Rhodes Island Pharmaceuticals discovered an abandoned mobile city on the outskirts of Ryu'umon and sent a reconnaissance team to conduct a field investigation and verify the presence of survivors. However, communication with the team was lost, prompting Amiya to decide to head to the mobile city herself for a rescue mission.

Wei-san truly messed everything up. i haven't commented much, but it's clear that the fight between Ch'en and Hoshiguma was quite epic. Although they are friends, their battle was serious. Before the fight, Ch'en casually mentioned the sister—what was that about? Ch'en left Hoshiguma and departed from the city. The episode was quite epic, and i really enjoyed that fight.

I’ve just accepted that I’m probably never gonna really understand the story here and the gaps between the seasons coming out doesn’t help 😭 I love the art style, animation and voice acting though so we move. I’m going to play the game, SOME DAY.

This ch’en arc seems like it’s going to be very emotional though considering what we saw happen with FrostNova from last season. If the infected get euthanized.. doesn’t bode well for her. Hopefully Amiya can save her. In just one episode I did get kinda invested in Ch’en’s family story and she seems like the sort of person to try to carry a lot of burden on her own. The voice acting performances in this were so emotional.

The fight with Hogishuma was awesome and said all you needed to know about their relationship. Every strike was an exchange of feelings. Very well directed start to the season too. No OP, no ED. Just feels.

Absolute god-tier VA work from Shizuka Ishigami. Rise From Ember is off to a good start. Hoshiguma and Ch'en's fight scene could have been a little more bright but both that and Ch'en's confrontation with Wei Yenwu were great. First big reveal of the arc is also done.

@Sheol01

The "Integrated Bioprocessing Unit" is a fancy name for an incinerator. FrostNova was already dead, so the Doctor took her body to be cremated. It's a necessity, as when Infected die, the crystallization of their bodies will advance rapidly, until the entire body turns into a big chunk of Originium, which then explodes into extremely fine dust that can and absolutely will infect anyone who happens to be nearby to inhale it.

@Benzux OK, I feel a bit better now. It would seem counter to what Rhodes Island has been portrayed as.

@Sheol01

It hasn't been explicitly mentioned anywhere, but as a pharmaceutical company specialized in handling Infected patients, I do imagine that Rhodes Island does have some sort of euthanasia policy, or at the very least end of life care support for those infected patients who are on death's door, but yeah, the Integrated Bioprocessing Unit is just a crematorium.

As Rosmontis alluded to, many of Rhodes Island's infected Operators have gone on their final journey through it. Their personal effects and other relics tend to not be burned with them, however, and are instead taken to a place called the Reliquary room, which is sort of like a graveyard where people can go to pay their respects for the dead.

I really missed this whole bleak feeling I get from the animation.

Good episode to begin a season, remembering where they left off, where they are going, lore, some hands being thrown, Rosmontis appear, see Hoshiguma.

Quite the ruse the enemy had enacted with chernobog. Destruction if you do nothing infamy if you do. In the end Frostnova at least managed to get a burial compared to the yeti's who were killed to a man. Forget paralysis from that recording looks like Ursus is in civil war. The slums though brought destruction upon themselves. Chen as ever was just fantastic in her display of her skill with the blade. Looks like its clear who has the real power between Fumizuki and Wei lol. That dual between Chen and Hoshiguma was pretty sad but nontheless dramatic.

the world needs more fumizuki and wei
love to see her just spilling secrets to rhodes and making wei be honest

never get on hoshigumas bad side, almost felt like she was trying to kill chen x-x
sad to see hannya damaged, I don't remember chen doing that let alone using chi xiao for it but damn that must be hurtful
great scene showing the two

glad to see yostar continuing to show their understanding of the source tho I do wish there was a bit more of Wei and the shadow guard, I recall getting the impression that Wei was so angry out of shame from having used them and the guard showing some humanity was of value

Frostnova already died in season 2 so they don't exactly euthanise them. It's a cremation chamber for dead Rhodes Island personnel.

That happens to every Infected that dies as they basically explode if their corpses are left to rot as the Originium in their body releases gas, making them essentially a ticking time bomb that can always infect new people, which is also why they are so heavily discriminated against.

nvm i see your question was already answered

Loved this episode. Im really invested in this world and the characters. The Arknights anime is really good at conveying the emotions of characters and the difficult situations they face. When the first season aired I was honestly really suprised a gacha-game adaptation could be this good. This first episode was brilliant. Lets see if they can continue their high level from the previous seasons

Excellent start to the season, and while I don't remember much from the second season, I can feel the conflicts and tension between the characters. I loved the Frostnova scene, and Ch'en's fights were incredible, especially against Hoshiguma, thanks to the animation, which has really improved greatly. I hope it continues like this throughout the season.

Rosmo saying she's used to taking care of cremation is sad. But it's necessary and abandoning the process would only lead to more tragedy. You'll be remembered frostnova. At the very least her face looked happy in the end.

Chen fighting hoshi was just too emotional. Now I understand why she left lungmen and got an alter.

Bakutie said:

Honestly aside from the shield throw, hoshi tried to pin her down and incapacitate her.

I always see chen as this angry blob who can't catch a break and calm down. But it seems despite her usual demeanor, she's quite soft and kind at heart. She's stubborn but compassionate.

Incredibly happy with the animation quality in this first episode as compared to the start of last season. Not having Mephisto on screen really helps with that.

Great episode. Great to see the animation quality even better than last season, it's been in the works for around 2 years and it's fully in house, so really looking forward to the more crazier parts this season that the animation will truly shine. Great pacing also for this episode, sequencing the Ch'en Hoshi fight earlier so it flowed well right after the office scene. And speaking of the fight scene it was just raw where you could feel every kick, punch, and throw, and the Chi Xhao animation was stellar. And that's with it sheathed, breaking Hoshi's Hanma like that. And man they really ramped up Wei here, which was a great decision and showed a different side of him. He's a complex character and so far that's been shown quite well. Overall great first episode, really looking forward to this season. 9/10

Yoi can just see that they are really invested in the animation quality in this series. Amazing, crisp visuals. The fights are epic, flashy, yet you always clearly see what's going on. Great job.

The only flaw it has, is that the story is all over the place. I think that the politics behind the scenes is what makes is so hard to grasp and enjoy for many people, myself included. There are multiple factions in a power struggle, and with the seasons being only 8 episodes long, the don't really have time to flesh all of the intricacies out.

That being said, it's not a total enigma. As for me, I get the gist of it, and that's enough. Focusing on the main cast is still more important for the story, than the overly complicated politics. Overall, they help to understand the motivations behind the actions and relationships of the main cast and I don't think that it's essential to view them as anything more than that.

all gacha games adaptations should take note of arknights.

great come back, I did kind of have a little hope that frostnove was just sleeping but it's not that easy and it would've just throw away all the emotions of the previous season.

I played the game and for some reason, I get confused sometimes by the story lmao. I still recommend playing though, it's very fun. Kinda a bummer that we have to act as doctor though because I love doctor so much, I want him as a character instead LMAO. I'm weird for falling for the self-insert character.

What I saw that day... the despair stuck in my throat, the futile attempts to scream... I want to bury it all deep inside my mind and never let it out again...
