What the fuck was that! It just blew me away. Not every anime can make a good first impression such as this one. I can clearly tell this anime would be one of my favorites

Playing it mysterious, this series starts pretty well with its gloomy setting (under blurry filter) and slick/sharper Araki-like design.
More importantly, it's great to have Furuya playing the main character despite already being past his prime at that time.

Also, where's that 70s-ness or "old school" style everyone is talking about? This is so clearly a 2000s series.

The animation is amazing as expected from madhouse I think this episode is ok maybe it will get better.

That was really slow. Not in the Texhnolyze style where it's engaging either. The animation looks nice though

I learned about its existence after watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and knowing that Umakoshi was behind it, looking at his career, I developed a deep interest in watching this version of Tatsunoko's iconic character.

But my surprise was great when I noticed that both the tone of the show was different and the fact that this was produced 4 years before Madoka. If they had been released in the same year, together, there would be no noticeable loss of quality over time, and indeed, there isn't.

This is a great achievement in the aspects that comprise its production because, like few others, no episode diminished that thick line that distinguishes its director, aside from the respect given to the original designs of the 1970s series from which it comes.

This first episode where the introductions were made and certain nods with some more or less resolved mysteries that the series presents (and I say 'more or less resolved' because there are more than one unresolved, which require quite a bit of imagination to make sense of, or a guiding thread, and that's fine, that's how it was decided to narrate it and I never had a problem with that).

As I said, it introduces the main characters, the protagonist's dilemma, and his reactions to the world around him which, no matter how devastated it is, is now his world.

Very good first episode, interesting world, interesting mc, cool robots. Very nice animation and atmosphere. The style of everything is geat. The only thing i was kinda confused about was what was going on, we where just thrown right into everything either way i enjoyed it i cant for more.
