Do you store your anime on an external hard drive?

I don't, but I have been thinking about buying one recently just for the sole purpose of keeping all my anime downloads there. My laptop's storage space is in the red zone and it's next to depressing [exaggeration] so I desperately need one.

Do any of you keep your anime on an external hard drive? Can you give me any suggestions for cheap, but reliable ones? Like $60-$100?

None of the above.

I burn everything in dvds.

While waiting for watching (but burned already) I put them in a numerical to-watch line at my external HD. The rest stays int he internal one, because there is not enough space for everything.

1TB External hard drive with anime that I've completed.
500GB External hard drive with anime that's on my plan-to-watch list.

Airing, and anime that I'm currently watching, are on an internal drive.

Well if you have a laptop you might as well buy one, they're really cheap now, like 1 tb for $100.
I don't keep my anime, i maybe rewatched three or four series back when i used to keep 'em, nowadays i just delete after i finish the series.

Yep, this would be my preferred method as well. I've heard too many sad stories of hard drives failing. As long as your store them carefully, it's pretty hard to mess up a dvd.

As mentioned though, don't forget to buy a few series as well! It's nice once you gather a few to be able to look upon your ever growing collection. These days anime box sets are coming at very reasonable prices.

If those answers don't satisfy you, you might wanna check this out. Should contain what you're looking for.

Some of it. I buy a lot of DVDs, but I do keep some digital formats on external and internal.

No. I occasionally buy anime on impulse, other times download it then pick up the ones I like most on dvd as money allows.

You see, I do this too, but the thing is I can only burn .avi files to dvd and I tried converting .mkv and .mp4 files to .avi but they end up without any subtitles. I think I need the subtitles file along with the video file when I convert to have a successful subtitled episode. Idk though. My computer knowledge only goes so far.

Thank you very much! And don't worry! I have many anime dvds in my collection. (which sometimes I do take the time and just stare at lol) I am very pro-anime industry so I think buying them is the best way to support that. It's just that not all anime is going to be available locally and I would like to at least keep the ones I enjoy that I can't get in the states.

I have two, but that's to keep my dying laptop from giving in completely until I can get a new computer.

Otherwise I stream anime, download then delete after watching, and only save the animes I really really like or were super hard to find.

I would buy anime too, but can't afford it at the moment.

By the way, just to clarify, when I said I prefer burning to dvd, I meant data dvds, not video dvds. You can pack a ton more media on that way instead of being limited to just a few hours.

I have a server I keep anything under 720p on because I can just stream that over my wireless network if I need to. Anything else I keep on my External (mainly Blu-Rays).

I keep anything I'm getting ready to watch on my laptop's 2nd internal drive, though.

I have a lot on externals, but i just built a desktop so my newest addition is an internal drive.

If i didn't have so much invested in it i would probably keep my anime on bu-rays instead.

I have some burned, but mostly I just use my external HDD. I have a 1 TB Western Digital My Book. It's nice, but a little big. I also buy, but since I'm living in Korea right now, that's not really an option unless I want bootlegs.

My currently watching and some of the ptws are on either my external drive or internal drive. Normally, I delete things after I complete a show.

Wait... Why?

Unless you really want to watch that anime on tv, dvds with other files burned will still work normally in a computer. oO

I have a 1tb harddrive where I chuck in all my anime.
About a third of it is taken up by anime and like another quarter by other tv shows.
I'm too poor to affor dvd's but I would like to buy the material stuff when I get the chance/money.

I save it all on an external hard drive, as well as uploaded to my MediaFire account for extra safety.
I'm really paranoid about my computer crashing again. Last time it did, I lost about 35 gigs of anime.

I use http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Western+Digital+-+My+Passport+Essential+320GB+External+USB+2.0+Portable+Hard+Drive+-+Black/9467132.p?id=1218109905735&skuId=9467132&st=western%20digital&cp=1&lp=14

It's basically the most amazing thing in the world.

I store the anime I haven't watched on an external hard drive, and only save on dvds the ones I really liked. I got my external hard drive on a best buy store, the brand is seagate and memory space is 1TB; I've had it for a year now and have had no problems with it so far ^^

Got two 1TB externals mainly for storing shit, and then I bring some hundred gigs over to my D once in a while to watch.

But due to my habit of deleting mediocre series, the anime EHDD never seem to get close to being full.

I buy the DVDs, but I went a little more crazy over the weekend and decided to put together a computer to store DVD rips on. It'll only have 4.5TB of storage space, though, so it won't even hold one third of my collection. :(

Relevant because I think that's as close to exact opposite of the thread one could get...

I keep them on my computer, usually for weeks, then move them to a 500GB external if I ended up liking them and they were of reasonably good quality.

I store all my anime on my external hard drive, and in the rare case that the anime is actually released in the US, I buy it. I prefer to actually have a real copy, though not enough of it is localized here. Which is a real shame.

I store it on my external hard drive. I don't trust my computer enough to store things on it. Sometimes I'll also burn it on a DVD or something. I rarely buy anime on DVD, but I do rent it from Netflix pretty regularly because it's so convenient.

HELL YEAAH!!!

That's ALL I DO with my money mothaficionados.

I work around 40 hours a week, just so I can drop it all on anime. Not really, but I do buy most of the anime I watch. *sigh* Hopefully Heroic Age gets good. I do what I can to support the industry. Making a few regrettable purchases on the way...

Though thanks to the efforts of crunchyroll and hulu... I've been legally streaming anime. Which has allowed for my intake of anime to breifly blossom. Like a loli. Maybe more moe? Whatever. Hulu and crunchyroll rule. Still behind those diehard subbers! Them and their meddling hard drives. That and all the money that they still have that they didn't spend on anime.

This is my 100th post! YAAAAAY!

Wow back from the dead much???

well anyways, External Hard drives with a seperate power supply are known to break down 2-3 years later due to shitty construction for the sata to usb converter easily overheats if left on for long periods of time which in turn deteriorates the converter.

Well internals are getting cheaper by the dozen too... Just bought a 2TB HDD for $102
