2 years later: what's so bad about this show?

It's just a plain show with plain characters and plain plot. Nothing definitively bad that would give it such a low score.

It's not bad. Just people being unreasonably harsh on horror anime. Plus, people don't understand that it's a comedy.

I feel like it sparks some constructive introspection. Like, "what are my scars, how have I been dealing with them, etc"

IMO, it's more dumb than bad. I wondered what they expected to find at the lost village, because 95% of them were useless in a survival situation. Also, I went in expecting it to turn into an Another or Battle Royale gorefest, but that didn't happen. Most of it was whiny, disorganized, stupid people arguing and running around in the dark.

Ending was okay, though.

I just find it interesting.
It could be better, but is not a bad anime. I really like the idea of instrospection and inner monster.

It's just hate bandwagon. To each to their own, but sometime extremities such as this instance is just bonkers. It happens from time to time that people who are easily swayed does what the majority do to stay safe in their sensitivity circle.

so what are the issues:
- most are teenagers, if not kids who never experimented with anything harsh in life other than parents being "the worse" with them. So everything, including the level of bullying and abuse the kids in the show suffered, the majority were not able to empathize with the characters on a psychological level. Aka they are limited to clear outside horror and terror and don't understand crushing responsibilities, toxic guild, toxic attachments, the terror of facing oneself, the feeling of powerless and loneliness. I stop here as those who understand already get it and well...everyone else won't since this is stuff you experiment on an existential level and not with logic or words

- the plot twist of everyone being alive is a huge turn-off (because if one turns out to be alive, you know all will). Sorry, I was angry that the rapist was actually alive...

- there are too many goddess-damn kids who just want viral stuff. action action action, mass murder, and other stuff for them to escape from reality via destruction and violence. So seeing people facing "their demon" and "facing the reality they want to escape from", in a peaceful way, pissed off tons of these kinds of people

- they didn't like the animation of monsters (serious...it was hilarious...if it stayed unseen, it would have stayed scary. once you give it a form it's not scary, just a really dangerous monster)

- plot? too many characters for just 12 episodes. main boys had extreme character development that it was already too unnatural and boring. Aka feeling rushed, plot holes, or just never covered.

-And lastly, too many Goddess damn "anime fans" who only watch anime that they feel is a "life-changing" show or else they give bad reviews and score like an upset spoiled brat. Aka they can't watch and enjoy anything that doesn't give them this "life-changing" experience.

this is my personal conclusion why so many people gave such a bad score to this anime. aka this anime is not for kids (who don't even understand why I wrote this anime is for adults when it's not even porn:)) )

My guess would be that the anime attracted the wrong demographic, namely viewers who wanted a serious horror series... when instead Mayoiga seemed to a satire of horror anime in general.

To answer this question "what's so wrong about this show'... the answer is EVERYTHING. Characters, story, development, world building, logic, mystery. Everything is either bad or entirely missing. Every single shot of every single episode will be a group of people standing around with some of the characters screaming and others trying to calm them down and absolutely no one, and I mean literally no one thinking about the most rational solution. Well, not only lack of rational solution, but lack of thinking. EVERY SINGLE SHOT someone will scream.
