Otr is getting a better handle of his powers but please tell me we aren't going straight to a training arc.

The early exam arc killed Red Hood so I hope this isn't a repeat of that.

much chiller chapter. So it will be vs ice spirit I guess, kinda predictable.
Ok chapter, the first one was much more exciting. Looks like some training is next

The problem with Red Hood wasn't having a training arc in the first chapters, but rather the way it was executed. Debonair's exam was too boring and dull, I'm sure that if instead of that we had an arc with Grimm teaching Velou how to HUNT for real and facing other werewolves, the manga would have lasted a little longer.

This was a really strong 2nd chapter imo. I feel like we got a better understanding of the characters and their motivations. We got a little bit of lore from the Flame Spirit, which I feel was done good, not too text-heavy, and wasn't an info dump. I also like that we are on to the next place and we're done with the fortress, as it didn't feel like a lot of the story could be fleshed out there. This is an adventure tale, the adventure of Otr's journey to the Ice Kingdom to defeat the demons. The art in this series is truly amazing, the plot is picking up, and the characters are likable.

@Red_Ranger_Wien Honestly, I think the writing was on the wall for Red Hood even before the training arc. I am one of the few who really liked that series and felt it should have been able to go on longer than it did. I don't feel like the training arc is what sank Red Hood.

Solid chapter! Art was once again breath taking and undeniably super detailed, and stylized, love it so much! The paneling and page layout in the spreads, such as Otr chucking his attack at his enemy were also incredibly pleasing to the eye! Though I can't say I'm a huge fan of the story so far, or the characters themselves. That's not to say they're bad, they just need more time to develop and interact with each other to show off their personalities more. But I mean, this is only chapter two so I'm certain both the characters and story will grow on me in the coming weeks. Over all, jaw dropping art and action, and I'm excited to witness our little cook grow into an even more refined warrior than he already is.

This was a solid second chapter. I wish we learned more about this world, because that didn't really happen in this chapter. Still, it's not a big problem: information will almost certainly be given in the training arc that is to come.

I like Fylgja: she's such a goofball.

Sometimes I find lore and story heavy manga can be overwhelming and a bit convoluted, but they’re explaining the world and power system so slowly and clearly that it’s hard to get confused. Love the pacing so far!

I hope this lasts a long time bc I LOVE THE ART!!! That double spread at the end was so beautiful!! Plus, the characters have some wicked designs and I’m totally down for a WSJ viking manga. Onward!

It would find an audience for a long running series with no breaks fast on Netflix like One Piece
