IMO, it is like she is jealous of rich people, trying to get rich by moving to capital, then found out the power of friendship, stop pursuing rich and determine on the friendship sorta vibes.

A desperate attempt at trying to make the audience sympathize with a character who will proceed to die 15 seconds after the backstory concludes lol, I wish they would’ve developed her more throughout the show so we’d care more, instead of shoehorning it in last second.

No I am asking what relevance does her backstory do or what depth does her backstory add to her character because usually backstories do a lot for characters. For example you can start liking a villain just because of his backstory

it's the same as demon slayer and shit like that. character is about to die and the writer didn't bother developing the character organically beforehand so they cram a forced backstory/exposition on them at the very end and then kill them

Every single character with a backstory is thoroughly developed and fleshed out beforehand, most of every backstory can be understood before its told, the backstory just fills in the missing pieces and gives you the full picture. If you don't pay attention and notice it, that's on you.

@CreepHazard Backstories in demon slayer are always very important and completely integral to the character though. They shape each character and play directly into the plot and themes and world.

I think the point was to show that Kugisaki isn't just the steadfast badass girl she usually pretends to be, but also has an emotionally vulnerable side.

Demon Slayer backstories barely have any substance in them. It's the usual 'All I wanted (insert corny reason)' tragedy trope and it's funny at best

I’m not trying to hate but I seriously don’t see what it adds to her character and I find it hard to make a connection with anything that was happening in the jujutsu world. Really boring backstory in my opinion.

That's a pretty stupid take, her backstory was meant to enhance her death and give more context to her character
