I watched all 13 episodes, and I'm still confused, so, the future people are writing about the past, so is Kakeru saved or not, because the future (last 1-2 minutes) Naho and Suwa stare off into the city with their child and stuff, but before hand, Kekeru is alive, if that make sense (which it probably doesn't) so my question is, at the end, who's alive?

Mmkay, it goes like this:

Guys in the future didn't save Kakeru, that's the world where Suwa and Naho have kid. After 10 years they send letters to the past. That's when the first episode happens, with Naho (and everyone else) getting their letters. They manage to save Kakeru this time, creating parallel timeline, where he is alive.

Which means that both worlds exist at the same time, in one Suwa and Naho are together, and in the other one Kakeru never commits suicide :>

So..... it's a happy end for everyone, Kakeru lives with Naho as his "girlfriend" and they all are friends,

While in the real world, Kakeru dies and the group is kind of... separated, if you put it that way,
correct?

Well, they saved Kakeru, and created an alternate timeline were he was alive, I guess? Anyway, to do that, it seemed that a parallel universe would have to be created, but a whole universe? That's a tall order. The idea behind Orange, though, wasn't the science, but the idea that the bonds of friendship between the 6 characters was so strong that they would have done anything to save one, including finding a way to change the past.
It would have been ironic though, if they had only changed one past, and Kakeru shows up married to....Ueda!( What a bitch she was!)
