can.

*Time to Tohsaka's: 5 minutes*
*Time to finishing preparations (2x Filled Azoth Dagger from Rin + Rehearse the move Crane Wing Three Realm in Shirou's mind): 10 minutes*
*Total time before moving out: 15 minutes*

Servant: Caster
Location: Fuyuki church

"Oh, is it okay if I call you Medea?"

Elizabeth asked Caster, with a forced smile. Whatever happened in that church, Caster wondered. Also, being called by her real name was something Caster was definitely not accustomed to.

"If... that's what you want. But it might be better not to near other participants. There may still be some who don't know who I am and I'd prefer to contain that disadvantage."

Her master then plugs and ears and closes her eyes. After wondering what this is all about, Caster decides to pick up Elizabeth and disappear with her toward the temple. On the way there, she inquires Elizabeth telepathically.

"With this out of the way... Did you ever consider removing your geas?"

*Time to temple: 5 min*
