Nowadays I'm mostly re-watching my favorites, because I'm simply running out of good shows (not counting seasonal anime).

“Do you find it harder to still watch anime?”
No. There are still a lot of good and interesting shows out there.

Unlike in the beginning, I don't enjoy any show I watch, but that's just how it is.

Well, yes. Most people usually get higher standards the more they watch, and that makes it harder to find shows they will like.
At the same time their impressionability decreases, so it's harder to get the same excitement like in the early days.
Good for me that it still works to a sufficient degree, although I already took a two-year break once.

Well, it is not a matter of anime not being enjoyable. It is that there is simply too much of it being produced. There is no way anyone has nearly enough time to watch all of the shows being produced.

I don't have any trouble finding good entertaining shows, I have trouble with finding great ones. It's easy to find a 7 or an 8, but it's harder to find a 9 or a 10.

Yes, it's gotten hard to watch anime because I have difficulty finding a good show.

The more anime I watched, the stricter my tastes became until I developed a preference.

Because of this, I've realised just how much slop is pumped out every season.

I prefer action, but I could watch anime from any genre as long as it piques my interest before the end of the first episode. Unfortunately, a lot of shows fail to do this and I drop them.

It is becoming harder to find new good anime when digging through stuff from the past since I've already watched almost every noteworthy anime from the best anime era (I mean the last twenty years). Watching seasonals, rewatching my favorites and even trying again the best anime I dropped are more enjoyable, and I'm satisfied this way.

I still love watching anime. However I take very long breaks of literally not watching no anime, then randomly binge-watch a couple of shows on a single weekend lmao.

No, there are great shows I've planned to watch but haven't gotten to yet.

It's not hard to find a good show, it's just hard for me to commit to a new one sometimes.

I used to be happy to find one really great anime per year.
It's been nearly ten years since I found a new really great anime.

Now I am happy if I find anything that is watchable at all.

The more degenerate an anime is, the more enjoyable it is to watch i.e. Senran Kagura and Hyperdimension Neptunia. Degeneracy is very good, indeed!

My problem is that new anime is not unique enough, for example new shonen shows that are coming out are nearly the same, with insignificant differences, like spamming supernatural, supernatural, curse, curse, superpowers, superpowers, etc.

More or less the same here. besides my PTW list, and I wouldn't say it's easy to find a 7 or an 8 as its kind of getting less. Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying anime regardless.

@Gekko_ua that is because all of the good ideas have already been invented.

Yeah it happens, and that's when it's time to take a break. Either for a few days, a few weeks, a few months, or a few years... Taking a break has never failed me, and by the time I jump back into it, there's plenty of new interesting shows to explore.

You know, I easily get hard while I watch anime, so it is relatively easy. *ba dum tss. The real answer is that I just rewatch (pure, not ecchi *ykwim) the gourmet genre over and over, just like watching Mukbang videos especially when I am eating.

Recently, easier. But that's probably because I watched very little from 2006-2023. You see, I watched a lot from 1995-2006. In 2005, I moved to Japan for work, lived there for 11 years, and watched very little anime. It was difficult to watch it there because I couldn't keep up with any shows. In fact, my prefered type of TV show was comedy variety shows. I returned to my home country in 2016, hardly watched anything, other than Attack on Titan and Macross. Then this year, I started getting back into it, and find it very easy to watch.

I started watching anime really young. I consumed a lot of shows. Some good some bad. I had a lot of time in school. And when ur adult with carrer, working your ass off, you don´t have that much time. Also... Time is money.
And i can´t waste my precious time on bad or mediocore shows. When i finally have time for myself i really want to enjoy it on 100 percent. So if i don´t get the vibes at first episode, bye, I´m dropping it.

@Kwanthemaster Same here. Life is getting in the way.
Which one do you want? An Addiction or A Good Life?
A) Addiction - a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure.
B) A Good Life - a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure and includes pleasure through motivation and hard work.

Well, back when I got into anime in 2002 I watched it on TV, which broadcasted series that stood out back then, like Evangelion, Utena, Lain, Cowboy Bebop, KareKano, Trigun, FLCL, Inuyasha, Fushigi Yuugi... So it was like every anime was great.

On the other hand I think anime was more diverse back then, with a larger proportion of sci-fi, shojo adventure, horror... series. Though maybe there's a high for every low? The OVA scene has disappeared except for omakes for physical releases... but you could say it has been merged into the late night TV anime schedule. Original action films seem pretty much extinct... but we're getting TV action anime with Ninja Scroll-like production values nowadays. Still I see a pattern here; it feels like all the eggs are in the same basket nowadays... and that shonen manga are the hens laying them. I don't think there's been a season where there wasn't anything that appealed to me... but a really wide majority were adaptations of manga I like. That's what I miss the most, more original anime.
