There seems to be 5 or even 6 unresolved mysteries going on at the same time, I've a hard time tracking but I'll try to list
1. Who kill the carpenter and why
2. Who behead the carpenter, might not be the same person that kill the carpenter but very likely to be the same person that kill pets around the town.
3. WTF is that mummy
4. Who is the real master of Sasuke and Nikichi
5. The Azuma shop, located at the opposite of our protagonist shop, seems to have some problems (besides their cat getting killed)
6. Who's Ichitarou's brother and why Ichitarou want to see him so much and why he has to go alone without telling anyone

Everyone has something they'd give anything to get. When our passions take hold of us, money is no object. We're avaricious creatures." I wonder what young master is willing to sacrifice for some freedom and empowerment. This anime suddenly started to give off a much darker vibe.

I love all the spirits in this show, they've all been a little weird, often scatterbrained, and generally just fun to watch.

EXCEPT for his guards! Nikichi is a snide, unpleasant bastid, and while Sasuke tends to be more laidback, befitting his doggo nature, even he shows a disregard for the orders of his supposed master.

Had a good laugh over the mummy thing though, it showed that the shop was perfectly fine being a bit unscrupulous even if they might think the folk medicine of taking a dose of corpse is questionable, money is money is money!

Wonderful lore going on here and mysteries to be revealed. In my top five for the season.

hmmm I think this mystery is starting to heat up so I'll give it some more time.
It's a real problem that Sasuke and Nikichi won't obey the young master. How is he supposed to grow if his own servants won't listen to him?

This was trash and I hated it so much I'm dropping with a 1/10. Very very boring to me.

@phantomfandom I'm assuming that Matsunosuke is from the other shop and he is Ichitarou's brother

anyway I'm calling it, Matsunosuke is the killer, while Ichitarou is the animal killer

the one who behead the corpse is probably that tsukumogami that got beat up

That was such an exciting episode. So Ichitarou’s older brother is actually still alive? And apparently, the people there can hear (and maybe even see) those chibi Yanari too.

While the murder case still hasn’t been solved, a deeper mystery starts to unfold. We know Nikichi and Sasuke are really protective of Ichitarou, but I didn’t expect them to get that furious to the point they literally tried to tear Byobu Nozoki apart. Nikichi even managed to rip a bit of it with his nail. That’s way more extreme than when Ichitarou secretly snuck out at night. I wonder why... I mean, it’s gotta be more than just protecting a frail Wakadanna.

Question:

Does anyone else find Nikichi at times to be something of an outright thug?

Well, as I understand it, Matsunosuke is Ichitaro's half-brother, whom his father had with another woman on side. His older brother, from the same mother, died. And it seems Ichitarou somehow wants to make Matsunosuke the heir to his father's company, instead of himself. In the first episode, Ichitarou went to visit him, in Azuma, but he wasn't there. If I understood everything correctly.

@A-ten Yeah, probably something like that. I asked because I remembered Ichitarou's conversation with Suzuhiko-hime in the first episode, when Ichitarou said he went to see his older brother, Suzuhiko-hime replied with something like, "Wakadanna, don't joke around. You're an only child (since your brother passed away)."

Which means, as far as everyone knows right now, Ichitarou's older brothers are already dead.

But turns out, one of them is still alive, and there's a chance Ichitarou is the only one who knows that.

Anyway, this is just my assumption/own theory though. From the very beginning, we were only told that Ichitarou's brother had already died. That's all we got so far...

Another good episode. The mystery of the killer continues. Are the animal killings his doing as well? But Ichitaro must deal with some of the company's shadier business. Good thing he has two ruthless guards to protect him. Also, please send more cute female spirits.
Seriously, this show is doing anime proud. Quality animation. Historical accuracy. Japanese occultism. Characters that have full personalities.

Ichitarou and the brothers on the pursuit to Tokubei the carpenter killer as the murderer in question, though it seems as if that the news has been going around being spread like rumours in wildfire, while life goes on like the usual, albeit with mundane worries at best.

Still though, Ichitarou's main worries are the wandering spirits who respond to him from time to time, and keeping the regular humans away from hearing their voices that they're having intel to assist solving the cases on hand. Yet, the real problem, like Sasuke and Nikichi beating Byoku Nozomi into a pulp for disobeying Ichitarou, stems with the relationship between humans and tsukumogami on arrears.

It's kind of sad, because tsukumogami have masters, that if like Sasuke and Nikichi questioning who they truly serve, it's a matter of realizing what's their true calling.
