The 12th and final episode of Unnamed Memory television anime announced a second season at the end of its airing on Tuesday. The official website revealed a teaser visual (pictured) and a commercial promo. The new season—titled Unnamed Memory Act.2—is set to begin airing in January 2025.

Produced by ENGI, the television anime began airing on April 9. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles worldwide, excluding Asia.

Unnamed Memory adapts Kuji Furumiya's fantasy romance light novel, which he launched on his personal website in 2008 before posting on the Shousetsuka ni Narou in September 2012. Kadokawa published the series in six volumes under its Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint with illustrations by chibi from September 2019 to April 2021.

Naoki Etsuma began serializing a manga adaptation on the Monthly Dengeki Daioh magazine in September 2020. Kadokawa published the sixth volume on February 26.

Yen Press licensed the light novel and manga in English and released the sixth and final volume of the light novel on October 18. The fifth manga volume was released on June 18.

Synopsis
As a young boy, Prince Oscar Lyeth Increatos Loz Farsas was cursed by the Witch of Silence, rendering it all but impossible for any woman to bear him a child. After 15 years of fruitlessly seeking a way to lift the spell, Oscar resorts to enlisting the help of a different witch. To this end, he heads to the Azure Tower, home of the Witch of the Azure Moon. Ascending the tower is no easy task; for decades, no one has overcome the array of traps, puzzles, and enemies designed to repulse any challengers. Oscar, however, easily climbs to the top, where he meets the fabled witch, Tinasha. To the prince's surprise, despite being hundreds of years old, Tinasha looks like a beautiful young woman in her late teens.

Oscar explains his circumstances to the witch, who quickly perceives the true nature of his affliction. Though she claims that undoing the spell would be tremendously difficult, Tinasha proposes a workaround—to find Oscar a partner capable of withstanding the curse's effects.

Realizing that such a woman is right in front of his eyes, Oscar boldly tells the witch to marry him. Though he is promptly rejected, the young prince refuses to back down, and the two eventually reach an agreement: Tinasha will leave the tower and live with Oscar for the next year. As the two continue searching for a way to lift Oscar's curse, word of Tinasha's emergence from isolation spreads, catching the attention of all sorts of old acquaintances. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Highly encourage those who haven't watched season 1 to wait for season 2 and then binge it as it ends on a insane cliffhanger.

I'm surprised because the anime felt rushed. I did not expect it to get 2nd season

I still enjoyed the anime anyway. I will watch the 2nd season

@MegamiRem But doesn't a cliffhanger add to the suspense?

@RobertBobert It's the shit kind of cliffhanger but if that's what gets you then sure. I personally prefer a conclusive ending or ending on a good note if a new season is being made.

@MegamiRem I wasn't particularly impressed with the synopsis, but various people told me it was a good show.

Okay, I was not expecting that! But I've been fairly enjoying it so far (up to episode 8, currently) so I'm happy :)

@MegamiRem

If I recall correctly from the light novels, it does have a conclusive ending at the end of volume 6. I have not watched the anime, based on your comment, I will assume the anime ends at volume 3.

But the author has written a sequel to the light novel series, After The End.

Well, the author even wrote a prequel, Babel, which I have not read.

@NewestPersonHere wait, there's a sequel? No wonder the novel felt so unfinished with numerous loose ends, I guess. Do you know how many volumes are planned?

Don’t know, still ongoing.

4 volumes are out in Japan.
