| Technically, I'm a Christian. I believe that God's somewhere, or SOMETHING is out there. Humans are just to beastly to be the top creature, despite the brains we've been given. I also believe in karma in being God's general scale of outcomes. We make our own decisions, and when they get bad God's not gonna kiss the boo-boos and 'make it all better'. Everyone is going to pay for their mistakes, and if we get hit in the crossfire of someone's else's bad mistakes, well.... that's just our bad luck and maybe it'll teach us to not make bad mistakes. [My, mini rant of annoyance. XD] Erm... I'm pretty open to most religions and rituals and ceremonies. They're usually a sort of comfort or lifestyle, and have some stock behind them most of the time. Heck, if I find the right things I'll maybe even partake in them. I mean in the end, after death, if I just end up being totally right in my religion, then someone else is going to be wrong and is going to Hell. I don't find that right, when so many believe so faithfully in other religions. And if that's an indiction, I'm not a specific division. Not Baptist, Methodist, Nazarene (although that's the current style church my family goes to). I'm just plain Christian. : 3 I try and take comfort in the fact that I'm not all alone all the time, and that God is there, even if he isn't always listening. I struggle with my faith all the time. Even if he's not there, I try and basically follow the 10 Commandments. To be a good person, yada yada, and try to make going through this life a little bit easier. |

Since it's so common people are sort of fuzzy on it I will be sort of a smartass and give a simplified account (I beg my pardon in advance for eventual pompuousness). Yeah, nothing can be "proven", There are proofs, but no prof can ever be conclusive. As such we abandoned the verificationism of logical positivism for the benefit of falsificationism - basically, we state hypotheses, which are then tested. Tested in the sense that we collect relevant facts (observations), and see if they are possible or not within the hypothesis. If they are impossible, the hypothesis is falsified. If they are possible in the hypothesis and large enough in number, the hypothesis becomes a theory. Theories, in other words, are propositions about the relations/natur/whatever of things in the world considered interimly true. However, the keyword is interimly - the philosophical distrust for induction is as strong as ever, and the theory is just waiting for new facts to turn up and falsify it. They are to be eternally tested. They are, indeed, never proven, or even "true". Mmm Popper. Oh, I should debate about god? Who cares, epistemology is more important even if gods exists. |
