i'm proud of taiki for finally putting his foot down and rejecting hina. it was for the best. hina can start to move on and heal. she kept saying she was fine with taiki still liking chinatsu and she doesn't care if he confeses etc. but that's bullshit no way she wasn't hurting so even though the rejection was really painful i think this is for the best. one good thing that came outta the rejection was the twin-tail girl becoming likable. she's nice. but goddamn hina really did love and care about taiki a lot to cry buckets like that. a very difficult position for hina to be in. i was scared that hina and taiki's friendship would be ruined and after this it definitely feels like it will. such a shame. like kyo said they felt closer as friends. respect to taiki to let hina decide how she wants to proceed with their relationship.

i don't think anyone else beside the twintail knows about her getting rejected. seems she didn't even tell her gym buddy.

happy that taiki is taking active steps in his pursuit too.

i'm really looking forward to how hina is gonna be around taiki now. she can't avoid him forever. the whole gym knows they are good friends etc. and also if they go back to being friends or not. basically i want the whole thinking process and healing process of hina, everything that's going through her mind. i hope taiki starts feeling better cause he is feeling bad too, i mean she wasn't a random girl she was a very close friend so makes sense. i really hope season 2 comes out next year.

I've been a firm Chiinatsu fan from the beginning, and have been in Hina's shoes, but I never expected to still be taken so aback by Hina's mourning arc. She's taking it like a champ.

As for Manager butting in, i can't tell if it truly is the usual girl code, or they're leaning into the bait that she hasn't felt major feelings to any of her exes, so seeing Hina love so fiercely makes her capture her attention. Then again, I assume not-- because I think most friends would try to uplift fellow friends' feelings.

What a sad way to end the anime for Hina :( her moments with Ayame were awesome though (that middle finger ahaha) and now we're getting a Chinatsu and Taiki date... for next season.

Kyou nonchalantly lecturing Ayame about relationships as if he had lived ten lives lol. Dude's a romance sage for real.

And woah, angst galore as finale for the poor Hina bros. Gotta type F in chat for them.
Now seriously, kind of an abrupt conclusion for a 25-episode long season if I'm honest. Our Hina is currently an emotional mess and Taiki is already making his move by inviting Chinatsu to a no-date, which we didn't get to see. This said, good thing a sequel was already announced because otherwise, this finale would have felt kinda poor.

Highly enjoyable first season overall. Never felt bored while watching it, I really liked the way how most of the characters were written with some of them feeling incredibly relatable for moments and aside from some minor cliches, the lack of predictability DURING THE FIRST COUR (dear lord did cour 2 go full bananas with the cliches) was something I really, really appreciated.
Visuals also looked rather pretty in most of the episodes and in a particular note, I gotta say Ayame's character really took me by surprise. Was ready to dislike/hate her but her addition to the cast ended up being a rather welcome one. After all, we wouldn't have been able to see the resolution of this never-ending love triangle (within this season at least) if it wasn't for her butting in lol.

8/10 - Looking forward to seeing how things develop within the cast in Season 2.

P.S.: And I never understood what the title "Blue Box" referred to...

Weird thoughts before I say anything... imagine Ayame falls for Kyo… or Chinatsu rejects Taiki in season 2… or Hina transfers to another school! 😂

Overall, the episode was great. I enjoyed every moment of this anime.
I had concerns, like Karin’s sister being annoying, or the love triangle becoming boring, but the show handled them well.
I usually love shows with heavy dialogue, and this one delivered!

A date with Chinatsu next season? Ugh, months of waiting! I can’t wait, I’m heading to the manga, even though I never read manga. But I’ll try, because… I loved this show so much.

I got attached to the characters, the scenarios, the happy and sad moments… I feel like this show perfectly captured the meaning of emotions.
Even though I still disagree with how they portrayed Hina as weak and fragile, I’m excited to see what happens next season.

Thank you, Blue Box. These 25 episodes will leave a hole in my heart that no anime can fill for a while.
High quality that matches my taste and satisfied my cravings!
10/10.
Best anime of 2025 for me so far, and probably among my top 5 of all time.

Maybe I’m exaggerating because I binged it in two sessions and the excitement is still fresh. Maybe I’ll cool down in a month or two.
But for now, I’m at the peak of enjoyment.

Wait wtf it ended like that? I was so confused I thought I watched the wrong version or something lol, it ended so abruptly.

Taiki's passive attitude at the 3/4 part of the show irked me a bit, but I feel like it's worth it at the end because I guess it took him a long time to properly sort out his thoughts. I knew I was gonna like this before I started the show, so I'm glad I wasn't wrong. I also knew it's going to be a painful ride because I liked Hina already before I started the show.

It sucks that we couldn't get to see their date though. Totally wasn't expecting them to end it like that.

Also, Kyou x Ayame ship seems to be setting sail soon. I'm hyped for this.

9/10. Hope the next season comes very soon.

Had to lower my rate from 10 to 9 ;/
The animation was great, the emotions on their faces also, the scenery also great but it lacked more city animations. OP's and ED's were nice in part of music and very good with animations. There were also many funny moments. I liked the fireworks animations also. Many other things.

Characters are really deep and well portrayed and their decisions and actions explained.

All good, but WHY DIDN'T HINA WIN?! ;(

I thought its gonna be only 25 episodes and that he will go out with Hina then brek up to be with Chinatsu, but it went way different. Meaning there was less drama, but I wonder if Hina will have some more screen time in that season 2? Makes me wanna check some manga chapters... but anime was so great I would only waste it reading it...

Chinatsu is a good girl, but also boring and uninteresting.. and the last episode was weak compared to all that happened ;/ I don't know why he loves her more? maybe bigger chest?:P but Hina got prettier face and rest.. and got other advantages with gymnastics ;d

This was cute but I really wouldn't watch this show again nor a second season of it. Cour 1 was more interesting than cour 2 because anyone could see how things would end for Hina from episode 1, so it looked like a really forced love triangle. When an MC is this hellbent on one person then there's no point in even trying to stop him. I think I enjoyed the sports aspect more than the romance, but that blend of both pushing each other to improve reminded me of Baby Steps.

the latter half of the season felt like a torture, and seeing Hina just crying for the last episode hurts. it hurts.

Still, I wanna see how Taiki and Chinatsu's relationship develops.
And what happens to Hina from here on.

I was seriously thinking in the early episodes that Kyo × Hina would be a good pair, but now I don't even know anymore.
Kyo and Ayame seems to be an interesting "outsider" duo tho, I somehow ship them.

Excited for Season 2.

And so season 1 ends. This episode was full of Hina feeling down, as expected. Ayame tried to cheer her up throughout. I have to hand it to Ayame, she realised that her meddling was the reason for everything. Before leaving, Taiki and Haryu had a match, and Haryu won. He admitted he was actually scared of playing Taiki and losing. But he won, so he's happy. Back at the city, Ayame took Hina out to have some fun, but they ran into one of her ex-boyfriends. Right in front of her, he said some pretty petty things, which caused Hina to defend her, then start crying. Everything about being rejected was still very raw to her. Chinatsu and Taiki arrived at home at the same time, and Taiki did it. He asked her to go out with him. But where? To buy a new tracksuit. Haha. A little pathetic, but she agreed and asked to go to a cafe, too. So, it's a date! It's after Saturday practice. And on that day, Hina saw Taiki and avoided him. Ayame is pissed off at him. She confronted him, and he explained. She seemed to understand that he actually does care for Hina, but in a different way. Hina, on the other hand, can't stop crying. Later, Taiki rushes to leave, and Haryu asks Kyou if he has a date. Kyou admits that he does, and Haryu is happy that Taiki finally asked her out. Taiki arrives at the meeting place, and meets Chinatsu, who's watching the clouds. And that's it. Season 1 done.

I do have to admit that Ayame learned something, and she really does seem to want to help Hina. I think we have a new friendship starting! And Taiki had the guts to ask Chinatsu out! And she said yes! I'm also glad to see Haryu is rooting for Taiki and Chinatsu. A happy ending for Taiki, but a very sad ending for Hina. What will happen in season 2? I can't wait. I want to know how this date went, and if Taiki finally tells Chinatsu how he feels. Probably not, but I'm sure we'll have another 25 episodes to see their relationship slowly grow.

I think I can say that this is probably the best romance anime I have watched.

Finally had the chance to finish this. The second half leans more heavily toward the romance aspect of the series, which is cute but wish there were more matches. Sucks for Hina to be flat out rejected like that. It begs the question: had it been better to let her dream for more a little while or to make her face reality. Not to mention the opening and ending focuses heavily on Hina, which makes it more messed up.

I mostly watch every episode while doing my workout at home and it filled me with great energy to complete a set faster.

There are some awkward animations here and there, but all in all a solid 8/10 for this season.

I really don’t know what to say, im speechless of why did this anime have 25 episodes and the story can finish in 12-14 episodes, the anime is alright not the best romance anime and i saw many other animes can develop the story but this anime all the 25 episodes was literally the same except the last 3 episodes other than that i couldn’t see any romance between the main two characters, i saw only hina’s emotions and feelings towards taiki but i did not see if taiki took a really serious step forward; same as for Chi. I hope i can see more story development in season 2

Ending the season like that might seem weird, but it’s actually fine. Regardless of how the date turns out, we already know how Taiki and Chinatsu feel about each other.
It works both as a way to make viewers look forward to the next season and, more importantly, to push them into reading the manga — which honestly deserves it.
Ayame had such a big role in helping things progress, and I’m happy that she benefited from it too, as she also started thinking about relationships more seriously.
Also, Ayame and Hina becoming besties was something I didn’t expect because of how different their personalities are, but honestly, that’s how things usually are in real life too.

18:55 they censored her middle finger 🤣

My 12th Fall 2024 anime finished! Man, this was a rough ending 😅 I am team Chinatsu, but man I really feel for Hina. I know she stood no chance from the start and her rejection was expected, but man it still hit hard. Akari Kitou did a fantastic job voicing her. The crying was so realistic. Second childhood friend zone character after Mikari from 2.5D Ririsa last season 🥲 she’s the new Nao Touyama 😅

Anyway, I had to watch this season finale raw since there are no subs available right now because I’m early, but I didn’t want to wait 😅 I understood mostly everything anyway. Poor Hina man, but I so hope for a season 2 to see Taiki and Chinatsu get closer 🙏🏻

You pretty much sumed up my sentiments with your post.

In terms of that censored middle finger, I didn’t know that the Japanese broadcasters did that. It certainly is much further away than when Bulma gave a middle finger to that Pilaf guy in dragon ball, and it was uncensored.

And in terms of a season two, I originally thought that there wasn’t going to be one, considering that the situation seemed pretty conclusive. Especially with Taiki and Chinatsu. But then I came across a listing for a second season of Blue Box. So I wonder how that’s gonna turn out?

And that concludes the season. We had:

A boy stuck in (and possibly ended) a love triangle
A senpai that loves to make confusions
A heartbroken pink-haired girl (love triangles suck!)
A... really good friend
And an annoying pick me that loves to mess with everyone's love life (I'll hate her with my heart and soul)

I still don't know what the 'box' part of Blue Box is, but I'll assume it's a metaphor for a love polygon

I felt bad for Hina in the manga, and I still feel bad for her now, in the anime. However, at least Taiki rejected her instead of having a love triangle between them and Chinatsu.

I hope this has a second season, especially after that ending, because there's a lot more to explore here.

Devonnius said:

agreed. as much as part of me wanted Taiki and Hina to be together, it was better this way - giving her a clear answer right away rather than stringing her along. despite what Hina said about being willing to wait as long as needed, i believe giving her false hope wouldn't have done her any good in the end.

ED just hits harder after all that. I'm so glad season 2 was announced, because I want to see Hina back to her joyful self and close friends with Taiki again. Their chemistry was such a bright spark for me this season. I said I'd be happy with whoever Taiki ends up choosing, so I'm not too depressed about the result (Already knew it was Chinatsu, just like everyone else). Watching Hina's reaction was the heartbreaking part. This is going down as one of my all-time favourite romance animes. It was amazing to watch, all the character's, animation, story were amazing, and the sports side really adds a unique element to the anime, making it stand out from others. Really looking forward to season 2. W ANIME!! 10/10🔥🔥🙌🐐😍✅️

The romance part made no sense to me. Hina was a solid character to not be misused that way. It would made more sense for Taiki to be interested in her anyway. After leaving an open ending with a Taiki/Chinatsu hint, I definitely wouldn't watch a second season... It just feel like someone confusing admiration and letting a solid established friendship go.

this was a great watch really, as for someone who tends to overrate things this was easy 10/10 for me, all checklist for the genres, the sports are very good, good story, good romance, school themed, has love polygon, everything else is good but as always this is the one of the shows where i REGRETTED watching it, i know i shouldn't have said that but ughh this is why i hate EVERY love polygon animes, i swear this would be my last time watching those genres (like FOR REAL) but hey, atleast both of them got their ups n downs.

well even though i said that, i still hate how the author did Hina really dirty right there brooo how im gonna recover from the last ep :sob:, she was easily the best girl for me, good backstory, good personality, dedicated ending just for her (god damn im literally CRYING at her rejection) she literally has one of the most purest type of love for Taiki and still lose, even though she didnt win but she already won my heart and i dont care what everyone says about that hmph, and good thing is atleast Taiki gave her a clear answer on her confession (unlike some shows), even though she gets rejected i hope she would still make a comeback in the next season (VERY LOW EXPECTATION THOUGH, I AM JUST COPING LET ME BE, ALSO I NEVER READ SOURCE MATERIAL, SOMEONE GIVE ME A GOOD NEWS FOR HER PLEASE IDC SPOILERS ANYMORE) god damn for the love of god why cant authors create a story where childhood friend won or like the first one to confess won or something like that :sob: well if my wish cannot be granted by the author i just really hope Hina finds someone better than Taiki grr

but yeah genuine opinion though most of the time its her fault though like she literally have SO much time to realize her feelings, but as always it was too late and ofc Taiki would fell for another girl, but again why cant they make childhood friends superior just why bro i swear to god, and also why cant they choose both like POLYGAMY ISNT HARAM MY BROTHER WHYYY (atleast in my country though, 二股/futamata is actually legal) (and as always dont mind me im just venting out)

I like Kyo's definition of Taiki, early on in the episode; it captures plain and simply why Taiki is going for Chinatsu rather than Hina. And that is because he likes "to pursue, rather than be pursued". Clearly throughout the season Taiki has shown himself to be a hard worker, a masochist even, as described by Haryu. Not calling Chinatsu as such, but Taiki will probably go for the shitbox 100 miles away rather than the lambo right in front of him if it meant he had to work for it. It's still baffling, but it's the best reason we got right now for the way Taiki feels.

Was hoping Taiki would speak to Hina one last time before the season ends, offering even another ounce of closure to whatever romantic facade they have been projecting, but he's right. It would've been to soon. At least we are shown how hurt he is inside as well; was afraid he would've moved on from that moment too easily and be all happy and stuff. Ayame lays it on him pretty thick that Hina is an emotional mess. But again, Taiki knows that she and he both need space at the moment. We'll have to wait for season 2 for them to talk again I suppose. Glad that Hina at least has made a friend in Ayame who is doing her best to comfort her the best she can.

Well we see Taiki going out on a date with Chinatsu, and yeah that's it, end of the season. This was a good anime, but I'm not satisfied. As far as love triangles go, I think Blue Box handles it considerably better than most. But it's still a love triangle, and love triangles will never not suck.

Nonetheless, still excited for season 2. It does make you wonder how things will progress from here. The love between Taiki and Chinatsu will grow no doubt and become more realized to each other, but how will the story handle Hina? She must remain a prominent character, but will she be one that has moved on from it all, or still continue to pursue Taiki? Dang I hope it's not the latter, but I feel like it's gonna be somewhere in between. We'll see I guess.

6.5/10

Ayame had a not good, had a GREAT idea to bring Hina to the arcade to relax herself and put aside her problems, too bad that plan went out of hand. Still, as much as i feel sorry for Hina too, she shouldn't interfere too much with Taiki's decisions. And... what a abrupt finish to the full season.

It was good, 7/10. Probably a little too long and i was sort of disappointed by the double standards about showing screentime for the main couple sports of choice, more or less 90% badminton and 10% basketball but it's honestly my own bias and won't complain too hard for it. There wasn't a single character i loved but also no unsufferable ones either, Hina especially had some amusing moments especially when she was into sports diva behavior. i won't automatically watch season 2 when it begins, it's not a priority for now, even if it is a fine series after all.
