It will never get a 2nd season
get that through your thick skulls
They rushed the f..k out of the anime and the manga has ended. For what reason would they continue?

Do not want.

Anyway, aren't sequels for manga adaptations mostly dependant on how big the boost in volume sales of the source material is, rather than the DVD/BD sales?

No! Manga Sales is only good to the manga publisher. The animation Studio and the others partners in the animation Committee don't receive nothing, or almost nothing, from it.
It may happen that the publisher received such a boost, that he believes that another season is needed and so he gives a huge budget(something that normally the publisher don't even gives at all) for another season, so guaranteeing profit for the 3rd parties.
It may happen but that must be mega rare.

Look at anime adaption of a manga as an Hollywood adaption of a book. For example Lord of the Rings and harry Potter. Those movies are really, really expensive to make, both in terms of money, time and workforce. The Studio/s making the adaptation are totally unrelated with the book publisher. So in no way those movies are made to increase the books sales. Yep, they probably will increase the book sales, and the publisher expects that and is happy with that, but certainly that isn't the reason the realization of the adaptation was decided.
Is the exact same thing to a T with anime adaptations.
Oh, thanks for the clarification.

this guy has no idea what he's talking about whatsoever.

Also, Ghouls sales are down to 3.7k estimated now.

I doubt it will sell 5k, and even if it does thats only the first volume.

This show is going to have really mediocre sales by the time its all said and done.

Neither is it that good, it's the kind of sales numbers that series like Hidan no Aria get and the producers said it didn't sell enough to get a second season. But Tokyo Ghoul will certainly sell more than that so again no reason to think BD/DVD sales wouldn't be enough.

no it is good.

5k is good sales

10k is great sales

20k is amazing sales.

Not every producer is expecting to make the same money and not every show costs the same to animate.

You dont know what you are talking about.

We aren't talking about being good enough to make money, we are talking about being good enough to get a second season. Series which sell 5k has barely better chances of getting a second season than something that sell 3k.
