The 13th and final episode of Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals (My Hero Academia: Vigilantes) has announced a second season and revealed a teaser visual (pictured) on Monday. The new season is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Produced by Bones Films, the first season aired for 13 episodes in Spring 2025. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime with subtitles and later with an English dub.

Furuhashi and Betten courst serialized the spin-off manga in the web magazine Shounen Jump+ from September 2016 to May 2022. Shueisha published the 15th and final volume in July 2022. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in 2018 and released the 15th and final volume on October 2023.

Synopsis
Living in a Society superhuman, it's hard to feel special. Especially when the spotlight shines only on professional heroes, those legally allowed to use their special powers known as "Quirks" in public for the greater good.

Kouichi Haimawari grew up aspiring to be a hero, but with a mediocre Quirk like "glide" that grounds him, he soon came to the conclusion that he could only admire them from below. Despite this, Kouichi finds contentment in using his Quirk to perform everyday good deeds, such as returning lost items and helping the elderly cross the street.

However, Kouichi's quiet life turns turbulent when he is rescued from an alleyway fight by "Vigilante," or illegal hero, Knuckleduster. Seeing hero potential in Kouichi, Knuckleduster enlists his help in tracking down the source of a dangerous drug known as "Trigger," which enhances the user's Quirk at the expense of their rationality.

Set in a Set before the events of the original story, Vigilante: My Hero Academia Illegals follows Kouichi as he chooses to embrace his villainous reputation and become a Vigilante, operating under the shadow of the law to prevent crimes from coming to light. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Keeping up the tradition set by the original series, we get a new season announcement right when the airing season ends. Nice, at least we don’t have to wonder if a new season will ever come.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Take me back to the days before MAL became infested with Twitter's favorite buzzwords.

I liked the anime overall, but should we expect them to adapt the entire manga that has already ended?

Great. Season 1 was really good, but the manga really picks up after this point.
