| I'm not a Russian native speaker, however, I used to learn it back in the day. Naturally, I still remember a lot. What do I think about Russian language in Roshidere anime? It feels painful to hear. "Roshiago" sounds like Engrish, just worse, due to weird pronounciation or accents sounding as if they were put in random places. |

Yeah, I'm a native Russian speaker and they really should have hired Zhenya Davidyuk for this role. She's an actual Russian, working as seiyu in Japan. Russian phrases in this anime sound super awkward, even though I like Sumire Uesaka enough and I know that she's a huge slavaboo herself.

I just understand when she say "Milashka" (Милашка) and that's mean "Cute"
I'm interested to learning Russian, so far I just memorize Russian Alphabet but no smooth.

@Sofie_Alavnir Agreed. I had to loop back and listen to her Russian lines multiple times before understanding about 80% on average what she was trying to say. Zhenya would have been much more understandable. But, given what other MAL users have said, I guess we should just be happy with what we got, especially in the times we're in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I still get a kick out of hearing any Russian in anime, so I'll keep watching even if it's not perfect.

As a Russian speaker, I had problems understanding her the first time, sometimes I had to rewind. Even the subtitles weren't very helpful.
Also Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san 2nd Attack have the same sock wearing scene. What a coincidence.

It's not about nationality: it's about whether or not an actor is a native speaker of the language, that the character supposed to be a native speaker of.
Also, I don't agree with the argument that the fact that Alisa was raised mostly in Japan makes the situation with her accent any better.
Judging by other comments in threads to this anime, it seems she still spent quite enough time in Russia for her accent not to be that bad.
Also I had some real experience of talking with people, who were actually raised in two different countries at once.
For example, in one of the camps, where I was as a teen,there was a Chinese boy, who spoke Russian so well, that I was genially surprised to find out that he didn't grow in Russia.
His father was some kind of businessman or something like that, if I remember correctly, so they would move from China into Russia and back all the time.

@Swyzen может в серии была проблема со звуком, я смотрел на половине громкости там и японский был тихий, а русская речь еще тише. Если выкрутить громкость на 100% то уже более менее понятно с первого раза.

| My grandma was half Russian and would speak Russian with her relatives. The rest of the family was Polish, and most of them spoke Polish. There are many words that sound the same, or are close enough that you can understand. So while I can pick out a little bit here and there, I wouldn't say I can speak or understand much Russian. I can say that the Russo-Japanese accent sounds pretty odd, though, at least to an American. |
