@ZXEAN There isn’t a traditional production committee, so the profits should basically all be split between them, Shueisha, Togo, and Sony.

@littlewillie610 No, Mappa will get the maximum share, since CSM is fully funded by them. I think Sony and Crunchyroll are incharge of overseas distribution so they will get some profits as well.

Not exactly MAPPA did fund production, but they usually don't get the biggest cut. Toho and Sony handle distribution, which brings in most of the revenue. MAPPA mainly earns from production fees and maybe a small share if they're part of the committee.

@MaRuu__ CSM is a unique case because MAPPA actually self-funded it, meaning they took on both the production and financial risk. That’s why it’s not the same as JJK or other MAPPA shows where they’re just hired by a production committee. In CSM’s case, MAPPA gets a bigger share of profits but also shoulders all the losses if it flops.

We all know the west is going to carry the box offices all right considering how much the west loved the ip especially America xD

I saw a tweet in X that it managed to gross a total of over 11B Won in South Korea and sold over 1M tickets as of rn. Ig it surpassed JJK 0 in South Korea which is neat.

Here's the tweet if you're wondering:

@MaRuu__ Unlike Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man doesn’t have a traditional production committee. MAPPA fully funded the project themselves, meaning they also keep nearly 100% of the profits.

In contrast, Jujutsu Kaisen has a large production committee that includes companies like Shueisha, Toho, Sumzap, TBS, MAPPA, and others. Among them, Toho holds one of the biggest shares.

For Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc, Toho and Sony (via Crunchyroll) act only as cinema distributors. They don’t own the film; instead, they pay MAPPA a portion of the box office revenue from ticket sales.

The film is now just 700 million yen away from its target of 5 billion yen, a goal originally set by Studio MAPPA. Including international earnings, the movie has reached a total of around 6.7 billion yen worldwide, making it a notable success for MAPPA and performing better than initially expected.

The film is showing amazing legs in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Pretty weak in other countries but these 3 are carrying the box office so far.
I am expecting around 100 to 150 million dollars worldwide finish. Anything above that would be crazy good. Surpassing JJK0 would be icing on the cake.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

@CrazyFrogz Sony still takes commission of about 20%, as well as theatres take almost 50%. Anything outside of Japan, MAPPA takes even less profit of around 40% of the money. Because Sony gains more in that regard.

South Korea seems to love this movie and CSM. I didn’t suspect that but nice surprise.

It also seems the movie will reach between 6-7 billion yen in Japan overall. That’s a very good reaction I must say. MAPPA hearing those criticisms and fixing it is great.

Now only interested to see the west openings.

Most probably won’t beat JJK 0 world wide or reach it but who knows.

@MaRuu__ No. Mappa is the sole producer of CSM. There is no production committee. Everything other than the distributor's cut goes to them. So atleast 40%-50% of the total revenue is going to Mappa.

$100-150 million total box office is looking very likely. Doubt it'll touch JJK0 but MAPPA will ultimately profit more from this movie. I'm pretty happy with this result and looking forward to how they invest in future projects

Entire SEA + India is almost same as Taiwan while having 1000 times the population is insane. The promotion have been very ass for this movie.

120-150m overall gross from it's entire lifetime is very much plausible now. the fact that some theatres ran out of bonus promo materials to hand out speaks for itself, the WoM is insane

it looks like they'll get to like 60m or even more just from their asian markets through current trends so 100m+ is practically confirmed at this point

As a Chainsaw Man fan, I'm happy to hear this.

I hope this motivates them enough to continue this franchise, and we get S2.

predictable, it didn't come close to matching Demon Slayers' box office, it remains an outlier that I doubt will ever be surpassed (perhaps surpassed by Demon Slayer, lol).

But knowing that Chainsaw Man is doing very well, with better reviews than DS, makes me happy.

Worldwide box office gross between $150 and $230 million

Yeah, it’s impressive, but not that surprising tbh. Anime’s way more mainstream now; global releases, streaming hype, and massive fanbases everywhere. Breaking records today isn’t as crazy as when Spirited Away did it back in 2001.
