Nostalgia is fine. I'm not as old as you (if your profile info is correct) - but I know some of the games like Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat from SNES.

Wouldn't have been enough though. Episode 1 was boring for me. But I have to admit the romance part is super great in this show as well - starting from episode 2. In combination with the retro/nostalgia feeling this is one of the greatest anime of this season.

And possible for romance comedy one of the best anime the last years. (I usually don't like pure romance + school/club/games or whatever shows that much. For example I dropped Toradora. :D)

It does bring back the old memories of when i used to go to the arcades in the years of 93-96... also how i used to get slightly electrocuted by the bad wiring/grounding on some of the machines.

Not really, in my case it's much more simple, I like anime and videogames, so what better than a anime about videogames.

Hmm yes and no. I was born in 87 so i grew up in the arcades of the 90's but not exactly how Yaguchi and Oono had it. Looks like Japan had a way stronger case of arcade fever than the states. It's still going strong over there even today but it's not all about fighting games anymore.
I watch this show and read the manga not only becuz of my love for the competition in fighting games but also becuz of their relationship. Yaguchi and Oono are cute and interesting and I cant find myself disliking Hidaka either so things are getting very steamy~

Not really my type of nostalgia. They address only a small portion of arcade games, which mostly revolve around SF, and when he rambles about them and the other systems it feels just like a commercial, especially around halfway in the episodes in this sort of commercial break part. So yeah, the nostlagia kinda gets lost in product placement...
