[I am reading the DarkHorse issue of Akira. Here 120 chapters are converted into 38 parts. And the sequence of event is mixed up to match the new format. So, I know how many chapters I have read but do not know what part belong to which chapter.]

We finally got to see the true power of Akira due to Nezu's pride not accepting he should give up. I feel sad for Takashi and Sasaki along with everyone else that died from the whole insanity. I have to say the details of the destruction was incredible and mesmerizing. Otomo did an amazing job in drawing these panels of the destruction of Neo-Tokyo.

He knows how to convey the magnitude of the disaster.

Episode 50: Pages 21-37 of volume 4 of the Kodansha publication.

I'm getting heavy Mad Max vibes at this point. I could also see the Fall Out series being heavily inspired by Akira in this sense.

@GurschachX Well I am fully sure Otomo didn't intended for it to be turn out like Mad Max. I think it might have been the editor telling him to turn it like Fist of The North star (inspired from Mad Max). Because according to the movie version, which Otomo help direct, I expected it to go a different it to differently.
