I just finished watching episode 1 on Crunchyroll. I’ve noticed that when Lufas talks about herself, she says like we or our? this really confused me. an example is when she first awakened, she said “Well, well, we have yet to grasp what’s going on here, would you care to explain it to us?” did anyone else notice this that can provide some insight or something? thank you!

yeah I was also confused. I thought it might be because of how the nobles in that world talk or because there are 2 souls in the same body

Probably because it's 2 souls in one body.

Right. meaning the guy who got isekai’d and her (being Lufas). that could make sense aside from the fact that it’s weird and unusual? like, why wouldn’t other people think it’s weird and be like “why are you referring to yourself as two people???” why isn’t anyone thinking anything of it. it seems really odd to me and kind of takes me out of it. maybe it gets explained in episode 2?

We don’t know what you’re talking about. /s

Reminded me, there was someone I once knew that at some point started referring to themselves in third-person, religion is for the fearful, can lose your mind when you give it up to make believe.

After looking at the manga they changed quite a bit, the manga or the translation I was reading used I, My, etc. At least in the first 2 chapters. Im guessing they did it the way they did in the anime either to sound more gender neutral or some bs cause he has some of her memories (2 souls or royalty) Imo I liked how the manga did it more, seemed more natural than us, we or our.

Just to differentiate between her actually speaking and monologue.

"We" for speaking to others, "I" for monologue.

So far, everyone is focused on the translation, which clearly has Lufas speaking as plural. I checked the last episode again and found a point when leaving the village where a pronoun was used, not something that regularly occurs in Japanese, and she says “Yo aru…”(I am…), the yo being 予 which is just I or me. It would need to be 予たち to be we. It seems like it was a conscious decision by someone on the transition team, apparently back when the light novels were translated, to apply such a speech pattern.
BTW my Japanese is basic, please educate me if I’m mistaken…

it's her character settings.
how our protagonist set her, she refers to herself with the 3rd person pronoun. it was literally explained in episode 1 and the web novel did the same thing.

Morons, the lot of you. It’s just a character setting for her to speak in royal plural

Honestly I love the plurality of using the royal we to refer both to her high position and two souls in one body. Her kris deltarune swag
Everyone needs to watch t least three good and three bad things in each genre or they will explode forever.

The queen of hearts also spoke like this in alice in the country of heart/clover. it's the "ware wa" that these people use. I've seen it in a few other anime 🤔 I guess it's a royal ruler thing..

@deg There are pronouns in Japanese but you can often drop them.
