| Lol actually I hated the 2nd opening a lot the first time I heard it, I mean obscentiy/fobish english,e tc I m like wahtt the hell but then the song grew on me cause the animation that went with the song went with it. But the 1st one is more fitting for the show and just better. |

| I say both. I think they're both really reflective of, perhaps, Light's Kira crusade-started off as dark, idealistic, and passionate (first OP) but gradually grew into something more sinister (second OP-notice how the tension just release once Near appears? Maybe signifying Light's desparation when faced with his defeat?). Maybe I'm just overanalyzing, but oh well-it's just my opinion for liking the two. Though the visuals in both are all very top-notch. From the moment I saw the OP of the first episode, it made a very good impression on me, and I especially liked all the allusions to Michelangelo (Ryuk and Light portrayed as God and Adam figures in the Sistine Chapel, respectively, and Naomi Misora holding Raye Penbar a la Pieta). And the second OP is pure crack. It's amusing in a trainwreck syndrome kind of way. |
