I hope that Gris will be fine, otherwise Rudo's fight so far is very interesting especially to learn more about his detection and dodge jinki, though it seems like his opponent has a strat to avoid the detection

I really loved this episode! Honestly I wasn’t expecting such a great way to handle an antagonist being crazy by making it more cliche. It was like a fact that made the character shine? But I think I was more admiring that the character had a really cool design rather than most of the cast. Aside from the secretary. Moreover, this weeks episode had a bit of a flash back time consumption that plagues most shonen shows. I was excited to watch this weeks show considering it handled the other episodes with love and care I kinda found it being EXTRA cliche.

Then again, it’s talking about trash so, maybe the way it handling it is to set up for next weeks episode? Maybe! But I might be overthinking this. The show has a way of pulling the rug under your feet when you least expect it. I like that this show handles its content delivery. As if building up some sort of momentum, it makes up a cliche scene only to deliver is an unexpected joke or even a cool scene. But i tuink i havent seen enough anime to be talking about it like that

RATING

Plot: 8/10

Gris had death flags on him since the beginning, but I didn't think he would die this early on in the show. I hope he's alright in the end. He's a nice guy. Don't want to lose another important figure to Rudo again.

The fight between Jabber and Rudo was really cool. Rudo beat the shit out of him, but it's not over yet. There's still a some life left in this fight.

Cool episode but it also reminded me why I don't generally watch shonens (because I hate fight scenes lasting 20+ mins and dragging over a couple episodes). Hopefully they will resolve this quickly in the next ep. and move on with the story.

I mean, I'm sure it will work because that's a real goofy lead up if not, but the justification that whatever berserker mode he goes into won't count as intent seems like a lame loophole to me. If he really didn't have intent he'd be as likely to crash into a wall as pose any threat to Rudo.

So Rudo's power isn't about vital intruments then but rather the ability to draw out the worth of an object? So the more worth someone has for an object the more powerful the effect will be?

That classic cliff hanger timing never gets old anyway just when I thought rudo had the upper hand turns out that fight was far from finished and that jabber guy got some neat vital instrument thought it may only limited to work on humans since it's a neurotoxin

anime has to be one of the best ive watched so far. this series is amazing and i was introduced to the manga from the show, everything is so amazing. the character designs, the opening theme matches the overall vibe and aesthetic of the show, the INCLUSIVITY! so many black characters and voice actors in the show it’s absolutely amazing and to top it all off an alternative woman has been the mastermind behind this peak all this time. this series is AMAZING!

Damn it, I knew it... I knew something bad would happen to Gris. He's the typical kind-hearted secondary character who always ends up getting hurt. He's not dead yet, but it seems very likely that he will be. In a world full of trash, Gris is too pure to belong to it.

It's a shame: if Gris had become a Giver at some point, he probably would have been able to use Rudo's instrument even better. His punches are no joke.

The fight and the action were incredible, but a psychopath like Jabber isn't the type to give up easily. And it seems he's discovered the weak point of the instrument Rudo uses.

Why is this progressing so slowly?? I’m already on episode 6 and I feel like nothing has happened. I understand it’s a 24-episode anime, but we’ve already finished the first quarter and it hasn’t even started to develop the power system. I’m about to drop it, and I don’t want to, because it looks really good, I was so hyped by the manga readers, and the world-building is great, but I’m falling asleep at this rate.

For me, as someone who hasn’t read the manga yet, this episode provides some important information about why Rudo is so obsessed with trash (things that others throw away). From what I understand, Rudo is like that because he feels what it’s like to be trash himself—he feels abandoned by his parents and worthless.

Another piece of information I got is related to Rudo’s power (or what’s called Jinki here). It turns out that it doesn’t come from the object itself. Instead, Rudo can draw out the true meaning of the item he holds.
In my opinion, this is quite overpowered, considering what we’ve seen in the anime so far—since usually, each person only has one item that can be turned into a Jinki.

That was a solid episode.

I love how they animated Rudo's flashback, especially with the black-and-white sketchy style. Rudo must have felt awful when Gris got stabbed; he just saw Regto die in the same way a while before, after all.

Jabber is such a crazy guy. Defeats Zanka, comes to Rudo just for a fight, and poisons himself just to test his hypothesis.

Since i haven't read the manga i have no thoughts of how it should be or not be. I simple watch it for the first time and i cant seem to find anything bad about it. The character design is flawless, really unique story and design. I think this will be a hit cant wait for more episodes..

In Gachiakuta, if you deeply value a certain item and take good care of it for a long period of time, it gets imbued with a soul, becoming a vital instrument and granting it's holder, the "Giver", supernatural powers. Most people do not value the things they have, so most people are not givers, and most givers value only one item deeply enough. Rudo got abandoned as a child, and because of it, he saw value in things other people found no value in and spent his life repairing them, giving them a new purpose. I think that is why Rudo can turn anything into a vital instrument, but only if he sees its value and can only use it for a very specific purpose, like with Gris' talisman. So I think it does not matter if other people see the worth of an item, as long as Rudo does.

@Chimal that is one way of looking at it, but in the episode Rudo was saying Gris prayed to the icon a lot so it seems obvious to me Gris did place some worth on the object and that is why it had a big reaction to Rudo's ability. He didn't get this type of reaction with other random trash he picked up.

This crybaby is a slacker foul who talk too much, an entire chapter wasting time and he still hasn't killed that jerk...

Btw a neurotoxine poison supposedly kills you, hitting himself it's an stupid nonsense powerup...

I think I had too many expectations for this anime, somehow reminds me to Black Clover, but with more garbage...
@Makaflayer Neurotoxic, adjective: poisonous to nerve tissue, as to the brain or spinal cord.

Note that the literal dictionary definition doesn't involve lethality. MANY animals have neurotoxins that are survivable.

So we get a little more backstory on Rudo this week. Seems like he projects himself onto things that have been thrown away, like how he sees his parents throwing him away.

Really cool how he was able to use Gris' talisman to create an instrument. It being strictly defensive is unique and different than what you'd expect for a fight like this. Seeing Rudo create and wield new instruments is definitely one of the best parts of this series so far. Although, I feel like the "rule" that Jabber tried to establish at the end there might not be necessarily true. To me, I interpreted it as it will protect Rudo from any harm. I feel like that should include someone who is flailing aroudn with poisonous claws, whether they have malicious intention or not.
