| Depends on the anime and what I saw first. Some anime do have good dubs and I sometimes prefer the voices over the original ones. I also watch dubs on TV just because that's what they show. >> Sub is for anime that has not been dubbed yet (duh) and for ones that are not on TV. Though I do notice that subs are more enjoyable in many ways, such as having Japanese in-jokes or puns that are lost in the dubbing process or references that would make the anime confusing in other countries (FLCL for instance). |
| i watch both some dub are good and some subs are for ex... the dubs for naruto is just insanely annoying and gay, subs are better, but the dubs for kimi ga nozomu eien and kanon is actually pretty damn good... depends.. but i favor the dubs, its easier to understand... i still remeber some japanese for when i lived in tokyo when i was 6-8 but only like 30-40 or occasionaly 50% of the raws dubs are good... doesnt matter if its chinese, taiwannese, or eng i can understand these 3 languages 100% |

| This is a hard subject for me. It depend on which one I'm used too. I watched Inuyasha on [adult swim] long before I ever got a DVD and grew used to the English voices to the point where I just couldn't stand the Japanese dub. Theres also series like Samurai Champloo where I had seen the fansubs before hearing the English dub, but I would watch that series in English over Japanese any day because the Eng. dub is just so amazingly good. Overall with me, it depends on what I'm used too and what sounds better to me, but if it's something I've never seen before, I always go with subs. |

| Subs. They show what the characters are actually saying and doing as opposed to covering it up for younger kids who watch the anime. (More blood, swears, etc...) Also, it's easier and fun for me. I've learned a couple Japanese words from anime. Someday, I want to watch a RAW episode and not wonder what the hell they're saying. xD |

| Dubbing and Subbing to me, acts as a double edged sword. Sometimes there are words that subs can't translate directly so a equivalent is used instead. (Then again most of it is not exact /direct). Dub, you can get horrible voices or good voices. The sound of the voice wont be close to the original voice cast. (Some can I guess). Things I really hate about certain dubbed series is edits to the animation. For example Eyeshield 21, it was like 3 episodes in 1. Ok, thats the worst I ever came across but there are good ones out there which are un-edited. |

| It always depends on how good a job the voice actors have done and, frequently, whatever I've seen first. In general, I prefer subbed because the voice work tends to be much better as a whole, while some anime have absolutely epic dubs. |

| Oh I've seen some pretty inaccurate subs... If you want accuracy, you need to go raw, but accuracy in my meaning isn't necessarily script accuracy so much as it is closeness to the meaning of the dialogue. I watched Trinity Blood as a dub, and it ruined it for me. Retarded casting should be taken into account, too. I've done a bit of voice acting before, so I know how possible quality voices could be in theory, but they tend to rely on the same handful of celebrities, even when they're entirely wrong for the job. |

| If American voice actors didn't fail so hard at trying to grasp an anime character's character in voice so much, I wouldn't mind dubs, but so far FMA is the only dubs I've enjoyed. So, subs all the way. |

| I generally prefer subs to dubs. However, rarely there is an exceptional dub that bests even the original Japanese dub. Cowboy Bebop comes to mind as an example of an exceptional dub. That being said, I am bit surprised by the overwhelming majority of users who prefer subs to dubs. Honestly, there are only a few dubs that I will absolutely avoid watching. Most dubs do not suffer from poor quality. The few that do usually unfairly mar the reputation of dubs in general. I am generally open to both. I usually watch a series that I really enjoyed in both the subbed and dubbed format. However, I always watch a series subbed first if possible. In the end, it really comes down to personal preference. |
| I prefer subs, and the occasionally nice dubs. I don't like many dubs, very few actually. The voices, sound so forced and fake compared to the japanese audio. I really liked AIR TV's dub, and Full Metal Alchemist's, Inu-Yashas, and I had always watched Sailor Moon in english. That's about it, :D subs are ftw. |

| You know, honestly, I suppose a lot of it has to do whether I saw the sub or the dub first. If I've seen the sub first, chances are I'll look at dubs with mixed curiousity/hostility. If I've seen the dub first, then I'm mostly content with them. Funny enough, I still find myself wanting to read subtitles just so I can make sure not to miss anything important. :3 |

| Sub is much better usually in my opinion. I love the sound of foreign languages, and it is also the voice that the creator probably intended a character to sound like. |

As in, it deals with a lot of customs, places, etc. that anyone outside of Japan doesn't know shit about. Putting English voices on the characters in this type of show just doesn't work, imo. Even if the voice cast does a good job. ........which they didn't. |
