That book seems to traumatize all the American students. Therefore I have to read it. When I finish the Divine Comedy, of course, wandering through Purgatory right now (I don't understand the objective of the Purgatory if you already have the Hell for people that commited exactly the same crimes. What makes you go to Purgatory and not to Hell? I'm sure Dante explained it, but it was in such a way I could not understand)

Basically, the way I understood the concept of Purgatory is that it is the waiting room (which obviously Dante had never experienced or he would have included it as a punishment) for both Heaven and Hell and the souls that have been assigned there are the ones that Judgment has not been decided upon. Such as the souls of people who have done great and wonderful deeds that have also committed terrible sins and their souls are in a state of balance between the Spheres. Or at least that's the way I read it.

Everybody here is reading such heady material, I'm almost ashamed that I'm re-reading Ian Douglas' Heritage trilogy starting with "Semper Mars". But not very.

Oh. I saw it "the people that gave more money to Vatican were allowed to go to Purgatory and purge their sins or wait till someone prayed for them" xD

Has anyone read anything by Bill Bryson? One of my friends recommended a book of his, and I've been meaning to get around to reading it. I've heard his books are pretty funny.

Yeah, he's quite readable. His A Short History of Nearly Anything is my favourite pop-science book.

That makes sense as well, considering that Dante was writing it as a satire of religion and the Church of the day. I hadn't quite thought of that until you typed that. Comes of growing up as a preacher's kid, I guess.

Twilight. Someone finally dragged me to the movies and I was highly curious to read the book.

It is poorly written, fractured, unclear....

....and utterly addicting >< I can see why the fangirls where squealing. Please save me from insanity.

Since the first one was quite enjoying, I followed with the second in the series :
And I finally got my hands on this one :

The prequel ( Path of destruction ) was like my favourite Star Wars book ( or at least top 3 ) so I have great expectations of this one. Hope Karpyshyn gets the chance to write a third Darth Bane novel ^_^

Get to hate Bella. That's the sollution. The other 3 books of the trilogy (hah) are even worst and you don't really need to read them to find Edward enjoyable.

I spent the weekend finishing all 4.5 books (I read the edward half book too) and I want that part of my life back ^^.

One of those things I just had to finish. Her writing style got better, but the plot went to hell. I do have to say I really enjoyed the edward book. I find that view far more interesting.

My friends still do not have the half book (I think they want the translated version?) so I could not borrow it yet. I don't know what kind of news that point of view may give (maybe another *headdesk* for the litterary and musical ignorance of the author?) but got to finish the trilogy.
