Honestly I love the part where she walks up to the big tower thing for the duel, I like the music. I love the two shadows that show up in the middle of each episode too.

Also I don't get the hate towards Anthy over this episode, I'd be rooting for Utena too honestly. I hate how quickly Miki switched up, one scene he wants Anthy to be free to make her own choices and the next he wants her for himself? Like I get Touga fucked his sister and all, but imo he was clearly thinking about himself.

If anything I'm more concerned for Anthy, like it obviously isn't normal for somebody to just be that ok with not having any freedom and being married off to somebody, and I just wanna know what's made her act like that really

I liked the character of Miki in this episode but had no idea his sister was so close to him.

I respect Miki's desire to find the perfect feeling in his piano song and how Himemiya helped him find it. Miki seems to be a good person; although he wants Himemiya for the sake of his Sunlit Garden song, I think he would allow Himemiya to have plenty of freedom, just like how Utena is taking care of her. He wants to disassemble the council and prevent Himemiya's freedom from being restricted. Miki's backstory was interesting, along with the duel at the end.

It was refreshing to learn why Mickey wanted to fight Utena (even though it was obvious last ep) , compared to why Kyouichi wants the rose bride + revolutionize the world all to himself... Mickey just wants Anthy to never stop playing :(

also nice we got to see the sisters pov/ story about her and mickey/s piano playing ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ♡

I am becoming increasingly frustrated in Anthy's seeming lack of investment in her own life and future. The fact that she just passively accepts that she is be arbitrarily linked to any random that wins a duel regardless of her own will doesn't compute. Hopefully she'll get a little more backbone as the series goes on.

Also I really thought this episode would end with Mickey realizing his quest to "free" Anthy was just a selfish desire to possess her like everyone else. But no the episode just ends with him just more ready to duel again. jesus is there a singular non-scummy guy on this show.

I wish they had worked that twist about Miki's sister into the story in a better way. It was legitimately great and could have made these two episodes so much better if it had been done differently.

Also that thing with Miki's sister talking to him right after sex was crazy. I can't even say it's a difference of cultures, because as far as I know, those repressed Japanese people would never be open enough to tell their family members they are having sex so casually. No african woman in my culture would ever try what that girl did or the brother would try to kill the womanizer guy.

These two episodes do pose an interesting question tho. Are lesbians and bi women as possessive and short sighted as straight men? Cuz there is no way I'm buying Miki is even a guy to begin with. Mostly because this anime plays too much when it comes to what any individuals gender or sexuality actually even is.

Hopefully they are able to implement story beats better moving forward.
