Who can prove that you and I are not a kind of weapon? Never been a fan of dragged-out fights, so I'm glad Arknights didn't do that. Yeah, it's been one long battle, but a progress through many things. The ultimate showdown, in comparison, is fairly short - and done impeccably well. Really cinematic, and it's not only the aspect ratio and the soundtrack either. If the game wasn't such a relative niche, with a story so hard to follow (through so many characters, without a clear line between "good" and "bad"), the anime would be a real major hit, with quality so consistently high through most of the season. Can't wait for more. |

Seems like a really well thought out conclusion to this. But everyone going their own way is also kind of sad, but a typical Anime' ending. |

Man they really saved the best for last in this season holy shit what a finale. Ch’en and Amiya vs The Black Snake is one of the best animated sequences you’ll see this year. Just pure chills. I honestly really couldn’t get into this show until Talulah’s arc because it was just so confusing and rushed, but I felt like her arc was very well done and straightforward and this finale feels like a great conclusion to it. She’s alive and still has a chance to turn things around, that’s all I could ask for. There’s so many people who still believe in the dream she had. Alina would be happy she’s found peace. I really like how they memorialized all the people who died up to this point as well. It puts the battle in context and reminds you this momentary peace was hard earned. So many people contributed to it I think the last 5 mins are where it kinda lost me, from what I understand, this ends act 1 of the game so it feels like they wanted to tie up a lot of loose ends and kinda give everyone some screen time there at the end, but half these people I don’t know or remember lmao. I wanna play the game so bad so I can understand more, but still no PC version. Could always emulate I guess.. but it’s weird there’s no dedicated PC client like Nikke or Brown Dust II. At any rate, this was my fave of the three seasons because Talulah best girl. Reona again making us tear up with a beautiful ED. |

If I remember correctly, the scene where one of the shieldguards takes off his helmet while talking to Rosmontis was one of the secret endings in Chapter 8. Really nice surprise to see it included in the anime. I also loved how the iconic CG of Ch’en and Amiya wielding their swords against the Deathless Black Snake was animated. That said, I was a bit sad there wasn’t a teaser with Siege Mostima The whole season definitely felt rushed, but I think the staff did their best with what they had, managing to squeeze two chapters plus a side story into just 10 episodes. Honestly, I’m just happy we got 26 episodes of Arknights anime at all. |

And thus, the first Act in the main story of Arknights, "Shatter of a Vision", and the Reunion storyline, comes to a close. Three seasons for 8 whole Chapters, and while it certainly got tight in this one, they managed to do it in the end. Hats off. The fight was absolutely beautiful, loved every second of it. The Deathless Black Snake's monologue in the background was great, and while some parts of the dialogue felt a tiny bit cramped, I think overall the pacing was decent. My only critique is the moment when Amiya collapsed, that moment and the revelation that the Doctor's blood could help counter her acute Oripathy flareup was a lot more impactful and tense in the source material, whereas in this it felt a little rushed. The Doctor arguing with Kal'tsit about immortalizing FrostNova's name among those of Rhodes Island's fallen Operators is a peak character moment, and I'm really glad it got shown. Now begins the wait to see if we'll get an adaptation of the next Act, "Shadow of a Dying Sun". Fingers crossed that we'll be going to Victoria soon! My Draco Queen(s) await! |

And so it ends. I liked the anime adaptation and have to give them credit for adapting this part this well with just 10 episodes cause it clearly is not ideal for the amount of things they needed to show the audience as they covered quite a bit plus needed the stuff from Darknights Memoir. I wished they included the parts they had to skip due to the being asked to just do all of this with 10 episodes such as Ch'en and Talulah's friendly fight that they did which called back to what they used to do, Mostima appearing, and the Emperor of Ursus talking to Islam Witte part |

i said it in an earlier thread and i'll say it again: even as an anime-only it think it's apparent that this season needed to be at least 2x as long; the pacing and editing has been all over the place. i blame the production committee for not budgeting more episodes because it definitely feels like the director and animation team did the best they could with the runtime they had |

@all_the_animes I agree, it's probably not the production staff's fault. I feel like this show needed even just 30-35 episodes in total instead of the 26 we got. They could've done a lot more with even just a few more episodes to work with here and there. Still, even the pacing problems this show has can't hide the quality of the story and writing that's been partially hidden underneath it. |

@MewsicMagic by production committee i don't mean the animation studio staff, i mean the committee of producers that funded it. they're the ones that dictate the amount of money allocated to the production and how many episodes the animation studio has to work with. the production committe for this show according to mal is "Hypergryph, Studio Montagne, Yostar, Legendoor" and they're the ones who as a group contributed to the pool of funding to allocate to the show and decided the animation studio (Yostar Pictures) had to adapt this arc in 10 episodes edit: ah, disregard this. i think you already knew this and i misinterpreted your post: i read "I agree, but it's probably not the production staff's fault" 😅 |

@MewsicMagic Yep, definitely agree that Rise From Ember especially could have done with an extra episode or two, not necessarily to add too much to the story - they got all the important parts and that's enough for an adaptation IMO - but just stretch it out a little to help the pacing. The adaptation of Darknights Memoir from episode 2 would have probably been perfect if it had been spread across two episodes instead of one. But even them managing to fit all this into just 10 episodes and retaining such high quality is worthy of praise. Praying to whatever god that will listen that we'll get an adaptation of the Act 2 chapters in the future and they improve the pacing for it so we get an absolute cinema of an anime. |

@Benzux Fr, never have I ever wanted to see a “normal” 12 episode season more than I have for this show. Normally I hate it when everything just gets 12 episodes and is then promptly abandoned. But not in this case. |

The Talulah fight scene was absolute sakuga. A real standout this season for sure. The bgm choices were good and loved the end insert song. They did well to add Kascheys yapping while not stagnant and alas using Talulah to her full power, mixing along well with dudes delusions. All the scenes I wanted to see for this finale were there which was great, and there were some good cut flashback moments that made the scene more amplified. I thought the end was definitely more lighthearted, and well with no preview of a continuing threat it makes sense, but the whole gang back together from s1 and s2 and friendly interactions towards each other were a nice addition (also 12F and Hellagur cameo!) Overall, yeah some more eps would have been nice but yk production committee things, and YP did their utmost best to make it all work out with as little harm to the plot as possible. A job well done. |

Exusiai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I prayed to all the gods and ancient primordial energies of Terra and hoped against hope on a wing and a prayer, but didn't expect that it would actually happen, even for lightning speed few second cameo. She always enlivens and becomes the immediate center of any scene she's in and a part of. Exusiai is the sun and all others her natural satellites who can only revolve in her orbit. On this as a whole - It's the end of a journey and arrival at a certain level of emotional catharsis which I didn't previously experience or to the exact same level and degree or in the exact same manner as with anime, until coming to discover anime. I'm open to watching any genre and type of series if it looks interesting in some way, but I never even heard of the game's existence or even the anime itself's existence until a few weeks into the first season starting to air and when I did learn of its existence just from some videos related to it in an assortment of search results popping up on YouTube, it only appeared to me most likely just another bland fantasy action anime with probably nothing atrocious yet nothing special or unique either and low on story. Instead it blew me away back then and each subsequent season through and including this one only further confirmed and solidified that view. It became my second favorite series of 2022 (may even retroactively bump it up to first but it's a close one) and one of my top favorites of the whole 2020s decade. There's something - and I know that this series isn't announced to be or confirmed as definitely over yet with this season and possibly and even probably will continue on at some point even as the plot evolves and changes and even if it shifts to focus on following some different characters and the setting partially changes too as the world shown grows and expands since this story arc seems conclusively resolved and over - but there's something to following each season of this since the autumn of 2022 and seeing at least this part of the story end today almost three years later. 26 episodes in total, or in other words, a respectably-sized full two cour season, broken up into three separate chunks and installments years apart. I keep wondering how different the feeling would be and how it'll be received by the cohort of some people now who will inevitably binge and watch the series at breakneck speed now within a few days or a week or two (or even those maniacs who watch shorter series like this all within one day/in one sitting!). I somehow can't imagine how different my impression and feeling would be coming away from it if watching it in that fashion now or in the future for the first time. I can't say that it would be necessarily better or worse, but just different. I ended up giving this season a 7/10 and that is what I've rated the other two as well so probably for the foreseeable future will stick with that for the series overall. It's not a bad or weak rating by any means, as some seem to consider it. Even some series in my extended favorites list I've given 7s. But this definitely has and always has had the potential to be at least an 8/10-tier series. I felt that profusely early on when the cinematic epic quality of the first season initially hooked me in. After seeing these all I can say that the first season is still my favorite (still just has my favorite individual moments - Franka's speech to Exusiai and Amiya about the allure of Reunion's ideology, the battle against the Reunion insurgents at the quarry site and Alex's/Skullshatterer's assassination attempt on Doctor mid-battle, Chen's schooling of Amiya on the pitfalls and long-term unfeasible nature of idealism and refusal to make trade-offs and sacrifices which is a mind trap Talulah would later discover, etc.). I can't decide, however, if I preferred the second season or this one. I will probably have to rewatch the second season as I only watched it in full once as it aired back in 2023 and only revisited one or two episodes and a few scenes since. The confrontation with FrostNova and her Arts incantation song, the second episode I believe, may have been the strongest episode and peak of that season and the battle with Patriot and the two episodes of Talulah's backstory might be the best of this one. Ironically, in a holistic sense I'd say that the second episode - the one showcasing W's backstory and jumping about wildly in time - was the worst episode of the season and probably the worst of the overall series just due to an atrocious, basically unacceptable-level pacing (which with such numerous quick cuts felt more akin to a summary video or one of those parody abridged anime videos) yet contained many moments and (albeit jarringly, even frighteningly quick!) scenes which were the cream of the crop and truly elevated this season and the whole series further. Again, in what's undoubtedly structurally and likely in general as a result the worst episode. Yet with such beautiful moments. There though raced through. In many ways that episode two epitomized and served as the perfect microcosm and distillation of this third season and, to a lesser extent, the series as a whole. Which is that it's bundled with contradictions. Though I'd rather have a lot more messy flawed series like this with interesting things to say and passion put into them than ones which do everything "right" yet are pictures of safe sterility by comparison. The weakest aspects for me were by far the frequently rushed and way too fast pacing (even if there were individual scenes or the majority of certain episodes where you didn't feel it nearly as acutely and egregiously as other times) and also a bit of convolution when it came to conveyance of and disentangling multiple overlapping and conflicting individual personas and motives, beliefs, and agendas toward the end. With only a few exceptions, I always tend to consider it folly and a major misstep to introduce a new higher level stage "big boss" or ultimate villain behind the villain at such a late stage, as it doesn't really allow you time and space for them to feel adequately explained or for you to build up much of anything in the way of feelings for or against them. And that's what the Duke Kashchey was - A complication and an underdeveloped and under-explained one in the context of everything which has happened and everything else going on. Did he just want Ursus to make its mark on the world and history by any and whatever means, even if it meant the deliberate poisoning of thousands or millions more random innocents with a terminal disease and war for "the sake" of war? Could that ultimately be considered noble and altruistic in a certain sense even despite the ruthless utilitarian logic as it's about using the sacrificial deaths and suffering as a stepping stone to elevate the country to a more advantageous position in the long run? Can't really say and don't feel too confident speaking about it as in the way utilized he amounts to a more a loose and vague set of ideas than a fully-realized character (great design and, as always, Toshiyuki Morikawa voice acting though - that's a given; the master manipulator spirit of Naraku/Griffith/Bondrewd is too strong). But all that taken into account, it was still beautiful, an odyssey, a good representation of why I watch anime as it's not the type of story I've experienced much in other mediums (video games, sure, which this is originally based on, but at least with older games I used to play they never had nearly as elaborate storylines and/or I could never get as invested in the storyline with the interactive experience of playing through something compared to more passive one of just watching uninterrupted), and my favorite thing from this year I've watched. |

The fight was pretty good but as soon as the Duke started talking it took me out of the scene. Sure, basically everything in Arknights is about the politics of that world and how it reflects of its people, especially the Infected, but there's a big difference when those themes are verbalized by characters like Amiya, Chen, Patriot or even Talulah herself and when it's by such nothing of a characters as the Duke. No, bro you are not Ursus, you have no relation to the politics to this world, your motivation doesn't matter because you do not exist for anything except to give Talulah an easier chance of redemption. They don't even have the balls to go all out on his amorality by implying that he did care about Talulah in a twisted way. With that out of the way, it was a good conclusion to the arc as a whole that could probably be improved by having a couple more episodes and being better paced. Even in the cooldown of this moment of celebration the dialogue is still delivered as if the characters are rushing over their lines with no room to breath. |

It feels pretty rushed especially the end. No impact felt on Mephisto transformation because of the quite fast pace.. 26 episodes for Chernoborg arc is pretty short, I think they need about 4 episodes more for better pacing. I noticed the balls behind Rosmontis were moving when she was using arts, what is those balls for? Seems it's never explained in the game. I thought those balls are for extra weight so she doesn't get thrown when using her arts lol. Overall just okay. The fight in the end was cool. alpo42ab said: Not having played the game I was impressed with the story for the three seasons that it ran. Looking forward to the next arc. @Grecefar Another point is that Wei killed his brother because of Black Snake, he still regrets it, so he tells Chen not to follow his old path. If Chen kills Talulah, it will only be a continuation of hatred. They should find Black Snake and completely eliminate him, and find a better future for Infected. |

that’s one way to ruin the last episode with this kind of pacing. jesus the story pacing in this season is all over the place, one episode will be just so great like ep9 and then you have ep2 and this ep. I already expected that this ep would be so rushed considering the in-game story left to cover, but damn it still really disappointed me. The fight is great and all, but many aspects in this episode are degraded and trivialized due to the pacing. Every characters talk like they are very in hurry of something, the dialogue is all crammed. I knew it will end up like this but the episode before this was really great I thought they could pull another miracle. Seems like they really want to end it here from the looks of it, they really cut all hints that lead to further world building and conflicts, and instead made it too happy of an ending, not a big glimpse of hope after all the loss and suffering like depicted in the game. If there will still be a continuation I just hope they find a way to get around this small episode counts, truly the only thing that ruins this anime. |

I think the last 5 mins are where it kinda lost me, from what I understand, this ends act 1 of the game so it feels like they wanted to tie up a lot of loose ends and kinda give everyone some screen time there at the end, but half these people I don’t know or remember lmao. I wanna play the game so bad so I can understand more, but still no PC version. Could always emulate I guess.. but it’s weird there’s no dedicated PC client like Nikke or Brown Dust II. At any rate, this was my fave of the three seasons because Talulah best girl.

It may take long time because even in the game the next arc is still not finished yet. This Chernoborg arc is 9 chapters while the next Victoria arc is currently on the 6th chapter.

@FallenSankta Victoria is 6 chapters, you can check the wiki here https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/Operation/Main_Theme#Act_II-0 Just realized it's already finished on 14 even though the situation in Victoria is still bad. |

@FallenSankta Well you edited the post, you said it's 5 chapters. And we don't have chapter 15 yet so I don't know it's unrelated |

the pacing ruin this episode for me. I prefer they cut lungmen stuff in beginning, some part with W, last bit part with amiya in rhodes island so the other moment can have more time |

Guess i should've played a game or rewatched previous seasons (too big of a break between them), because i was lost at many points at this season, like Koschey's motivations and plans, W's backstory, characters from previous seasons, etc. |

When the anime adaption was first announced all those years ago, I never dared to dream we would one day get to see all of Act I animated. Even when this third season was announced I wasn't convinced they would even be able to adapt all of this part in only 10 more episodes. Unfortunately some parts were rushed as expected, but as a whole I think this was a major improvement over S2. Many of the most important scenes got the attention they needed, and they really upped their game with the animation and music for those key scenes this season. Last weeks episode kinda felt like the real climax, and this final episode was mostly just a wrap up for the entire arc. I like how they flashed through all the episode titles at the end. 26 episodes, I wish we could have had more to prevent so many rushed scenes but I'm grateful for what we managed to get. Not many games ever get to have an anime with this amount of effort put into it. Now I'm praying for Act II to be animated. They can rush through most of the Victoria stuff if that's what it takes to one day see Babel and Ch 14 in the anime. While I'm dreaming big I'll hope for an anime adaptation of LoneTrail too lol |

@Marinate1016 If you ever give a try to the game, it's available on the Google Play thing on Windows (pretty much Google's emulator). But I would recommend using MumuPlayer. It's been more stable for me at least. As a player and avid lore enjoyer, I think they overall did a decent job but I can only agree with what most people said: this needed more episodes. Also Darknight Memoir should have been an OAV or something of maybe 3-4 episodes between season 2 and season 3. Here the pacing is clumsy and I'm not surprised about many anime-only watchers being a bit lost in the story sometimes. On the animation, music, etc... the quality has been improving over the 3 seasons. Kaschey's monologue is much less annoying to follow when you have a fight going on lol. Old people in Arknights tend to speak A LOT and I'm not surprised they cut off most of their dialogues in the end. My hopes for the future: some mini-seasons/OAV to adapt some of the side stories (the short ones like Code of Brawl) and then the whole story arc in Victoria this time with a better pacing. It's just hope, though. Most gacha game adaptation just do one or two seasons and are done with it. It's difficult to make an anime adaptation actually profitable. |

The battle between Ch'en and Amiya aganist Talulah was so peak with Talulah and her annoying fire and fireballs I had a hard time finishing that stage even with the most strongest operators that I have. I love how the battle was animated. I think overall, they did a decent job adapting Act I of the game with the budget and production that the anime studio have. I guess buying monthly card in-game is not enough to support and produce a better anime adaptation. LOL! I do hope we do get a second season adapting Act II of the main story and maybe some OVAs for Lone Trail side story. |

Despite realistically being better than previous seasons in terms of characters and story, I'll give it a lower score. My God, I feel like a rocket going at escape velocity would be slower than this episode. I really like ak, although I fell out of the game due it's gacha aspect rubbing me wrong (what can I say, Azur Lane spoiled me in the gacha department), I have always loved the characters and the heavy lore it features compared to others in the field. But that's exactly the problem here, something so lore and character heavy with convos and scenes playing at 10x speed is a bad combination. It's really difficult to follow most of the time while watching, fans have it easier but because they know the things prior to they being shown, no thanks to the episodes themselves. |
