Do you guys power through when anime does this? Or have you ever dropped a show entirely because the VA swap just killed the immersion?

No, maybe you just don't vibe with the new VA or just find it too different from the original, it doesn't bother me either way.

Probably unusual, depends on how used the audience is to a voice, some people will probably stop watching One Piece without Tanaka Mayumi voicing Luffy.

If the voice actors change midway through, I don't mind and keep watching. If the voice actors change in a remake, I lose interest and often don't watch it. Even if the voice actors are mostly the same and the character designs have only changed slightly, if it feels strange, I won't watch it.

It is definitely unusual especially if the change happens after many episodes and then you're suddenly introduced to new VA's and while it didn't happen to me with Japanese VA's it did with my native language ones where i would actually stop watching a show back then, nowadays i don't really mind it as much, but it's still unusual when it happens nonetheless

No, usually whenever there are new VAs replacing the other ones as long as they are accurately portaying the character of the source material VA adapts in the anime through their voice that is enough to be great.

This is really uncommon. Anime is one of the few mediums where seiyuu will reprise their roles like 30 years later.

The only time I really found this extremely jarring was decades ago in the English Dub for Season 3 of Sailor Moon. God, that was AWFUL. But usually, it's not a big deal in Japanese or English.

depends of how much the VA was important to you and how much you like the show. if you really like the show and the new VA is unbearable i would take the oportunity to check other languages dubs. now if you dont really care about the show just quit it, life is too short anyway

Personally I don't really care but I can see that being annoying and distracting. So maybe it's okay to drop if it's like your fave character and one thing you like is the VA. But I would just watch as that ain't too major for me

I don't think it's weird when people do this but I don't think of Japanese Anime the same way I view live action film. Simply replacing a voice for a characters isn't as extreme as replacing an entire characters. That would be like watching something like "One Punch Man" and suddenly one day "Saitama" is replaced by a completely different looking character and all they did was throw the original characters costume on them.

Very rarely have I watched an Anime that has replaced the voice acting of another character that is noticeable enough to be annoying. I think the only recent example I can think of was "The Misfit of Demon King Academy".

No, at first it makes me little sad, but I think quite quickly I'm getting used to new voice and after some time I start to like new voice, as much as first ❤

It's an understandable change sometimes. Voice actors die, or they're busy with other stuff, or they're retired. At a certain point, they should be changed. Voice acting can really take a toll on...well your voice, especially after years or even decades of doing it. Plus no voice change can ever be as bad as how Simpsons handled Dr. Hibbert. New guy can't even do the damn laugh he's known for.

I've never dropped a show because of it but it does feel really weird and it takes a long time to get used to the new VA. And even then when you imagine the character it's always with the original VA
