Holy shit its happening!
Y'all don't understand....I just recently watched Bocchi and fell in love with it. It opened my eyes to some different genres in anime.

I have hope. For me, Bocchi's strength is in how it portrays the passion behind music, with the added bonus of funny visual gags on top. The new director definitely seems capable of handling the funny gags part, so as long as the first part is done well, I'm good.

The great news so far! we, CGDCT or moe fans, were forgotten. I am not watching anything this season because there is no moe anime. I read Bocchi the rock manga and I can tell this second season will be amazing!!!!!! ❤️

I've been thinking that, besides the anime itself, the best thing about this announcement is the inevitable new Kessoku Band content that will come with it. Hopefully another full album's worth, especially since the interviews have said that the season will be even more focused on music performances.

And I really hope the anime itself nails those scenes as well as the first season did, because the animation/directing for them were so damn good.

Hyped, but wondering how it's going to be without Saito as the director. Makes sense if he's focusing on Frieren, so I hope this season can continue what the first did

I'm super hyped for two things, the anime itself and the soundtrack. Season 1 OST got me hard into J-Rock and been listening to it since then. Bocchi changed my musical taste so much, I hope S2 bring some bangers too

So its pretty clear that this season might be just as good as S1.

Thus best not to fearmonger.

@animefanftw123 We already knew he was an assistant director for S1 when this thread was made 5 months ago. Not sure why you are bringing that up to me now.

@animefanftw123 What on Earth are you talking about? There were already numerous posts, before I made my post, stating he was the assistant director in season 1. His name is even in the OP. I was well aware he was the assistant director.
I don't understand why you felt the need to reply to me 5 months later, just to again reiterate what we all know, that he was an assistant director.

Him being an assistant director for season 1 is not some guarantee season 2 will be as good as season 1.

clearly makes it out you didnt know that the "new director" isnt really "new" at all.

So either you're just trolling or you like talking in circles.

Either way im done discussing with you unless you stop acting this way.

@animefanftw123 ???
He is the new director. Again, what are you talking about? Whether he was the assistant or not is irrelevant in him being the new director handling the series. He is in a new role.
Or do you think assistant director and main director do the same thing? Much of what made season 1 good was the result of the director, not the assistant director.

And I never said season 2 wouldn't be good. Just that it was a little disappointing, and that series I'd seen with new directors had generally been disappointing, yet you still felt the need to respond to me 5 months later (which you still haven't addressed as to why), and accused me of fearmongering.

I think you should chill out a bit.

Just wanted to clarify for anyone still wondering why the directors had changed for the second season. There was an 'Emergency broadcast' for Bocchi the Radio right after season two was announced and this is what the post is based on.

Saito Keiichiro (Season one director) never intended to make a season two, even as he was making season one. It was very much a passion project for Saito, but at the same time, he felt bad that he couldn't respond to numerous requests about making a second season when asked by Aniplex (subsequently Hamaji Aki), the staff of S1 and the fans. The compilation movies (Re: and Re:Re:) were really just to stall for time/ maintain interest in btr until a decision could be made about S2. Along with the release of the compilation movies also came with the disappointment from the fans, as it was speculated that S2 would never come.

Upon hearing the sentiment regarding the future of btr, Saito eventually expressed to Aniplex that Yamamoto Yusuke (Season one assistant director) may be suitable to lead the production of S2. Even though Saito had wanted S1 to exist as its own entity, he felt that it was only right to answer to the people who have patiently waited for the second season, and he believed that Yusuke could make it a reality.

So yeah that's pretty much the situation, both Saito and Yusuke feature in the Radio show hosted by Yoppi, alongside Kerorira who was in charge of character design for S1, and will also work on S2). I hope this answered a few questions at least, the original live broadcast is below:
