So yeah. @kasumisama: M-U and Kanji Converter read 博和 as Hirokazu so I went with that. If you know for sure that it's wrong just mention it on this thread. |

I like those ^_^ Maybe even the final volume (12) of the original Sun Comics release (second print from 1980 rather than the 1975 one) or one of the covers of the Sun Wide editions from 1984. (Randomly noting that if the original release was 12 volumes long, the current 9 volume count must be from a later release and probably needs modifying?) Erm. I'll look through the rest of this thread now. Sorry :p |

Sorry :p Okay, if you find that cover boring than there's little helping the matter but for the love of god PLEASE don't use one of those bilingual covers!! Here's why: there were only 3 volumes and they are littered with deliberate English grammar mistakes and spelling errors! Why you may ask? Because they were made as an English learning tool for Japanese students of English!! They serve no purpose in the whole scheme of things and even the publishers themselves acknowledge they have nothing to do with the original series! If you have to go with any of the others you kindly posted, please use one of the Sun comics edition covers. I'm begging you!! Oh and the 12 volume count is because the original story has been condensed into thicker volumes of which there are now 9. The chapter count is the same! There are currently only 2 versions available and that's the Chuko comics version (the one with the "boring" cover as you say) and the shonan original version release which has been crammed into 5 volumes. Looks like we have to put up with an inaccurate cover of an Engrish learners comic as the main pic for an important manga series all because a mod prefers the artwork. and here I was thinking that MAL was dedicated to having an ACCURATE database... shame. |
| Oh for crying out loud, it's been barely two days since you asked and I've been working long hours. I tried looking for a better version of that picture (and a larger version of the Sun Wide versions for that matter) yesterday evening but when I didn't have any luck I put it aside and worked on some other stuff instead. For what its worth though, no I'm not going to main that picture unless you can find one of decent size which isn't half obscured by an obi strip. Having a main image that's lacking half its image would be silly. While I'm here, just to throw in a side note: The idea that kodansha bilinguals have purposeful errors is idiocy. I haven't read the Kitaro ones but I've read plenty of others. I also have some of the translated Kindaichi light novels they put out. Yes, they're intended for people learning english rather than for actual english people, and as a result some of the releases (but not all) have some odd sounding phrases or the occasional incorrect word choice, but they're perfectly serviceable translations -- which is to be expected really. After all, what would be the point in intentionally teaching people to read english wrong? The fact you don't like them doesn't stop them being an official release either, sorry about that. Them being official covers and all, technically the entry is still accurate with a bilingual edition cover on display. If you loathe the bilingual editions with their large decent quality cover images, easily readable titles, and vibrant colours that much though I guess I can switch to one of the others for now. |

Koharu no Hibi, SetoYome, Rika-chan, Nuiguru Mix done. Avarice already sorted Tsun. iday12 - done :) Meri - Assuming SoT isn't counted as one of the chapters, yes it should. My version has no noticeable chapter breaks but going by BU SoT was released separately (with the others numbered 1 through 6), so changed :) |

Gwilthyunman sawmill: Bessatsu Ace Five Comics - Looks like an imprint as there seems to be also yaoi titles under it (http://www.pucciland.com/blmanga/m.html) Sweet Hearts - MU also lists more then one chapter. I am going to just leave it as an ongoing manga. FairlyLife - Just looks like it hasn't been published in a tank yet Sailor Fuku to Juusensha - If it is "Publishing" we do not include volume or chapter numbers. (guess I forgot to add the genres for this one when I added it... guess I shouldn't go as fast when I add like 20 entries in a row, lol) Thanks as always :D I noticed the same thing as sawmill, and the picture is correct for Nana no Iro but the one for Somuniiru should be removed/changed and... sorry!... other than us two you would have like no work, lol |
